The fuel door remote release on the Maverick is because it’s a hybrid, not because it’s a Lariat.

A note on the Mav transmission. Yes, it is a CVT, but not a belt & pulley CVT like Nissan and others used to have. It is a planetary gearset that Toyota has used in their Prius for a long time. Yes, you still get CVT drone but with high reliability.

The Ford Maverick hybrid has a fuel door button on the dashboard that allows the driver to open the fuel door while still in the vehicle. The fuel system in a hybrid takes a few seconds to depressurize....typically the time it takes to get out of the driver's door and move to the area to fuel the vehicle. This is not specific to the Lariat and not on EcoBoost engine models. Best I can come up with for FTS is Corporate 'Field Technical Service', a Toyota specific term. a specific human's job.

Big difference in interior space also big difference in ride quality with the Maverick. Also you can upgrade ground clearance and even a better ride by going with AWD. Then you can actually even go a step better with ride and ground clearance even more with the tremor package. FYI you can also get cloth seats, save a little coin and get the XLT and Luxury package as an option. Both trucks are good. Unfortunately majority of buyers are brand loyal, with the price increases on many manufacturers if they gave the Ford Maverick a look, and test drive they may alter their pre assumed assumptions on a compact truck, especially the Ford Maverick. It's not for everybody, but it definitely fills a needed niche.

You cannot open the gas door is NOT because its Lariat, its because its hybrid. I own both gas and hybrid Mavericks, the hybrid XL has pressurized gas tank also. Its to keep the gas fresh because you are sipping on gas comparing to the gas model.

4cyl is fine in the smaller trucks. Mid-size need a 6. Maverick would be tons of fun with a manual.

U literally have the exact model maverick I bought (color and trim). And yes it has more room. And it saves a lot of gas. I do like the rugged looks of the taco but they’re around $50k in my area

@@ThomasVMan that’s beside the point the vast majority of people will never need a full size. They never use a truck for it’s intended purpose. They get it from status and that’s it. That’s why the Maverick has been popular a small truck with a decent size interior.

The 2.0T version of mav is what should be compared to. Its also a DI engine and sounds like a diesel 😅

The only thing I dislike about the Mav is that I didn't pick one up (or try to) at 30k loaded (Lariat w/lux package). That was a screaming deal and Ford was almost certainly losing $ on every one they built.

The Maverick has been a home run for Ford. People have been wanting a smaller truck since the original Ranger went away back in 2012. Maverick is more than enough truck for most people. Only reason for midsize or full size is if you need to tow more than 4,000 lbs.. Also Maverick will be getting refreshed for the 25 model year. Also the FX4 and Tremor versions of the Maverick are very good at off roading.

I get that interior space is always going to be better in unibody vehicles vs. body on frame but I don’t really understand how the Maverick beats the Tacoma in payload. Is Ford overestimating and Toyota underestimating?

I don't think Ford would overestimate that would be a lawsuit waiting to happen if it breaks and it's within payload. Ford knows how to make trucks. The new tacos have 1200lb payload on just about every trim. The trail hunter was like 1230 on the recent tfl video. The new tacos are last out of the big three on payload by alot and towing. 🤡 Saw a loaded XLT fx4 with tow package has a 1650lb payload. Way better than taco

Get over the gas cap thing brother. Real long time off roaders like me dont want capless. I often get dirt and mud in that area.

basically to sum it up, capless isn't a real truck. I actually live in the TX country, 2 miles of dirt road. Capless is stupid and lame, probably like anyone who likes that.

That’s not how ford capless works LOL. It won’t get dirt or mud… it’s a dual cap system. First cap is to keep dirt out and the second cap is to keep the tank sealed.

I just swapped my Maverick Hybrid XLT Lux Pkg for a 2024 TRD Off Road because I needed the 6ft bed. I traded 40mpg for 20mpg.

@@israelsantos4059 No, the gas was really great for a truck, but the Maverick has an awful infotainment system and screen. 4.5 bed was too small, and I needed an AWD or 4WD truck. I got my money back after driving it for a year.

The hybrid Maverick has to have a push button because it's a pressurized gas tank. It's not a Lariat thing.

Because it would perform poorly against other midsized trucks. I purchased a new 2017 Tacoma DC LB OR 4x4 and owned it for 5 years. It performed well but wasn't great.

The Maverick has more passenger space, 250lbs more payload and better mpg like almost double. That's how bad the new taco is. Maverick is putting up taco like sales numbers as well.
