Lyrics & Music - Charles A. Tindley (c. 1905)
St. 2 Lyrics - Baylus B. McKinney (1937)
Key - Eb Major
Tempo - 92 bpm
SATB - J. Elliot Bowman
Recorded at the Northeast church of Christ in Cookeville, TN.

1.) Limit 2 per person (feel free to request 2 more when yours are posted)
2.) Only public domain hymns (Pre-1923)
3.) Include author/composer and date of composition
4.) Be patient. This is one of many hobbies of mine and not a full time job. It may take a few weeks to a couple years to get yours done.

Keep in mind that the main purpose of these videos is to encourage congregational 4-part harmony singing. I record and mix these in such a way to help the listener hear parts more clearly. I urge you to listen with earbuds/headphones or true stereo speakers. Laptop and phone speakers are not only garbage for critical listening, they provide no sense of stereo which can be helpful while listening to these. Alto is slightly towards the left ear/channel and tenor is towards the right ear/channel. Soprano and bass are right down the middle.
If you enjoy the way that these hymns are sang and want to experience them in person, stop by just about any church of Christ and they'll likely be singing them the same way. Without instruments.

One of my mates at work asked me today, "Do you have a favourite hymn, Faith?” He knows that I am Christian, so he asked me that. I said, “No. Do you?” And he replied, "Yes! It’s “When The Morning Comes” I asked him, "Who’s it by?” And he replied, “Oh, it’s a hymn. It’s not by anybody.” And I told him I’d check it out when I got home. When I was just listening to this song just now, I remembered that, this morning, I Prayed to God to show me that He is victorious (because I have been struggling quite a bit with my mental health recently). When I was listening to the song, the lyric “He will guide us with His eye and we’ll follow ‘til we die”made me remember that I had Prayed to God about reminding me of His victory and then that lyric was about His victory. It’s absolutely crazy how God works sometimes!

Thanks for taking the time to comment, Faith. I'm glad y'all were talking about hymns with your friend and I'm thrilled to be able to share these great old hymns with brothers and sisters from around the world. And it's great to hear people apply the lyrics to their lives. So often we just sing these without thinking about them! Oh, and tell your mate that every hymn comes from somebody. ( : Haha.... (A very small church that I just pretty much help lead or pick songs for.) When the older singer step down and no longer could do it, I thought I could help out by stepping in. I am no song leader what so ever, but I do my best and everytime I need help with a song, I automatically come to your channel. Chorus: By and by, when the morning comes, All the saints of God are gathering home, We will tell the story how we've overcome; We will understand it better by and by. 2 Oft our cherished plans have failed, disappointments have prevailed, And we've wandered in the darkness, heavyhearted and alone; But we're trusting in the Lord, and according to His Word, We will understand it better by and by. 3 Temptations, hidden snares often take us unawares, And our hearts are made to bleed for some thoughtless word or deed, And we wonder why the test when we try to do our best, But we'll understand it better by and by.

Hello again! I looked into this a bit more and from what I can tell, the original title is "When The Morning Comes". Actually - "When Morning Comes" for some reason. ( : I have found "We'll Understand It Better By And By" in my old 'Red Back' hymnal that many Baptist churches use as well as others. The verse lyrics are much different and the notes are pretty different as well. Which hymnals do you have it in? Also, do you read music? I'm very curious how your hymnals compare to this one. Maybe your arrangements are the same as this old hymnal I have in front of me? If it matters, "We'll Understand It Better By And By" was arranged by R. E. Winsett. Or the one in front of me right now was anyway. Haha... Let me know. I'm very curious! hymnary.org/text/trials_dark_on_every_hand

Still being blessed and edified by these beautiful hymns. By the way, how’s you’re progress on the King James Bible issue that we talked about a while back??
@acappellahymns
@acappellahymns 3 жыл бұрын
I'm glad you're enjoying still! As for my KJV "progress", I'd say there hasn't been any. The more I study about the events leading up to it, its compilation, translation, etc, the more I feel good about standing firm in my belief that - while it is a good translation and certainly did a lot for society, it is not the *only* translation that Christians can use to study the Word of God. Though difficult for many to read, it is an excellent translation of its source material. There are also more modern translations that are excellent translations of their source material. I do not find that the KJV and *most* modern translations are different in intent/meaning, though they definitely have different sentence structure and vocabulary. I do believe that there are some modern translations that do some harm. But it's difficult to say if they do more harm than good. Would I rather someone read a summary of the Bible rather than nothing at all? Yes, I think so. Would I rather someone read all of an ESV translation instead of 10 verses of a KJV? Yes, I think so.
@luisb3426
@luisb3426 3 жыл бұрын
@@acappellahymns, do you believe there are dark, powerful, spiritual entities out there that seek to destroy the people of God and confuse them, like we're told in Scriptures like Ephesians 6:12 and 1 Peter 5:8? If so, wouldn't it stand to reason that these evil beings would seek to destroy the Scriptures with all their might and make people believe that God's perfect Word doesn't really even exist, and that the truth of God can never be found?
@acappellahymns
@acappellahymns 3 жыл бұрын
@@luisb3426 That's a great question. But I think that the people that used the compilations of scriptures before the KJV came along could have asked the exact same question. 😃 I don't believe that we have any translation today that is "perfect". The reason is - they were all translated by man. Even the translators/scholars that were working on the KJV admitted so. While there are evil forces on this earth, there are also powerfully good forces. If we use the same logic you use (but reversed), we could easily say that the good forces on this earth (God) have given us even more understanding of the Greek language than they had 400 years ago as well as even older manuscripts that we could use that new knowledge on. Please keep in mind, I don't mind that you and others use the KJV. I only argue that it is not the *only* one that *everyone* should use. 😉
@luisb3426
@luisb3426 3 жыл бұрын
@@acappellahymns so if I wanted to ditch my position of KJV perfection and come over to the camp of Greek perfection, which version of the Greek would I use? Which one is most accurate and true to the originals?
@acappellahymns
@acappellahymns 3 жыл бұрын
@@luisb3426 I feel like that's a couple of loaded questions. 😄 But I'll play along. There are a handful of very good modern translations (none of them being perfect). The KJV is a formal equivalence (word for word) translation. If you wanted to stick with formal equivalence, I could recommend the ESV, NKJV, NASB, or Young's Literal Translation. Each has their subjective merits and flaws (including the KVJ), however minor they might be. If you ever wanted to explore the world of "function equivalence" (thought for thought), there is the NIV and NLT. I've tried these and own an NIV. I do not prefer them. I don't find any serious flaws in them, I just don't prefer the way things are worded at times. If I'm ever stuck on a passage, they can and have helped me understand things though. Then I go back to my preferred translation. Then there are the "retelling" (paraphrase) translations such as the GNT and MSG. I don't think I would recommend these for a Christian with experience and comfort in other translations (like KJV, ESV, etc.). These can be helpful for children that have a hard time understanding more rigid translations or for people who's 2nd language is English. The most important thing to remember with most translations is this - a translation is an interpretation. If we asked 10 different Greek people today to translate a portion of Greek manuscripts into English, they'd each likely come up with slightly different translations. Would any of them be "wrong"? Probably not. Would their be errors? It's possible. Most importantly - Would they all faithfully recreate an ancient language into a modern one without losing the intended meaning/message? Most likely.
