I took everything out to restring the heddles because I hated the pattern. Then when I got it all redressed I realized I still made a mistake. I left it in 😂

It hurts to leave the threading error, and my eye is always drawn to the ‘wrong ‘ bit on the cloth, so I do the re sleying if I spot it in time .

I wonder, if I wind a warp on the assumption that I will be working 12" at 20epi, then re-sley at say 30epi, giving 8" on the front and 12" on the back, will there be a tension issue because of the mismatch and what is the best way to deal with that? 🤔

@@ActonCreative Hello Chris, well here's a scenario. I plan a scarf to be 12" wide and want a drapey fabric and wind 240 ends on the warp board, using the raddle cross to divide into 10s (20 epi). Then, warping back to front, I wind on the warp and it measures 12" on the back bar, through the heddles and on my 10 dent read, with 2 ends per dent,12" there too. So far so good! I weave a sample and decide it is far too loose and so re-sley at 3 ends per dent. As this is 30 epi the width at the front is now 8". This would mean that the threads at the outer edges would have to be much longer (because of the angle from the 12" back to the 8" front) than the threads in the middle. I imagine this would give me a saggy middle or super tight edges?

@@robertrobert5583 Ah! Okay, I follow you! Depending on how short your project is, you may not notice a saggy middle. But if it's a fairly long warp, it could be a challenge. If the warp is particularly long, and you have plans to do multiple pieces, you could weave for awhile. Then at a natural stopping point, cut off the finished portion and retie the warp, giving it a chance to equal out and find similar tension. I must say that I've never been in quite this scenario before! So I'm curious to hear how it goes and how you navigate the difference between the middle and the edges! Will you keep me posted?

Hi Chris, well the thing is that at the moment, on the 12" 20 epi, the tension is beautifully even. I'm fairly new to weaving (6 months) and this is my best warp yet! So I am loath to change anything. It's a bit of a dilemma. However, the warp is long enough for 2+ scarves and I think I will wait until the end and then experiment with changing to 30 epi. Will let you know... 🤞
