If the Bicycle frame is set for the wheel to be adjusted, use it to tension the Motor chain. This is more for the older style frames as almost all newer frames have a fixed axle. You can add a spring tensioner to the bicycle chain to compensate for the difference in chain slack..
@nathanwest4670
@nathanwest4670 10 ай бұрын
Actually yeah that is one thing I noticed, is that I can take a lot of slack off the chain by making sure the Tire & Axle is set into those slots put all the way back before tightening down the nuts. Then I adjust the tensioner from there. I could get one of those spring-loaded tensioners that work with the factory tensioner and bolt to the clutch cover, however, I've heard lots of good things about the arc tensioner and it being the best way to go. Than a person can eliminate that cheap factory tensioner altogether.

I got frustrated so much with the tensioner. In the end i completely removed it and shorten the chain. I couldnt buy the arch tensioner because im not from US. It works without the tensioner for me tho.

My stock chain stretched out so far that I ordered the motor mounted spring version and never took the 4 bolt off, I have a 10 year old OP Roller, 80 dollar Walmart cruiser, the chain stays are oval. Love the channel watch on the regular. Running a motoos one piece, mild port, bone stock carb, nz clone pipe connected to a silencer with 5/8 silicone lined tube. Shakezullah!!

Myself I was very surprised how much these chains stretch. The worst case scenario is finding yourself in a situation we're taking out two chain links is too much yet removing one chain-link isn't enough. That's the problem I ended up with and ended up having to move the tensioner back a little bit

About your inner tube, where did you find them? Keep in mind I'm in Canada. I have been looking at bbr 26-inch rims as they have the Cog pre-mounted and it's my understanding that they never require adjustment. Also I was told that if you get the three spoke rims you will have almost zero chance of failure as opposed to the 5-spoke, etc. Until then, obviously I will be up-grading my inner tube as I never had so many small punctures in my life, on a bicycle LOL. And it always happens to the rear tire, not the front. obviously, I know why this is. Another tip I was taught is to not throw out your old inner tubes but rather remove the skin and use it as an extra layer of protection on your new inner tube. I definitely have been using those Dollar Store Tire patches. I'm very surprised how well they work considering you don't use rubber cement with them. You simply rough up the surface around the small leak, then just put the patch on with a lot of pressure on top of it. Let it sit like that for a few minutes and then it's good to go. Not sure how these patches work but they work great considering they are dirt cheap and you're not having to use using rubber cement thus waiting for all that to set. So they're great for on to go if you get a puncture and need to get going instantly again

Hello again Mr. Hughes first let me thank you for helping me everytime I bothered you about something..might as well be my next door neighbor Sir!..about that arch tensioner and the skateboard wheel, will it be a good idea for a #40 chain? or could I get the arch tensioner from you and swap the wheels out for the sprockets? That stock wheel that goes with the first tensioner does not fit period. I am going to get this arch tensioner though and the sprocket if you suggest and if you have them but thank you Sir and take care! Peace

Hey brother thanks for this video. I've been watching a lot of your videos and it's very helpful. With that being said I did Mount my tensioner on the chain stay, however regardless it wasn't long before the pulley separated from the Allen bolt/bearing. So I got a brand new one I'm going to be mounting, I can never figure out if the pully wheel should face the inside or the outside I tend to put the wheel facing the inside towards the tire. But I have seen some people have the pully wheel facing the outside. So I'm going to mount my new tensioner right now. But yeah I do want one of those arch tensioners and I've heard that they are the best way to go. What do you charge for them and are you able to ship them to Canada within a reasonable amount of time? Thank you in advance and thank you for all your videos and helpful informative tips. Love your Channel

Yeah brother that's awesome very good way to construct these. With that being said I certainly don't have the tools or the space to be able to build one. For example I don't even have a Vice let alone a welder. I suppose what I could do is take this video to a local metal fabrication/ machine shop have them overview the video and build the Arc part for me. Then the rest I can do myself. Thank you very much for your help with this and all your other informative videos. You most definitely are an expert when it comes to these motorized bikes

@@HughesMotorized yeah I just ended up buying one off Amazon. Mainly because I ate another tensioner wheel so in a haste I just bought it. Still waiting on it so what I did instead of that cheap tensioner wheel as I used to skateboard wheel with dual bearings. I now have a Spitfire tensioner. And let me tell you it works awesome. Still can't wait to get the arc tensioner and use the wheel on that one. Because that is a better choice. And I do agree if I want to take the time the forge the metal a curb or anything to has a proper shape and a hammer would do the trick. Thank you so much my man I will definitely be watching your videos and listening to your advice as well as probably purchasing from you in the future. That is if there is anything that you shipped to Canada I'm sure you would ship light products.

I'm trying to find a better roller to replace the crappy stock roller......I seen some $8 33mm wide red pit bike rollers but have no idea if the bearings are any good & what material the roller is made out of. According the reviews they're hit & miss. They might also be too wide, I was thinking of using a 52mm skateboard wheel, if it's too wide. The sides can be sanded down & a groove cut in it for the chain if needed. I know they're not made out of brittle plastic & use good bearings, plus only cost $14 for a set of 4.

Before my bevel gear chewed up mysteriously, two week old motor, (second one) gone over top to bottom before even installing let alone starting. I was losing tensioner wheels like crazy. I know why and what needed to be done and it is a cog mounting issue. Regardless I ended up using a 56mm spitfire skateboard wheel with dual bearings. It works perfect. If only I could get that gear off of there to replace and hope it was a fluke that chewed it up.
@nathanwest4670
@nathanwest4670 10 ай бұрын
Also you're 100% correct if you end up with issues of clearance because it's too wide. With the Spitfire Wheels I got there is a lot that could be shaved off on both sides before even getting close to the bearings. Me personally I had to put a spacer in it on the bracket side to make sure the wheel didn't Rub on the bracket. Had that not of worked, however, I would have simply just sliced a little bit off of each side. I love my skateboard wheel tensioner wheel and I feel a lot safer with it. The Dual bearings alone are major Improvement, let alone the much stronger material skateboard wheels are made of. No it doesn't have the groove for the chain to ride in. But you could make the groove if you really wanted to or just make sure your cog is true and within the chain parameters. Then you don't have to worry about it anyway. Then just leave the chain to eventually wear a Groove into the wheel based upon how your Cog is mounted. From what I can see, it will probably take a long time. But when it does start wearing a groove. It will be completely custom to the way my cog is spinning. However I'm not even sure if the chain can cut into the wheel even if it's over on a long amount of time. It's pretty strong material. I hope this helps you 😎

To everyone out there I just want to say be careful with your Motorized bikes at stores. Yesterday my Motorized bike was stolen from outside of harbor freight. I wasn't in there no longer than 10 minitues.The guy cut the lock off my bike left his piece of shit bike there and left with my custom bike that was priceless to me being all the hours I spent making it my own. And if the police would of went after the guy after they seen on camera the way he went down the highway I'd have my bike right now. I'm so mad at how they handled the situation, now if it happened to someone they knew or if the guy had a gun, or even probably if it was a car that got stolen they probably would of actually did there job. I was homeless for 4 and a half years in the woods in a tent about 6 months ago. I was just getting my life back in order. And my only transportation and only thing I have besides a cheap rc car is gone. And for me to try and make money to somehow get another is in possible cause I need one to get to jobs to make the money to buy one. So it's just a catch 22. I still cant come to the fact that it's gone and most likely I'm not gonna be able to get another one and if possible it wouldn't be for a long while I'd be able to get the money up. Please everyone just be on point I dont want to see this happen to any of you. Take care and God bless.

I'm sorry to hear this man. I'm in a very similar situation as you. I was homeless for two years, I was a heroin addict. I got sober last September and ended up getting into this hobby on total accident. My bike was free, engine was $106 but those hours spent are impossible to appraise an amount for comparison. Some of us rely on these bikes to get to where we have to go. I do it to avoid the sess pool of the public transportation here in Rochester, NY. My heart goes out to you man. I keep two locks on mine, I just put an alarm on it. I also bring the entire bike seat with me, engage the clutch, turn the choke on and shut the petcock off so if you wanted to ride a seatless bicycle that has an alarm going off you wouldn't make it very far. I was considering returning the alarm as I wasn't certain if I was wasting $25 but you know what, the hours poured into this thing out weigh that $25.

My friend in the city I live in we have more bicycle thefts then car jacking. To the point where it was actually in the front page of the paper many times of how bad the bicycle thieving is around here in this stupid town. I personally went and got a paddle lock and a chain. Cuz I have seen people cut through those braided wire bicycle locks. Now obviously I understand that someone could take bolt cutters and cut through the chain and or the padlock but it's a piece of mind and does buy me some time to catch them in the act if someone does that. That's just regular bicycle to not motorized bikes. And yes you can park your bike and go into a store for 2 seconds and when you come back out it's gone.
@nathanwest4670

Also I agree with you anyone touching and f****** with my baby well likely catch a little 22. I personally have a Telsa coil which can take 3 to 6 volts input and output 400,000,000 volts. I think I might wire that to the frame with a switch that arms it. Then when it's armed if anyone even touches the bike I will be coming out to find them on the ground with pissy pants. Obviously this is going to require a little bit of figuring out how to make this work. But in theory I can make it work. I just got to remember that most people wear shoes and that would make sure they're not grounded. So when they touch the frame the idea is that it completes the circuit then the voltage runs through them. And when that happens I have thought about the fact that it could burn out the CDI. However the Telsa coil can make replacement CDI in a pinch

My 13 year old Grubbe 49cc was stolen out of my garage and I will NEVER recpver all of the labor and love that I put into it. I installed a 1/8" lag eye bolt into the joist of my garage and have run a 3/16" hardened chain through it. This will go through the frame of my next build. Police won't do anything and I am still livid after mine was stolen, and it was less than 2 weeks ago!-John in Austin

And that's why when you see your bike going with the frame all painted and stuff you kick that guy off the bike and you make sure he PAYS DEARLY. Also, in Australia I believe their banned now. aren't they? So little surprised the cops won't do anything. little surprised they wouldn't do anything regardless.
