Yeah yeah, my video output has dropped in recent weeks, and the Tamiya F-4B has been conspicuously absent from WIP photos. I'll walk through why, as well as a quick roundup of what else is taking up bench time.

Thanks for the heads up Matt! The only thing that counts for modelers: don’t rush things! And you are spot on on your decision to hold yourself back on this one and enjoy a) the build, and b) that model show.

Thanks for the update Matt. Thats what happens, life gets in the way of things, there's no rush...love what you do here. Glad to hear you'll be doing more WW2 props in the new year. Incidentally we're less than 2 weeks away from summer in Sydney and it's still cold. WTF!?

Life and reality do tend to get us all. Glad to hear you have not abandoned the Phantom project, I admit it was worrying me a bit, because I was following closely and really admiring the work. I have had several projects start well and ended up s***t-canning them for other problems that appeared later. Was my biggest worry for you. Glad all is well and hope you deal with the cold. Up here minus -10 C is a regular thing this time of year. Best wishes, Dane

You have a lot on your plate. I have the very same issue. Three Panthers, four Amphibious vehicles, four B-24s, three B-25J, two F-89 and a score of other kits started but not finished. Sometimes I question myself if I have a mental issue. My wife would agree with that.

Enjoyed the video and I know exactly what you mean. I too have eight models going and decided to step back. At the moment I've switched gears and am working on a 1/84 scale wooden ship model of the Cutty Sark.

Goddamn bench squirrels. I feel this though. Especially when editing videos enters the mix.

Good update and good to hear that you have a number of projects ticking along. Everyone is different but I know if I put a part finished model on the shelf while looking for enthusiasm I would probably never touch it again. A few months ago I finished the worst kit I have ever made, the 1/72 Revell Concorde. Its a big impressive model but the kit was absolute crap, from gummy plastic to nothing fitting, poor detail and more filling and sanding than painting a full size car. I made it like the models you see in travel agents so as for accuracy I didn't even go there. After that I have sat back for a few months to rest but I've just bought the ICM 1/48 He 111 H-3 to start over Xmas.

Looking forward to more F-4 vids when you're ready. And I'd kinda like to see a 1950s or early 60s jet. Less stuff in the cockpit etc., and a bare metal finish.

Good call. Every project fail I’ve had (couple hundred or so) due to rushing it.

Probably not! I'm tougher than a lot of people around here (saw people walking around in puffy jackets when it was 65 this week), but I tire of temps below about 45 pretty quickly.

Thanks for the update Matt. I agree as far as rushing things for shows...a recipe for disaster (l learned the hard way trying to get five figures done the week before my club's show). For the rainbow series, is any of that going on Patreon? The Lee sounds really interesting as l have a Sherman diorama rattling around in my head. If l understand you, it sounds like you're trying to do some "reverse" painting...l have attempted that with some figures with okay success. I'd be interested in seeing how you do it. If not, that's cool. My best to you and your family in Thanksgiving.

Matt, this is off topic, but would you share your audiobook listening choices? Thanksgiving week and it’s still in the 80’s here in Arizona. This cold weather wuss says stay warm.

I can go kinda all over the place. Just snagged Neal Stephenson's newest to start, and love a good chunk of his catalog (Cryptonomicon, Anathem, Reamde, and the Baroque Cycle being my faves). Craig Alanson's Expeditionary Force series. Which starts out with a big Old Man's War vibe, but halfway through the first book completely turns the tables. Armor by Craig DeLouie. Spearhead. Discovered Jeremy Robinson lately, and he shares a lot of Alanson's playfully snarky writing, but combines it with some very high concept sci-fi/sci-fantasy. Definitely recommend Dark, Tribe, Infinite, and Infinite 2.
