Mr Krabs (ENTJ) would be at the Bikini Bottom bank quicker than Sandy (ESTP) could say squirrel, Squidward clarinet or Spongebob Krabby-Patty. The latter takes quite some doing in terms of speed. The sponge dude’s laced with functional, bubble-and-burger-friendly amphetamine round the clock. Patrick on the other hand is an obvious ISFP who happens to be quite mentally dim (which probably isn’t the prototype at all for that enneagram-type if Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney are anything to go by, but the pink star does happen to be a class-A-quintuple-star dunce). I have ESTJ boyfriend, he is crazy about earning money. By the age of 25, he is able to live with his passive income. So while people around his age are busy finding a job, he is enjoying his life doing his own business.

As an INFP who is currently unemployed after being made redundant last year, can i ask what kind of freelancing you do? It's the only thing that really appeals to me at the moment but i have no idea where to start - i know, typical INFP!

​@@IndieRockerHippy I'm a freelance editor, currently working with web content and academic research. I'm not sure where you live, but here in the US you can pretty much find jobs like this the same way as regular jobs on job boards like Indeed (best to use 'remote' for the location), or sometimes small gigs on Craigslist or something. It would probably be easiest to find something related to whatever you already have experience with, but there's lots of different types of freelance work out there if you're interested in pursuing a specific area (in some cases, that might require furthering your education or otherwise building up some specialized skills). There's also lots of full-time or part-time work-from-home jobs in many fields. I will say that in my field and writing-related work in general, there are many low- or mediocre-paying jobs, and the higher-paying jobs can be very competitive, so it can take some persistence to land something good, and typically you'll need a few jobs like this (most of them are pretty small jobs, so you need to find the right mix for your needs) to make a living. Of course, it also gets easier as you gain more experience. There's also lots of different ways these jobs can be structured and managed that may work better or worse for you. I know there are other ways to go about freelancing too, this is just what I have experience with. You can do your own research if you're interested, especially pertaining to whatever specialty you're considering.

As a 15 year old INTP, I'm very worried for myself because I am a late bloomer too, I feel like I'm not growing up, everyone else is there going out, meeting friends, doing things, figuring themselves out while I'm freaking here in quarantine playing minecraft and spending an entire day on youtube...

@@TitaniumTronic It's complicated. In some ways we're late bloomers, in some ways we're too early. I'm an INTP (probably) nearing 40 now, and I still play Minecraft. But I also have a pretty good job, and the older I get, and the more confident I get, the more people seem to appreciate what I bring to the table. And the more I can adapt to what people expect of me. It still feels like I'm a late-bloomer, like I'm slow to the realities. And in some ways I still am, particularly when it comes to the social side. I'm still single with no real prospects of that changing, and I'm not sure if I want it to change. But when it comes to economy, things are pretty good. It turns out companies really need competent people, regardless of their social skills. And if you can be agreeable, with a bit of skill, that is enough to make it. And by make it, I just mean a decent salary, maybe a little bit above the norm, but nothing exceptional.

This! I (INFP) experienced exactly this. Turned my back to the things I loved doing (art and history) and did things I'm not cut out for. I began studying a field I was remotely interested in, that turned out to be soooo boring to me that I lost every interest in it. So I dropped out of studying it. When I finally turned to one of my passions, I was allready on the way to a burnout. The financial stress made everything worse. So I had to drop out too. I now work part-time in a completely different field with a low income. But it's enough for me to be myself. I'm happy and I don't think anyone needs more than that!

This is exactly what happened to me lmaooo I'm a mom pleaser, and she told me what I had to become since preschool It backfire on her cuz I grew with my aunt who was caged free spirit and always encouraged my creative side, then she died and I was back my no grind no gain mom, and gave up who I wanted to become And fast-forward to today I'm just floating in my personal limbo

Totally agree! I remember in high school they always talked about "leadership", like if you didn't have typical ExxJ qualities you were destined to be a failure. I wish they had given different examples and definitions of leadership that all personalities could relate to

me, an ENTP, who is pretty sure it'll take some time to make banks but I'm highly confident I will, always found a way so far, just needed to tell my ESFJ friend to leave her deadend job behind bcs she never asked for a rise, felt under appreciated and yet wanted to stay bcs of family - aka I needed to kick her ass - to leave the job and take the better offer she had on table at another company, and she legit complained because it's not her "family" jfc some people have different motivations, it's just like that, that's what I'm going to say :D

I have a very similar experience to you as an INFJ. I never asked for a raise, but my manager keep bumping my salary higher than the others. I spent 5 years on my first job, learning so many things. I quit from my first company because I landed a job in a gaming company, which is always my dream to work for a gaming company. On top of that, I made 9 times more than the first company now.

That last line, man. It made me remember that goodness exist and being a productive member of society is far better than money. Thank you. 🙏

Dena, similar circumstances here. Though I did ask for a promotion once. I didn't get it, but it was an interesting experience in analyzing personalities. It also made me more proactive in exploring where my life and career should go. This led to an opportunity seemingly falling from nowhere, and my knowing it was the right way forward. My then boss supported my making the move but did "borrow" my skills/time from the new department occasionally until others got up to speed. I had to smile at the after layoff getting more pay as that happens with me also..

Which is quite something in itself so long as you can put it in a well-selling book. That’s if you want to stack up and refine your bread supply a little and make a nacho chicken wrap for literary book-storming lunch-break. Seedy brown with mackerel fillets and cucumber must get old after a while, hm? I’m sure the anime-esque melancholically-‘humoured’ world of dry humour, manta-ray spirit guides, Tokyo noodles, dimmed lighting, delicately-honed heliotropic idealism, Cabernet Sauvignon and lightly-fried ‘asun-Mgbidi’ (you’ll have to Google it, but then again maybe not) is nice in an idyllically-niche way (INFJs and INTJs may or may not enjoy some of that as well, so long as the territorial zodiac Turkish-van python doesn’t bite) but I guess for you guys it’s just about finding ways to channel it more productively (if that’s your game). Everyone’s different though.

I chose to live on a Greek island, having kids and working as a self employed counselor (who far to often charges hardly anything because I prefer my clients to pay less and come regularly over them showing up only when they saved enough money). I chose that over an academic career in one of the best universities in Europe, because apparently I'm a typical INFP 😂 And yes, I chose the Greek island because of: Beautiful nature Warm, friendly people Family oriented culture Great food Poor people in Greece still are treated with dignity.

INFP who is presently looking after two parents with dementia, on 10 acres near Carmel California. Finances are handled by my sister, and when my card is low, I text her and she fills it back up. I am "unemployed", with "no income". And I have lots of time for art projects, and building secret trails up on the ridge.

People need to STOP pushing the evil rhetoric that stay at home moms are "unemployed." Edit: or that they even SHOULD be a wage slave for a man who doesn't care about them.

Lol, yessss! Don't give a crap about titles! I like blue collar jobs to have more time in life...less stressful for me to work 4 hours a day (I'm not truly poor, I own my own house, car, and aren't in debt) and earn less as a result. I like the experience of learning new things...

Medicine’s such a broad speciality that you can’t hone out every non-ENTJ type (except unbridled absolute Se flakes of whatever type who are too hyperactive to even sit still at the fucking dentist’s office, let alone conduct surgery - no shade - and probably the obvious IXFP dreamy idealists as well). INFJs and ENFJs make wonderful psychiatrists (that’s the sort of career that appeals to INFJs more than anything else - writing’s usually just a random complementary gift they have and use to bide time/as a hobby otherwise). ESFJs make exemplary paediatricians. At least the grounded, non-flakey ones (and they do exist). Either way I’d rather have an INFJ type than ENTJ as a shrink if I needed olanzapine and/or tricyclic antidepressants. I’m sure most people would as well.

My wife is an INTJ making $100k. I'm an INTP making nothing. I struggle to keep a job more than two years.

ISTJ here but I dread it too, I am almost 20 now...At least I am fine with being around people for way longer especially if they are people I know really well like my few friends unlike you, it is going up to strangers and talking to them that is the issue. Also not an artist, even though I like roleplaying and making stories out of single player games and stuff I barely ever wrote anything

@@louisejoel I used to feel that way in my 20's. If I could tell myself one thing it would probably be to just focus on the practical stuff, but don't let go of your creative work. Stay in good practice, but get schooling and work experience in something that's more utilitarian, at least as a back up.

Johnny I understand. You are an INTP however and can make money out of royalties, by inventing or building Intellectual Property (IP). Like how the Google guys started (Brin). Most INTP's I know who have retired have used the way of valorization at universities in order to get a chunk of the IP of a startup and were able to retire like that.

The accuracy is awkward indeed Ellen. You're INFJ? Maybe you will make less, but you will also lose less money since you are good in judging someone's character. It isn't always what you make it's also about how much you save. Plus, most INFJ's I know own their homes and have a stable middle class lifestyle and are very happy with that.

I'm INTJ Female and i quit my job at my 35 years old (last year) to learn fashion and i want to open a small business before 40. In my previous job, my title was a manager. And i think become an employee is not a long run job.

We're just poor when it comes to money. We're so full of love and gratitude, I think we don't need much money to be happy, because we're so rich in other things. Like I have a low income, but every Saturday I take my bike and ride to the local farmers market next to the sea and buy fresh vegetables and fruits and eggs, olives, honey, etc. I then ride home to my lovely husband and my kids and cook some delicious food with the stuff I bought. Later I might go to the beach and have a swim or have a stroll in the little streets of my neighborhood. I'll meet people I know and be greeted in a friendly way, maybe I'll meet a friend for a fresh orange juice and a chat or I'll ring my parents and talk to them for a couple of hours. I work reduced hours as I'm self employed and hence can spend much time with my children. We get along well, even though both are teenagers now and I love having time to actually listen to them when they decide they need a talk and not to have to squeeze them into my time schedule. I also have a job I love and enjoy and I can spend time alone with my husband and I can even hang out on KZfaq without feeling guilty for not being productive. I think we're like the fisherman in Hemingway's short story.

@@no_name2136 I think we never can have it all, so it's good to take one's time to figure what really matters to us when making important choices. I feel I was lucky to be aware family, nature and good community life are far more important to me than other things when I was in my early twenties. So I could choose what suits me. But staying here during the financial crisis having two young children wasn't easy. There are always times when our choices are challenged and tested. And I think it's good to consider changes if one isn't satisfied.

I'm also an infj and had a similar experience -- ultimately had a goal in mind but was pushed off of the track due to an oopsie haha. After a series of not so great relationships i realized that the greatest goal in life is learning how to be comfortable with yourself and helping others achieve that too. Everyone can get there, just takes a few falls before you can catch yourself.

@@kainesingvongsa8102 Yep, exactly the same, I always have a plan in mind (guess it makes sense being a judging type) but always different circumstances push me into changing those. Other times I felt like I got completely frozen in place and I was out of job for a long time, in a depressive cycle. Got worse after breaking up, because I worked so hard on that relationship to try an make it work, horrible decision btw. But in a way I don't regret anything, because for the first time in my life I see how important I am in my life and I deserve patience. Also FJ's videos have done me a world of good recently. I hope and trust we both find our right path! 💜

I'm an INFJ and can't tell you how many diverse jobs I've had since I was 18. Now I'm planning on taking an exam to be a transportation officer. Definitely not a career I ever thought I'd do, but let's see where it takes me.

INTPs can spend their whole lives doing chemistry and Kantian-philosophy PHDs. Thesis after thesis. I’m not surprised they’re number one in schooling. They mightn’t have a corporate edge (and their raw social networking skills as a rule are far from stellar, unless they’re in their niche quantum circles) but they’re probably the most erudite/actively-learned of all 16 types. I never liked chemistry that much at school so I envy that about them.

Yet, our unconventionality lends us to be pioneers who take on multiple projects, which could get us lots of money collectively. Therein lies the quandary, and an average of tenth place isn't too shabby.

Your husband can probably easily make double your salary if he really wanted to XD. Sad thing is that we ENTPs just don't have much drive on a specific thing. Our drive is to understand and explore, not to accomplish or do. This lack of drive prevents us from climbing up the hierarchy in any field and causes us to get bored/fed up quickly. Welp hey at least I can impress anyone with my incredible learning speed that will go to waste because of said lack of drive 😭🤡

I'm suspected I'm an infp as well. I run my own business when I was 27. It has been 1.5 years now. Though my earning is the same, I cut my working time to half. I only work for 4.5 hours a day, 4 days a week, sometimes work remotely. I'm happy to have time for my hobby! 🤓

So a little late but you can actually talk to the collage counselor, you could probably even call now just to get information and prepare because they will know more than I do on the many different job opportunities, it can range from working in schools, hospitals, private practices, law enforcement, the counseling profession is very prevalent In a number of occupations. I am still deciding on where to take my degree though I have taken an interest in marriage and parenting as of recently, you will know more when you have started taking the classes. If you talk to a collage guidence counselor they can give you more information, just log into any collages you might have an interest in attending, give your information and they will contact you. I personally go to a Christian university Grand Canyon University here in Arizona, United States. They offer getting your degree online as well which can save you money on cost and you don't owe until you have finished your schooling 😁 I hope this helps! Good luckand God bless you 🤍

No degree helped me to do what i do now.. waste of time - you should ad some self education method (just to have the basis if you do not like the second degree). I did good 32 after i realized that our " gut" is a MUST to follow.

One of my besties is an INFP writer (not as yet 'author') who has lived out of her car rather than take just any job, so I wasn't surprised at that list result either, but she was happier doing that than "wasting time doing something menial even if it meant a roof over her head"...she eventually found what she was looking for and is doing alright. I admire her tenacity. I can respect that.

Nope. Communication is extremely important, so you can know where you can improve from the perspective of others, and so you can claim your rights. Doing more work or more efficient work grants you rights for more money, so you need to be able to properly communicate to your boss to convince him why you deserve it.

I really thought we'd be at the bottom! But we have Te in our cognitive stack, and I think that saves many of us who put our intuition and feeling into hobbies or family, and for our jobs we lean on our Te & Si. I know a LOT of ENFPs who work in an office as their "day job" and then do wild, creative stuff outside of work hours.

@@lisa_gay exactly! I’m an ENFP in dental school, which might not sound like the most exciting job ever, but the whole point is to have more time to follow my passions outside of work! I’ve always been able to get good grades by using my Te and Si, even if outside of school I’m doing 100 different things that interest me :)) I don’t need my job to be my #1 passion!

I did my bachelors in english and french literature but honestly found that altho i love learning, i don’t really like the academic vibe bc of my lack of focus and differing interests. I also have severe ADHD so sitting still and focusing on projects or in class for long periods of time on a daily basis is only possible in increments. School and college were super fun from a social standpoint and I was quite the party girl/class clown (& probably annoying af to my professors & more introverted students lol) but I hated being boxed in and having to abide by a rigid timetable & rules & deadlines. So it felt like a huge waste of money, from a career growth perspective. Like I know what my passion is (publishing) but I don’t handle structure and 9-5 and rejection very well so in the meantime i’ve just been floating around doing diferent jobs and trying to get my pilot’s license and save up money to buy a snake! (Who hopefully my cat won’t eat.) I also am terrible w time management and following thru on plans so I’m not surprised we ranked pretty low compare to the other EN types. It’s kinda sad bc I do have neuroses and moments of crisis where I wish I was more organized or could pursue my passion without judgment or fear- but it’s tough to actually do when you have crippling self esteem and lack discipline and drive. Like I am so fearless and active in many ways, but nothing terrifies me more than someone judging me or not understanding me w smth I care abt. I have a lot of introverted friends and especially INFJ/ISTPs for some weird reason lol, but omg, in a professional setting w quiet ppl/strangers when it has to do w my passion? Where I have to try to read their body language since their affect & words don’t give anything away? I freak out and take everything so personally. And I always take my personality down like 5,000 notches in those situations bc I’m so worried they’ll judge me for being too scattered or extra or hyper or loud or inappropriate…. It’s super weird bc in social settings and in my personal life, idgaf and I’m aware ppl gravitate to me. But the stakes in situations that don’t affect my passion - aka publishing - feel lower. Like idc how ppl perceive me if it doesn’t affect me or my dreams, if that makes sense? I don’t get social anxiety like ever (except maybe interviews or high pressure situations - like anyone else) but for me the depression that follows when I feel like a room of ppl that I’m trying to impress (by not being overbearing) has judged or misunderstood me is debilitating. Like it’s sucks. And bc I don’t fit into the mold of publishing, it stresses me out bc I can tell i stick out like a sore thumb. I don’t care, and I’m not judging them- bc I don’t believe in fitting into a box or caring abt ppl’s perceived ideas of how things should be (bc what does that even mean when things are constantly changing & everyone has a different POV??), but man does it suck to see others do, and to see them reject you time & time again for that exact reason. #EndofmySadLittleENFPRant ;( Btw i have a few INFP acquaintances [altho most of my close friends are other types] and man, do I resonate w them as well. So much. Maybe not the doom and gloom or anxiety or shyness- I don’t get that at all and I certainly gain energy from others waaaaay more than I do time alone. But being stuck in one’s head playing out insane unrealistic scenarios that will never happen but that one dreads anyways so I spiral into madness and unproductivity? Yep. I get that. That’s me. Procrastination empress, is what they should call me 😂

He’s a legend. The only issue I have with Frank is that his dry humour re. introversion might be taken the wrong way by people who are willing to hone out upon him dropping them just to prove that it’s not a healthy or desirable personality type (outside strictly-circumscribed intellectual circles). That and the fact that those random sponsored-ad breaks are annoying but I don’t think there’s much he can do about that. Otherwise I’d give him a 10/10 for each one.
