Hi Maria, I have been watching you for the longest, you were one of the first asmr you tubers I came across. And since seeing you struggle with what is going on around the world as all of us have also struggled. I cannot even imagine what it is like for you because your family is in Russia, your home land is Russia. So I know for you it’s 100x more difficult. But since you uploaded this video, and you express the happiness you experienced in Michigan surrounded by family, with all respect of you don’t mind me saying this, why don’t you guys move somewhere closer to family? I can imagine that it would be so good for you and your family in the sense of having family close. But again with all respect, you guys as a family you have your reasons as to why you are living in California. But also it was so nice to hear you tell us about your trip to Michigan. So happy you had a nice break and had such a wonderful time that it filled your heart with pure happiness. Love you so much Maria, I truly consider you a safe place while I watch your videos because I my self as a new mom I’m battling some difficulties. So watching your videos have an even more stronger impact on me now. I have truly enjoyed watching your videos for so long now. Well over 5 years. Again love you so much ❤️

Weirdly enough this video is very comforting given the increased tension and misery across the US (at least, I'm feeling that). We're all so pitted against each other, it's easy to forget that most people are good. Most places are lovely. And there are many more kind and lovely and safe people than crazy and cruel - it's just that our news makes the crazy and cruel feel so loud. Thank you for uploading this.

I disagree with this so much. I don't watch or read the news. I travel for a living, mostly the states but also Europe, Canada, and Mexico. Everywhere I go, everyone is mostly nice and very welcoming. I'd recommend letting go of your political biases. I only use this terminology because I noticed you said "we're all so pitted against eachother". It's quite an evil way to live..judging people each and everyday. Feels good to just talk to people as people. Couldn't care less about anyone's political views.

Hi Maria! I'm from Michigan and grew up in a small town as well with only about 1,000 people. We also were surrounded by lakes, around 50 of them. I have such fond memories of riding my bike down back roads to the lakes in the summer. There's something really magical about Michigan. Even though it has its flaws, there's so many places where you can get away and just be surrounded by nothing but nature and water. The Great Lakes are truly healing to be around. I don't know if it's because they're freshwater, but I feel so recharged whenever I visit. If you haven't gone to the UP or Mackinac Island, you have to go next time! There are no cars allowed on Mackinac Island; everyone gets around using bikes or horse carriages. There's tons of cute shops and things to do as well. And there's so many beautiful parks and nature attractions in the upper peninsula. I can see you loving Kitch-Iti-Kipi (or the Big Springs). It's breathtaking.

pseudo-Yooper here with a lot of family in Upper Michigan, Keweenaw Peninsula, waaay up North! would strongly recommend a visit farther North if you'd like a very outdoorsy adventure, Maria! make sure to go any time between June-August otherwise you'll deal with crazy weather and intense ice and snow otherwise. Similar situation here except I'm from the midwest and went to SoCal for university and a better career start -- honestly it's quite torturous to endure for 4-10yrs, especially for young poor people. The hustle is jarring, bang for your buck is laughable. Wish opportunities were more equally distributed so we could have our cake and eat it, too. Having a great job in a rural/gentle/slow place is so hard it's like the new ideal

I am so happy to hear about how wonderful your time was in MI. I am from here, born and bred, and just moved back here from CA in March. The first thing I realized was 1) how quiet it was and I heard the birds and the wind; and 2) I had missed trees! There were no trees where I lived (Long Beach). But my family is here and my good friends and I do appreciate that it's not hectic like CA. I'm very happy to be here.

I just hope you know that you can hold both space for acknowledging your struggle as well as being grateful for what you do have. I’ve had a long journey to being comfortable feeling my feelings, in general, but in regards to my struggles. At least without feeling I was “whining”. It sounds like you had a fantastic time in Michigan! I can relate to what you are saying so very much -- all of it. I think things happen for a reason and you feel how you do about your visit to Michigan for a reason. Whether it be the land, atmosphere or people -- you felt connected and that means something. Here in NY I feel like I have to try ten times harder to make things work and or work so hard to belong. It honestly shouldn't be that way but I push through. My family is here and our kids are in the schools - that makes it tough. Sending positive vibes your way - always. Thank you for being real, true, inspiring and such a light! Michigan is absolutely beautiful - my family calls it God’s Country. All of my extended family, including my parents were born and raised there. Unfortunately, Caterpillar brought my parents to Illinois when my dad graduated with a degree in engineering but we returned to Michigan at least 2 - 4 times a year while I was growing up. I go back at least once a year now that I’m an adult. Once I cross the state line, I truly feel myself calming and enjoying the peace & beauty that is there.

Wow everything you said at the end of the video I totally relate to. And it’s so nice to feel that I’m not alone, because a lot of the time I look at other people and wonder why everything seems so easy for them and so hard for me but like you said having a different perspective and focusing on yourself & the right things will come along💖

This sounds like such a wholesome break 😌 I'm from England and when I was a kid in the 90s we never locked our house - doors were always open! Wouldn't dream of that now... but maybe I've just seen too many thrillers/horrors etc 😅

I just made the move from LA, California to Solon Springs, Wisconsin. It is such a big change from fast city life to now slow calm town life. I am scared for the harsh winters here but have been reassured by kind neighbors that as long as you are active, open minded and fully embrace the change then the winters are as enjoyable as the summer. Wish me luck. 😬👍

Hey Nadia, looks like you have a few months until winter but I thought I'd offer some survival advice. Make sure you have: •A very warm parka (try to get one that covers your thighs and behind) with a hood. •A hat like a carhartt beanie underneath the hood •Fingerless gloves for driving and seriously warm mittens otherwise. Gloves are not a good idea because of so much surface area and heat loss. •Wool socks, knee-height waterproof boots with insulation and plenty of traction for ice. •Lightweight and heavyweight sweaters for layering, lightening up when it's warmer or doubling down for early Feb •Thick pants -- this is my biggest unresolved issue because you can feel the sharp air through denim :/ Dressing properly for the extreme winter makes all the difference between being miserable and being able to stay outside for an hour or two. Also drink hot beverages like tea or coffee and have it in a thermos so you can take swigs that temporarily revitalize you. Last tip: copy locals and ask for help if you're still suffering. Best of luck!!

Where I grew up, it was also totally ok to just ride around in the back of friends' trucks. I remember being REALLY excited when I finally got old and big enough to be allowed to do it. I've never heard of anyone being hurt. It's a classic small town fun thing. 😊 Similar wintertime activity: towing kids in snow tubes behind your pickup truck, which is outfitted with snow tires or chains! (That I DID hear about causing injuries, though, if there was ice.)

There have been plenty of injuries and deaths from people riding in the back of a truck. My first experience was at 9 years old when a neighbor family's 16 year old son died and three other young men were severely injured. They were driving down a country dirt road minding their business and a 30 something year old man was speeding along and decided he didn't need to stop at the sign. 😞

Id watched your recent video about your trip to Michigan last night, and then this came up in my recommended videos so i watched it. You said a lot of the same things. About how you want your daughter to experience the freedom in childhood that you did, your trouble connecting to people in your area, how much you love Michigan (as someone who lives closer to Detroit it's a little different for me lol) except in the more recent video you seemed to have a bit more sadness in it. I just want you to be ok. Your videos are so helpful, and they bring comfort to so many people. You really deserve to feel the happiness snd comfort you provide so many others. I hope that something can happen to help your pain. And i feel bad that i can't provide anything other than words and my hope for your happiness, but it's all i got. You deserve happiness and peace. It's good you try to remember to be grateful for what you have, that's important. But sometimes the healthiest and most realistic thing you can do is acknowledge and accept that sometimes there is no silver lining, and that its ok for some things to just be not good. But i do think you deserve every bit of happiness and more. You do angelic work on here

I’m originally from Michigan, and I absolutely love going back. The northern parts are gorgeous with so much to do. The people are so friendly in the Midwest and down to earth. I miss it. I know exactly what you mean about trying hard to connect with people. Faster paced states are very superficial and Michigan is more accepting. I feel similarly in the city I live in now.

I can relate to you, moving to a large city then feeling out of place sometimes. In big cities, people are always in competition with one another and I feel like people make friends and acquaintances based on what they can get. You are grounded and probably look for deeper connections and simpler things like being in nature with your family. I don't know but that really resonated with me. Maybe you are where you are to take the lesson you need and move on. You are very graceful in your journey and it is so inspiring.

I relate so much to your thoughts and feelings, Maria. For years you have helped me through hard times and reminded me that I am not alone! I try to pop in every once in a while, hoping to remind you that you are not alone! You're a beautiful soul. You do so much good and you help so many people. There aren't many good, pure souls left in this modern world. I have found that if you realize you have to try hard to make connections, you may not be surrounded by many people worth connecting to your energy, and that is okay! It is good to do self reflection and ask yourself what you can change to do better. But always hold true to yourself and the same pure energy will gravitate to you. I'm so grateful to have your content as a part of my life. With all of the things in life that do not come easily, know that you have changed lives by being yourself and making your videos. I'm sure it is not easy, but it is greatly appreciated, and I hope it is rewarding for you to know what a difference you've made. Thank you for all you do and I love you as a part of my family! Best wishes for you to one day end up exactly where your heart feels most at peace, and to live your happiest life there. ♥️
