Here’s a tip.. before putting them in the microwave, wrap your sliders in a damp paper towel instead of dry. That will sort of steam the buns and make them nice and soft.

There were some truly dark times before regulations. Bread contained sawdust, and coffee often times had ground acorns as filler. Not sure if this new age of lab made frozen meals is better or worse. At least I know where sawdust comes from, lol.

dash1dash2 When i went to the department of health to procure my food handlers license the class was informed that legally an item can be called beef with only 70% beef. Filler can be anything from bread to soy to horse. 1% of rat is also allowed as it is impossible for the FDA to unsure 0% when companies produce such large quantities. If it doesn't say 100% beef it is not all beef. Companies advertising 100% beef have a legal obligation to make sure its an all beef product. If it just say beef they no legal obligation to give us 100% beef. Profit is the only thing that matters this greedy corporate capitalist society we live in.

Funny thing is I can buy the frozen White Castle burgers here, but there is not a White Castle restaurant no where around here, but what we do have is Crystals which taste identical to me. I have bought the frozen ones to carry into work a few times. Not great, but not bad either like you said. I nuke them frozen while in the plastic and it steams the crap out of the buns which I kinda like. There are no Food Lions around here either.

I'm from St. Louis, so I am PRO White castle! I live i Texas now, so I have to eat frozen White Castles now. But you will never beat the restaurant White Castles, So good. but from microwaving heres what I have learned, 1) YES best if thawed, just takes about a hour in or out of the Frig. 2) Before microwaving separate the 2 burgers from each other, make a space. 3) Always open at one end, helps with the steamy effect. 4) Frozen 30 seconds, the flip over upside down for 30 seconds., Thawed 40 seconds straight. after the microwave turns off, 10 seconds of NOT opening the microwave. TA DA!

I'm not saying either is gourmet food, but I tried the ones in the freezer case and then said never again, drunk or not. At least the restaurant ones I can justify under the influence, not so much the next day, once the damage has built up to explosive proportions.

What I do to get the best experience with the WC sliders, is thaw them first. That already makes a huge difference. But then I pressure cook the thawed sliders for 3-4 minutes. They come out outstanding. Very close to fresh made.

I remember White Castle in NYC back in the 60's and they were very different than they are today. Back in the day they were much flatter and kinda greasy. The buns weren't near as fluffy as they are today. It may be nostalgia but they were much better back then. There are none where I live now but on a recent trip to Michigan to visit my son I discovered there was one down the way a bit. I found the buns too fluffy and the greasy nature completely gone. My local supermarket started selling the frozen kind I can tell you that you should wet the paper towel before wrapping. Micro thawed for a minute, add a bit of your own cheese. Micro for 30 secs more. When they come out squish them a bit, squint your eyes and pretend you are 6 years old again.

Not only that but you're correct in assuming the original owners of the product probably would be turning in their graves if they saw what corporate decisions have done to their product. Dehydrated onions? Holes in the patty? Really low quality now. Hence the reason the taste has changed. Back in the day we went out of our way just to get to a White Castle. They no longer appeal to me.

Input from a former grill cook at a 5 star restaurant. The White Castles are the best frozen hamburgers when prepared properly and if it's been stored properly (some stores do not keep them cold enough consistently, especially gas station 2 packs). That being said, the best burger period is fresh. Grab a small pack of 80/20 ground beef, a small block of sharp cheddar, red onion, pickle, lettuce, condiments, cheap buns and cook it all yourself fresh. It takes ten minutes of time and about 15$, you'll get way more yield, can cook to your liking, and you don't have to read the ingredients. Don't press the meat, flip only once after laying seasoned side down, melt the cheese on the meat is steaming, serve on warmed buns and that's literally it no need to spend money on 6 tiny burgers for 5, 6 dollars.

I met Dave Thomas once. When I was really young, I use to Intern at the Louisville Zoo as part of it's youth outreach education program. We did minor jobs around the Zoo, but part of it was acting as a guide for certain vip style groups. Dave had shown up with some extended family and my job was basically showing them around. I didn't really know who they were until he mentioned he was high up in Wendy's and that when I got older I should let him know and apply, he said he would see to it I got a job.

The White Castle burgers are almost as good as in the restaurant when they are thawed. White Castle has always been about the journey for me though. It was always a bunch of friends crammed into the car after a night of partying or going to the headshop in NJ to pick up a new bong and then going to munch out on the way back.

In my part of Ohio, we have a chain called Hamburger Station. They serve sliders in a more traditional method; fresh grilled, topped with dill pickles, loads of onions and a splash of mustard. Very basic, much better flavor than White Castle, Krystal or most any other slider out there.

I was born and raised on White Castle burgers back in Brooklyn. They were like 15¢ when I was growing up. I still love them even though the closest WC is like 1,000 miles away. So I have to "settle" for the frozen ones, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

I love the frozen White Castle burgers. I've had other brands of frozen sliders as well, but I still prefer White Castle myself. I think they have more flavor to them.
