Hi Kevin, just started carving and your video's are very helpful. I have one problem though my roughing out knife is a Flexcut and I just can't remove the material as quickly as you do. Please tell me what kind of knife you are using and where can I get one. Thanks and keep up the video's, I'm going to try them a;ll..........David. ,

Hey David, I used the same knife (Flexcut roughing knife) before the fillet knife I now use. Amazon carried a similar fish knife. It’s called a Green River boning knife.

Kevin - when you harvest carving wood, do you cut it to approximate dimensions for drying? Do you seal the ends?

Steve, I use kiln dried pine now. Back a few years ago I would collect carving wood from windfalls. It was all Balsam Fir. Most of it was green wood. I would quarter it and remove the heartwood. I carved several hundred figures that way and never had any cracking

I’m not at all trying to tell you how to make your videos. I’m just talking out loud But from what I’ve seen so far on your channel compared to everything else on KZfaq. If you slowed down just a little and talked out what you were doing you would have the best tutorial/ carve along videos on KZfaq hands down. But your videos are still awesome!

No worries Justin. My problem is not having a lot of time to spare for doing videos. I am very busy most of the time. As for me talking it probably won’t happen. I can add text as to what I’m doing but it still requires time. Thanks for the comment. I hope to have a new video within the next week
