The Death of Ronald McDonald | Why You Haven’t Seen the Clown in a While

Ronald McDonald died 2016 and no-one noticed and cared.
McDonald’s says they retired Ronald from the public eye in 2016 the be sensitive of all the creepy murderous clowns allegedly appearing in the wild. While other sheeple just accept this at face value…I don’t buy it.
Ronald McDonald is McDonald's. Why would McDonald's get rid of a 60-year-old fast food mascot that’s basically the company because a couple of doofs in rainbow wigs and plastic masks were chilling in public? And now, as McDonald's is going hard on their Grimace, Birdie, the Hamburger, and McDonaldland nostalgia advertising, Ronald is nowhere to be found.
What happened to Ronald McDonald, our burger papa? I needed to know. WE needed to know. So I decided to get down to the bottom of this mystery and figure out why Ronald McDonald disappeared.
Who killed Ronald McDonald? What caused the clown’s death? Why has Grimace replaced Ronald? Will McDonald’s ever bring the clown back? Is Ronald McDonald the Joe Camel of fast food?
Turns out, what actually happened to Ronald is a lot more about him being an unsuccessful commercial mascot the release of the Super Size Me documentary, and the push for this commercial juggernaut to stop taking advantage of children’s health.
Additionally, I sat down with George Longley, formed Leo Burnett creative who wrote and art directed hundreds of kids commercials, and child’s TV written, Joel Jessop, to learn the most effective strategies in kids advertising and the ethics of marketing junk food.
This is the real reason McDonald’s got rid of Ronald McDonald. And it has nothing to do with creepy killer clowns.

A really good commercial is Story/Gimmick first, Brand second. It’s part of the reason why I hate what we’re vaguely calling commercials right now, because 90% of advertising at this point is either “Hey, Remember That Thing?” or “Hey, Remember That Thing II: Hot New Celebrity Edition!” and it’s driving me crazy. Honestly, I think the Clown Craze in the back half of the year was just the perfect excuse to drag Ronald out into the woodshed and kill him.

I noticed that they didn't make Ronald McDonald crocs.
@joeybaseball7352
@joeybaseball7352 10 күн бұрын
@georgelongley8078 they did make red and yellow McDonald's branded crocs. Just not Ronald themed. It was golden arches themed. But they made Grimace, Birdie, and Hamburgler themed crocs with the series. Seems like a purposely missed opportunity, since Ronald literally wears big red clown shoes.

Awesome vid! I'd say that Ronald never really was that big here (quebec city). I don't remember seeing a Ronald bench for example. So I must say I didn't really realize what was happening with him.
@ArianaAlexis
@ArianaAlexis 13 күн бұрын
Thank you! And the reason you never saw Ronald was that Quebec had much stricter laws on advertising to kids. As in you couldn’t. It was the only province in Canada though that had those laws

This is the fundamental reason why I am very against private advertising to children, their brains are too early in development to really seen past the propaganda corporations use to sell products. And even if you have very conciencious parents trying to instill good health habits into their kids, the machine of American advertisements is a lot for the best parents to combat as an influence on their children. Heck it’s why I intend to greatly minimize the amount of advertisements my kids are exposed to that are within my control.

at least in the two different mcdonalds franchises in two different states in two different parts of the country, one being a small town and one being a medium large city that I worked at, the eggs were always real on the mcmuffins. on the biscuit sandwiches (folded egg), they were "liquid egg product".

I've seen pictures of a thing that looks like an egg log but never in any restaurant. They had this steel egg ring thing with six circles on it that you'd crack an egg into and then drop the top half of the grill down on top of to cook them. Leave it to McDonald's to find a way to make everyone think an egg is some how not really an egg 😂 Anyway THANK YOU! I love your content. It's always so interesting to watch.

They used to use liquid egg but now it's freshly cracked. Based on the amount of egg shells I've gotten since the switch, I think it was a bad idea. Bring back the liquid egg!
