It's definitely loyalty. In the anime's Resurrection F arc, Ginyu came back and never once thought of taking Frieza's body, unless he was planing to take his body if he ever transformed. Although my headcanon is that Ginyu just doesn't want to do all the work that it would require to run the Frieza Force, and would rather settle being number 2 of the Frieza Force. During the Namek saga, Ginyu was the 2nd strongest person in the Frieza force, only behind Frieza himself.

I think Frieza will just dodge Captain Ginyu Body Switch technique because he Frieza probably already seen Ginyu use his Technique before!

My head canon has always been this. Ginyus body swap technique requires the element of surprise, that's why it worked so well on everyone he's tried it on, they had no idea what was going on, but once they were paralyzed it was to late and the switch was in progress unless there was outside interference. Frieza is likely to have been one of the few that knew about Ginyus ability to body swap, and being so vastly more powerful than Ginyu would maybe have been fast enough to get out of the way before he was able to fully even say the words, loyalty or not, Frieza would have never let someone with such a potentially dangerous ability so close to him unless he knew he was able to stop them.

Feels like a long time since a good ol fashioned Geekdom DB lore-ish video. I would imagine that Frieza, being as paranoid as he is, was alway wary towards any potential attempt by Ginyu to using his body change ability, and Ginyu would also know that about him. Basically I don't think Ginyu could or would even imagine a scenario where he would even be able to pull off the technique on Frieza without Frieza being ready for it.

So Toriyama may not have had King Cold in mind when he was writing the body change technique, but that would be a major consideration for Ginyu before trying the move on Freeza.

I think you overlooked an important factor when discussing whether or not he "could" use it on Frieza: that is, could he actually hit Frieza with it? On Namek he only uses it successfully twice, once on Goku and then on Bulma, both times they were surprise attacks. We also see his attempts to switch bodies fail at least 3 times, once when Goku manages to intercept it while injured, and twice when the frog is put into the path. That's not a particularly impressive success rate. (he also uses it in Ressurection F, again a surprise attack). The attack is very telegraphed, and we've never seen him successfully take someone's body (that he was trying to) other than in a surprise attack. And given that Goku in an injured Ginyu body was able to intercept it gives us at least a ballpark idea of how fast the technique is to use. Regardless of whether the skill would work on Frieza or not, I don't think there's even a chance that he manages to hit him with it. He probably wouldn't even get more than the first syllable out of his mouth before Frieza counterattacks him.

I think it's even more simple. Frieza has to know about the technique. He would never keep Ginyu around unless he had a way to counter the technique.

It's obvious... Being head of the Ginyu force means he gets to practice his sweet dance moves. He couldn't do that if he was too busy running an empire.

My head canon has always been that Frieza was somehow aware of the body change technique and warned Ginyu against trying it on him. Ginyu, having no way of knowing if Frieza could actually defend against it or was totally bluffing, never saw any reason to try as he was already #2 in the crew.

My assumption was always devotion and loyalty. He by far seemed like Frieza’s loyal soldier. Even Frieza’s immediate right hand men so much as offered to betray Frieza (intended or not). It probably never crossed his mind. He enjoys a good fight and does have a sense of pride to himself, but serving Frieza seems to be a big deal to him/

Captain Ginyu can change species and races as stated in the video, from Saiyans to frogs and more, but based on his body swap with Bulma, that basically confirms that Captain Ginyu can also switch genders. I have heard back in middle school of... of the kids who got Dragon Ball video games and people on reddit asking if Captain Ginyu was originally a female, like if his original body was that.

i always figured since frieza knew about the technique, ginyu probably feared that he would be prepared or able to dodge/counter it. imagine the repercussions if he tried it and failed. it’s fear not respect imo.

Interesting if Ginyu's body wasn't his but one he stole to be stronger and then become the leader of the Ginyu Force.

knowing Frieza, he probably had a counter prepared of some kind. It's possible he had a greater trust in Frieza's ability to run the show and organize, so I see the loyalty angle.

There's also the element of Frieza knowing about Ginyu's ability. Even if he could potentially get off the swap, he'd need Frieza to basically stand there and let it happen or be taken by surprise. Ginyu probably didn't wanna risk being caught in the act by Frieza who was even in those days very fast and perceptive. Sure, it could technically be unblockable, but not necessarily unavoidable and not worth the risk. He did also have a pretty stable and comfortable life. Leader of his evil power ranger group with an emperor who liked him and rarely got challenged.

Hey, could Captain Ginyu have a form of immortality with his body swap ability because, for example, say that a race of beings out there in the universe are very long lived, like tens or even hundreds of thousands of years, and Captain Ginyu switches bodies with a member of that race, would that mean that Captain Ginyu would have the same lifespan of that race that he switched with? Because, as said in this video, Captain Ginyu, when he changes bodies, yes, he does do it for the power, but when he does switch bodies he actually changes the race and species that he did when he turned into the Saiyan Goku and a frog. So I just imagine Ginyu gets a body, and it has a certain lifespan, and when he is approaching the end of that body's lifespan, he can then switch bodies again to get a new body, a younger, stronger body, with more life to go and he lives on from there? Like imagine that. Ginyu, when he picks a body, say that that race that he has turned into now has like 80 to 90 years of life expectancy, then when time passes and he is around those years of age, then he can switch to, again, a new younger body and the race that he switches with then has, let's say has a lifespan that is hundreds of years, like 500 years or 800 years, or whatever, or even if he doesn't do that and he just switches bodies with beings that have lifespans of about 50 years to 70 years or 90 years to maybe 20 years, like even if he switches bodies with a short lived race he would continuously do that and it would "reset the clock so to say." Like, for example, say that he has 7 years to live, then he goes into a younger body now he has like... 18 years to live. And even if the races that he is switches bodies with are short-lived, he can constantly switch bodies to have more lifespan and exist for a longer period of time. Another example, say that Captain Ginyu switches bodies with a child, like an 8 year old or something and he grows up in that body until he is around 70 or 80, and then by then he can switch bodies with another kid and then grow up all over again. It would be like he has infinite chances at life, or to be more correct, he has infinite chances to redo life. The point is that Ginyu could use this as a form of immortality to continue existing for long periods of time from constant switching. Hopefully, that makes sense if you aren't lost with my horrible examples. However, tell me what you all think.

Freezas' race wouldn't have anything to do with it as Ginyu got his shown body from one of Freezas' race in the first place. With that said, Freeza not only knows about Ginyus technique where Goku didn't but Freeza is crazy more powerful then Ginyu as well as FAST. The moment Ginyu would even prepare for it, Freeza could not only avoid it but also just simply kill him fast. Also I think if he had taken Freezas' body he would just be able to transform himself like Freeza can. I don't think it matters what form Freeza would be in when he took the body as I think the body just works on its own with transformations.

Quick theory. What if goku took the same idea that Frieda did, transforming to 100% and showing it to Gohan when they were in the hyperbolic time chamber. But then realizing that that power up isn't smart because it drains/ slows you down if not mastered perfectly. Thus evolving it.

I felt like Ginyu was wanting Frieza to lose or be pushed to his limits so he could steal his body then. Like it was an opportunity, knowing Goku's reach in power figured Frieza wouldn't be that much stronger. Similar to Vegeta thinking his zenkai boost would trump Frieza even if a transformation happened. Also, feel like Frieza has some mental guard against it, since Frieza did display psychic abilities. The BChange looks like it some form of telekinesis.

Because Frieza is Tactically Smart, He Lets Ginyu have Freedom to do what he wants as long as he answers to him, and that his dominance/intimidation towards his army to avoid any member to even think about a coup shows. Plus, even though Ginyu is a greedy opportunistic nitwit, he does have loyalty, and he doesn't bite the hand that feeds him.

He's 2nd in command, only behind the two rulers King Cold and Frieza (Zarbon, Dodoria and the rest of the Ginyu Force, being the equivalent of "right hand men"). Frieza probably knew about his technique so the element of suprise would be gone, besides if it doesn't work for whatever reason, he's not getting a 2nd chance, he would be dead in seconds, it's not worth the risk. Also King Cold would kill him in his Frieza body (or vice versa if he instead took King Cold's body), once he figured it out.

That brings up alot of questions. How did he know that change now technique would work on Goku? Did he try this move before? If so is caption gyinu that person we all know or was he previously someone else? I'm sure that change now technique would not work on frieza due to his extremely high power level. Goku was stronger using the kaokin technique but was still significantly weaker than frieza in his first form at the time. Who knows.

I think he also feared King Cold, he wouldn’t know how to use his full power or his techniques. So I think I wouldn’t have been able to beat him if he did switch bodies.

I think what you said about first respect because after all he was promoted to a rank of Captain and given his own unit of command, the ginyu force, you have to think of freeza's force as a star trek style naval admiralty empire with star wars style powers, and tech from both, that being said, freeza as not only his superior but commanding officer, literally admiral, combine that with freeza's immense power and skill he was probably fully aware of any and all of ginyu's abilities and could foresee his actions in combat, clearly ginyu should just stick to his rank

In final form I don't think he'd be able to. Not couldn't. Wouldn't be able to. Freeza would hear "Ch..." and move so fast before Ginyu got to the vowels in "Change Now!' that Ginyu would be dead so quick it'd take him a few seconds to realize he was standing before King Yama.

Loyalty is probably the main reason as his loyalty to Freeza seems to be made as a main staple of his character. However if he did try it, it probably wouldn’t work out as Freeza is aware of the technique and the risk that Freeza would kill him, before he gets the chance to swap bodies, would be too high. Also while I don’t personally believe it, there is a slim possibility that Freeza could resist the ability. I might be misremembering, but Ginyu said that no one but Freeza could defeat the Ginyu force. So it’s possible that Freeza might simply have hax resistance to that ability. Tho its more likely he’s just too smart and powerful to let it happen to him.

My question would be then, what if Frieza actually threatened Ginyu, as Frieza is likely to do that? I also mean a serious threat, not like those threats he just throws out to make his subordinates cooperate.

I feel like it was a waste they didn't do more with Ginyu in DragonBall Super would have loved to have seen a new formation of The Ginyu Force.

Next question:Could Ginyu switch bodies with a fully synthetic android? And what would happen if he tried? (Assuming Ginyu doesn't realize his opponent is an android) And what about switching bodies with Shenron or Porunga? I wonder what would happen...

Yep, loyalty plays a huge part as for the reason behind Ginyu not doing Freeza like that and besides if we factor in the Dragon ball super Freeza's revival arc, Ginyu while in the frog body performed this technique on Togoma(who at that time was astronomically stronger that previous arc villains) was successful in switching bodies with him so yeah, power does not bother the technique at all.

Ginyu was a surprisingly loyal guy and actually a pretty decent guy, putting aside the casual genociding of entire species of course. I do thin he could certainly take Frieza's body, as long as he has the element of surprise, cause if Frieza, who is quite the paranoid fellow, catches even a hint of Ginyu's plan, he's more than fast enough to neutralize the threat before it happens. But yeah, if Ginyu gets the drop on him (A perfect moment would be to do it during one of his pose making performances) he could totally succeed. As to weather or not Ginyu could get the hang of wielding Frieza's power, when Frieza himself back on Namek could barely control his own true form's power, is a different matter.

In my opinion I think the real reason is because if he did, King Cold would pick up from it and just kill him in Frieza body.

He took Tagoma’s body and in Super Tagoma is stronger than Z’s first form frieza so it would work for sure

Captain should know there are weaknesses to his own technique. He was not able to use Goku’s body to it’s fullest potential. Which leads me to believe, he wouldn’t be able to use Freiza’s body to its fullest potential. If there’s a chance he was aware of that, it wouldn’t make sense to steal Freiza’s body unless if he was trying to survive Frieza’s death attack.
