Casemiro has put in some seriously strong performances for Manchester United as of late, helping push them back into Premier League title contention.
United have won 3/3 games since returning from the World Cup, and look like a seriously well oiled machine with Casemiro and Christian Eriksen in midfield. But it's the Brazilian who has shone since joining in the summer, and is nominated for Player of the Month in December.

As a Real Madrid fan for over 20 years, I'm happy to see how people can realize just how good Casemiro is. I was gutted when he was sold to Man Utd, but luckily Tchouameni is brilliant, so it's a win/win for both clubs really.

Casemiro has been what United fans have been crying out for years for. What past managers have tried to turn mcfred into… Erikson has been what United thought they was going to get from pogba. I adore them both. Been a breath of fresh air this year!

@@cam5556 VDB has been given several chances but it just hasn't worked out yet. His injury record hasn't helped either. I have been in the battalion asking for VDB to be given a fair shot but I'm starting to think maybe it wasn't meant to be

He is 90% of the reason we are outperforming expectations, he's absolutely magnetic to watch...I was quite indifferent to his signing and I couldn't have been more wrong.

ETH is the mastermind and the long term outcome would have been the same with or without Casemiro IMO, but in the near term Casemiro is largely the reason we are outperforming expectations. His football IQ, footballing ability, leadership and winning experience have pushed us up a level much quicker than we all expected I think.

I think his ability is unquestionable, and what i love most about him is he is bulletproof (like Martinez and Bruno, i have full confidence they will make it to May injury free). The only question mark remaining is when will his decline come - obviously the later the better. If we can get another 10/10 season out of him next season, then look to slow him down and phase him out the season after that perhaps, then it will undoubtly be money very well spent.

@@elijaholuwanishola4121 £70m and it's united which often gets charged more for w/e reason. But if casemiro stays good for 3-5 more years that's money fairly well spent. Fred was about 50m, for 20m extra for casemiro that's not too bad really. Obv cheaper younger options have been around, but that's a whole different subject.

Tbf Casemiro’s defensive numbers at Real have been on a steady decline in the last two seasons, much like Varane was in his last two seasons… I must say I was a little sceptical of him being able to seamlessly fit into this high press system. I thought he was getting slower and age wasn’t on his side… also at real he played in a much deeper system so there was always a concern whether he would fit into a high press and also players around him at real were much better so I’d think he might struggle doing his own work and cleaning up after someone

He IS the best defensive midfielder in the world. Kante and Fabinho are his only competition. Kante has been injured for a while now and Fabinho has been struggling just like Liverpool have.

People often forget that Casemiro is the reason why Modric and Kroos were able to dominate midfields for nearly a decade, and he’s the reason why RM were able to win the UCL back to back

He is so good. Every game I watch, it's amazing everything he does, every touch, every tackle, every pass is perfect. The one actual mistake he made (he gave up the ball and conceded a goal in one game) he then made and absolutely gorgeous assist to Cristiano Ronaldo (who wasn't having a good year at all) but because of the perfect weight of the pass was a pretty easy finish.

He literally is a tanker in Madrid's midfield, always passionate, and does whatever Zizou or Carlo ask him to do, never involved in any controversy or scandal, he defended Real Madrid badge all the way through, always has the discipline and keep on working hard, that's why Madridista deeply loves him. That’s just dumb to say… I’m a Real Madrid fan but saying Casemiro was the reason we won 3 UCL in a row is just dumb… he’s a crucial part of course but also Cristiano, Benzema, Ramos, Marcelo, Modric etc… Casemiro is the best DM of the decade but that Real Madrid team was one of the best teams ever… Casemiro has a lot of credit of course but he’s not the reason we won… he’s one of the many reasons…

Casemiro just keeps it simple and is intelligent. It’s what we’ve lacked since Carrick. For years watching Pogba take too many touches, it’s so nice to see a midfielder play the simple game. That assist against Forest simply wouldn’t have happened if it were Pogba. Granted, they’re totally different players, but Casemiro is everything we’ve lacked for years. Eriksen next to him is another who has an excellent passing range and decision making. The upgrade from McTominay and Fred is ridiculous. Couple that with Martinez instead of Maguire has literally transformed the team.

@@dharshanlakha8788 Bro I honestly don't think they will ever learn anything! 😂 No disrespect to McFred but just like Tifo said there are somethings which can't be taught. If it was that simple many midfielders would have been as successful as Casemiro or Rodri or the midfield greats from the past. Fred is 29, MC is 25 its just time to accept that they are not even in the level of being a bench player for United. We need players like Ambarat who wouldnt be massive massive drop-off when called upon.

@@lordjesselingardinho2193 I was able to watch the Bournemouth game at Old Trafford, so got the holistic helicopter view from the stands. watching Casemiro live is a true joy. such a responsible, disciplined and talented players. Basically a Keane regen. What I saw was that we attack and defend as an entire team, and are very disciplined in every players positioning during each game phase. Casemiro acts as the centrifuge for teams positioning, he decides where to go in relation to the ball, and the entire team shuffles accordingly. ie: i’m guessing that every player works out his pitch position relative to where casemiro is at any given time. when we have the ball, that’s why we now always have several passing options.

Casemiro has 5UCL’s and has lost just 2 competitive games for Brazil in over 50 appearances. How are people just discovering how good he is? He’s been the main reason behind RM’s recent dominant run in el Clasico stretching back since 2019. He’s a leader, a fighter and a gem of a footballer

Nobody ever compared Casemiro to Kroos or Modric while he was at Real Madrid, English pundits and their limited knowledge did that when he landed at United. Real is a great team because everyone understands their role! He is an enforcer type of DM very different to Busquets, So again nobody compared those two!

It hurt so much when he left (at least we got tchoumeni). I remember PL fans comparing Rice to Casemiro. Casemiro was key reason we won so many trophies. Zidane, kroos everyone has said how crucial Casemiro is to the set-up. His passing has always been excellent, it's just that he played alongside Kroos and Modric. Casemiro & Busquets are the best CDMs of this gen without any doubt.

I agree we're going for top 4 and a cup this season though. United still need more depth, and more goals, to challenge for the title all the way til the end of the season.

He was massively disrespected by the English pundits (not that they know anything) when arriving at Man Utd. Which was bizzare considering that he was absolutely brilliant in the champions league final against Liverpool only a couple of moths before he signed for Man Utd so it wasn't as if they didn't have recent evidence of his excellence to call on in addition to 7 or 8 years prior to that.

There’s a reason why he survived at Real for all these years as a regular starter… Real didn’t want to sell him and his teammates didn’t want him to leave but he didn’t like the fact that the club had planned for the future by signing Tuchomeni to supposedly replace him… and United offered him a contract that Real wouldn’t… fair play to him One of the few transfers that benefitted everyone… United finally got a world class midfielder; Casemiro got his big contract and Real pretty much offset the Tuchomeni transfer and have a player who will be a beast in the years to come

When you watch a player and think "I could do that" because they're making it look so easy, that's a sign of a world class player and that is Casemiro. As a side note, whenever you find yourself taking English pundits or journalists seriously just remember how they reacted to the signings of Martinez and Casemiro.

I was in tears while watching United vs Forrest, reason being Casemiro. They way he bossed the midfield was just priceless. We united fans were crying for a decent CDM since SAF left. Now we got a worldclass CDM. ETH deserves all the praise too.

I'm surprised all these years why United didn't try Madrid's path of combining experienced veteran player with youngsters, my point of view as a Madridista, it always seems United's board always half assed their system reformation by bringing a mega star that didn't really fit the team or brought up an unproven youngster that haven't really compatible with their veteran teammates

@@shaxxs The mega-star shirt-signing is what the board has been about until recently. As for promising youngsters, I agree that they should do that. Recently our scouts recommended Moises Caicedo but the board refused to cough up the circa 4 million pounds he only cost Brighton. Antonio Valencia recommended him as well as they are compatriots. Now if any club wants him, they'll have to pay around 70 million pounds for him. Rangnick recommended Enzo Fernandez, Julian Alvarez, Vlahovic, Gvardiol and a few others, but he wasn't listened to which I think was a massive mistake.

As a United fan, there is no title push. We aren’t in contention to win the league at all. The defence has tightened up and the general play is improving… there still aren’t anywhere near enough goals in that team. A top 4 position would be good for this season and let’s try get some silverware from one of the cups…

One of the best signings in PL history, a true world class player, leader and worth every single penny even at the age of 30. What VVD was for Liverpool could be Casemiro for United. His dominance and elegance is remarkable, also you see his world class passing abilities that always were slightly underrated. He also showed that he isnt dependent on Kroos and Modric and can perform in every team in the world.

Casemiro is a player who is aware, technically gifted within his position, determined & a excellent tactician. He reads the play, he does the dirty stuff, the stuff we love. He’s what’s needed and I’m a strong believer that talent like this isn’t taught it’s rare, within any position

Jj hates united being good so let him have his few moments of joy. We aren't in the title race it's just the media hyping and raising expectations without context. We look better yes but we still need time and it's fine if we don't fight for the title this season. Getting top 4 should be the target.

This is why Carrick was so important to us 10 years ago. I love that Casemiro is getting the recognition he deserves but it still upsets me that Carrick was so criminally underrated. A non United fan asked me the other day why Casemiro is so good and I said it's his passing, he does it so quick and it's so effective most people don't see it or realise how important it is. This was a great video that really sums up the importance of a defensive midfielder not just defensively but how they can control a game from deeper positions and in turnovers, and for me Casemiro and Carrick are prime examples of how to perfect it.

@@mikemcklieve he was the only real signing we made in summer 2006 after selling ruud, and we then won the next 3 leagues, 5 of the next 7 (losing the other 2 by goal difference and a point), 3 champions league finals and carrick started pretty much every game. shudda had someone lined up for his replacement years ago.

He was the best Brazil player in Qatar, also. Real Madrid legend and you had doubts about him, some of MU fans. Right now, the new assist in only 30' minutes on the field vs Charlton with the outside of his foot, like his companion, LM10, for the second Rashford goal in also half an hour on the pitch. The first one was also after his long ball, the second great ball up in one in one or two minutes. Legend.

I was able to watch the Bournemouth game at Old Trafford, so got the holistic helicopter view from the stands. watching Casemiro live is a true joy. such a responsible, disciplined and talented players. Basically a Keane regen. What I saw was that we attack and defend as an entire team, and are very disciplined in every players positioning during each game phase. Casemiro acts as the centrifuge for teams positioning, he decides where to go in relation to the ball, and the entire team shuffles accordingly. ie: i’m guessing that every player works out his pitch position relative to where casemiro is at any given time. when we have the ball, that’s why we now always have several passing options.

Excellent video. I think the goals per game stat (i.e. united have conceded fewer when he's playing) is also a product of ETH changing his tactics slightly - getting DeGea to kick it long rather than risk playing it short which he is BAD at, a sturdier hybrid press at the front with players who players like Antony who he knows can be trusted, etc. None of that is to diminish Cas' influence on the team though. A really underrated element of his play is how good he is at avoiding yellow cards when breaking up opposition counter attacks. Savvy stuff like that, on top of his excellent positioning and anticipation of the play, are why he's one of the best DMs of the modern era. United fans have been crying out for a proper 6 for years and now that we've finally got one it's aalllll coming together.

When he came in for the first 2 games he was failing to pass forward after winning possession from opposition and thus conceded position quickly leading to counters which he immediately fixed and understood the mentality of the team he has been a game changer for united and I am looking forward for them to win a trophy this year based on the strong defense and midfield.

Casemiro has been such a revelation. We have missed having this type of complete footballer in the midfield for so long. Matic was ok. But Casemiro is just streets ahead. I don't think we've really had anyone that can play this DM role on such a high level since Carrick retired nearly a decade ago.

He is great - It is the combo w Eriksen though that has made the difference. Even before Casemiro arrived and got up to speed Eriksen had already changed the quality of the midfield dramatically…

It’s a shame the year Pogba’s contract ran out, is the year man utd get 1.) a coach 2.) Varane is more available and creates a partnership with Lisandro Martinez 3.) Casemiro, a world class DM and no more McTom or washed up Matic. imo, Pogba’s talent would have us up there near Arsenal by now. Honestly ppl ask why Pogba performs for France but not for United? Simple we don't have a DM for at least half a decade who is in their prime AND fit. Pogba was expected to do everything which he can't, he can play deep but that restricts is other more positive attributes to his game. Pogba technically is one of the best midfielders in the world who can do anything KDB does difference is KDB has Rodri and Pogba doesn't.

Every other legendary/world class midfielder like Zizou, Iniesta, Modric never had poor quality around them. They all had Makelele, Viera, Xavi, Busi, Deco, Kroos, Casemiro, X.Alonso etc.

I was so happy when Real agreed to sell Casemiro to Utd and surprised they were prepared let him go. He's showing what I knew to be true, it's not just his defensive capabilities he's important going forward too. Casemiro is invaluable to the way the Utd play and he's truly world class.

Has been one of the 3 best midfielders in the world for over half a decade, and probably has another 2 seasons at a similar level in him. With Ten Hag’s tactical know-how he’ll be useful beyond that too. Just hope he stays fit. He also looks like he really relishes the game, constantly motivated machine.

It’s a bit soon to be thinking about titles, only way we get involved is if teams around us fumble - the next 5 fixtures or so will tell us where United are at competitively this season. Like most I’d be happy with top 4 though for sure this season we have enough to get that. Cas is class

We've needed a CDM for years now, in my opinion, the lack of one was the reason Ole saw no silverware. But now we've got one and got the best going at that we're very much back on track to get all the major accolades and hopefully, we'll see some silverware this season, in the form of the title maybe 👀

I think Casemiro is the best DM in the Premier League at the moment. He has so extreme control of what he does. Making it extremely difficult for the other teams to attack and making the job extremely more easy for the center backs and the keeper. And he is extremely good at starting the attack once he wins the ball.
