I don't think Alain Prost is underrated, I think he is underapriciated. He is like the good boy in class that's always done what he is told and brings in the good grades. All the drivers you summed up as the Mount Rushmore drivers are rememberd for either their cowboy mentality in racing or their personality and projects off track. Prost had neither of those. As the saying goes " good guys finish last" Thumbs up to your guest and I'd love to know what an actual family gathering is like with Amar and Chez 😂

He is one of the best drivers ever, I would not say he is underrated but its probably true that the fact that he drove against Senna did not help him much. Considering only 1988, 1989 and 1990 ... I will be nice and exclude 1991 which was a horrible year for him. Senna leads 36 - 4 in pole positions Senna leads 20 - 16 in wins And yet Senna had 4 more retirements than Prost in those years, so the win count would be even worse for Prost. Senna also won the 1988 and 1990 championships. And everyone who actually watched the 1989 season races SAW and KNEW that Senna was the best driver on the grid and in most races completely outraced Prost but was extremely unlucky by having a ton of issues and only finishing 8 out of 16 races that season, and yet he was not so far away from Prost in points at the end of the season, thats just crazy. So this definitely does not help him, but Senna is one of a kind so its a bit unfair to Prost aswell, if Senna was not there, Prost would have dominated those years. So he is definitely one of the best drivers of all time, regardless of everything else. Btw if you count 1988 to 1991, then Senna leads 27-16 in wins lol.... and if you count the 1993 also next to 1988-1991 when Prost was in a FAR MORE DOMINANT CAR, Senna still leads 32 - 23 in wins.... so where did that guy come up with Prost outsmarted and beat everyone? Senna during the years they raced together completely outpaced and outraced him, and just because Prost has a lot more started races and is 4 times WC with more wins does not mean he beat him, if Senna would have raced as much races as Prost after 1994 with the williams he would have far more wins and championships than he does with his career cut short.

Mansell may be the most overrated of all. He was also a crybaby. 11:40

Prost was a far better politician than his fellow drivers. He used the system and in general, we don’t admire those that are establishment figures. Imagine Senna with a full career. Prost would be an afterthought.
