“It was hard making link look good with his green hat” did they forget twilight princess link!?!?!
@XanderVJ28 күн бұрын
No, they didn't. Satoru Takizawa, the series art director since Majora's Mask, has been very open about the fact that he never liked the hat. In an interview he acknowledged the TP design as the closest he's ever gotten to make the hat look cool in his eyes, but it was still not cool enough for him. So when he got the opportunity to get rid of it in BotW, he took it.

My personal head cannon is that the hero's tunic is just a tradition for the hero, and since there hasn't been a hero for 10,000 years, the tradition was lost. The sheikah of 10,000 years ago, however, remembered this tradition, which is why they made him the "of the wild" set.

I don't necessarily care if Link is wearing green or Blue, in Wind Waker he wears a blue lobster shirt at the start of the game, and even let's you unlock it for your next save file to wear for the rest of the game. Four Swords introduced us to different colored Link's, with red, blue and violet, and I'm sure you can cycle down the entire range of colors as well. Blue tunic design fits perfectly for Breath of the Wild, but they did go back to sort of green for Tears of the Kingdom, but instead of all green, it was mix of browns and greens mixed together.

i think it also fits with the themes of loss of identity and melancholy in botw. link was not link anymore. he had to find bits and pieces of himself back in a world that moved on. even in the memory cutscenes, you feel detached from this link because he's so different and i think that's 100% intentional never take a bit design change just at face value or for the shock of it. maybe sometimes it's for shock but a character's design is the most efficient way to passively convey their story.

But in a setting where he's a knight and was never a Kokiri, he doesn't have to look like a forest gnome. I also don't know why people get hung up on the clothes or hype the stuff. I loved wearing different clothes in BOTW and the green stuff was the very last thing I wanted to wear. @BetaDude4025 күн бұрын
@@GoronMerchant A retroactive story justification can be unsatisfying for some people, but I should point out that there are multiple ways that stories are able to be justified. Literature majors use "Watsonian" and "Doylist" explanations for in-universe and out-of-universe explanations respectively. The problem is that Zelda games were never really developed with the idea of an overarching massive story structure like other media franchises. It was meant to be more like Mario in that regard, with each game being a different self-contained story using recurring characters kind of like a myth. Sure there would be references between games, and occaisionally direct sequels like with OoT and MM, but the intentions weren't to make a huge "Zelda Cinematic Universe" that was wholly consistent or accurate (case in point: the geography between games being absurdly different having to be handwaved away by writers as "oh that just happens sometimes, Hylians are used to it") With that said that doesn't make them less legitimate. I like the 3-timeline divergence at OoT, and I think that it makes sense to try and connect the stories together in a satisfying way. Some people don't like that and feel it takes away from the "mythos," or it relies on too much out-of-universe justification. It's not a sign of a lack of creativity at all, I think it's great, but there is also some merit in disliking the timeline as some fixed canon.

Blue was also Link's secondary color since "Ocarina of Time". Primarily the Hylian Shield, and even the Master Sword in some instances. While the hilt is technically indigo, depending on the lighting, it looks more bluish very often. So it doesn't look that out of place compared to other colors. Also, this makes Link Nintendo's biggest character with blue as their main color. Before Link, the only main Nintendo character associated with that color was Captain Falcon, which is a C-lister at best (sorry, F-Zero fans. Not the games' fault), while Link's green overlapped with Luigi's.

I miss his hat, so now I wear the OOT or TP outfit in TOTK all the time 😭
@amandaslough12522 күн бұрын
I honestly prefer wearing the regular Hylian tunic and climbing banana than ever wearing the new brand of clothing. Like, the Hylian tunic died green looks better than any of them anyway. Only reason mine isn't is because I only get one bandana so I rather pull off a "Goron Tunic" look that matches.

Bring the OG fit back 😭 I thought it was cool to see the similar differences in differences in how you get items. It’s a knights year color, it’s a traditional outfit, you’re not a fairy but were raised with fairies, etc

It shows the connection to Zelda and their bond as they both went from their own colors to a single shared color, blue
@metaltornado34575 күн бұрын
But Blue has always been Zelda's color. Link went from having his own color to wearing Zelda's colors.
@unoriginal25525 күн бұрын
@@metaltornado3457 the commenter is actually wrong here. ALL of the champions wear blue. It's simply the color of the champions.

He wears blue now because Anouma felt it was time for a change.

Dudes working on the Halo TV show also thought it was time for a change and had Master Chief not wear his helmet. Or his armor. Except that fandom actually has standards and pushed back against the obvious stupidity. The Zelda fandom lost.

Seeing ss link standing tall against demise, a human against a god with the master sword he himself forged with the breath of dragons, with his new searis of green guard outfit and the green cap Made him look so fierce A true hero of courage. Botw link eats rocks...
@joypink559920 күн бұрын
I always figured it was because of ALL the green in BotW. He would get swallowed up in the scenery. I like it, it makes him a bit more unique among the others, but I do wish his Hero of the Wild green tunic looked better. If it did, I would actually wear it from time to time.

I’m pretty sure his hat is exactly the reason why he’s been cool this entire time. This new Link just feels like a generic Genshin Impact character now
@Idk0527124 күн бұрын
Ngl I don’t mind the blue as it’s A) entirely optional as to if you wear it in both botw and totk And B) The point of link looking a tad goofy is understandable and I personally think the blue tunic has grown on me

Link wears blue because it's a completely different timeline. It's the 'I wish the triforce never existed in hyrule' timeline
@metaltornado34575 күн бұрын
A Link Between Worlds showed that if the Triforce didn't exist, the world would decay and fall into an abyss. It's basically responsible for holding the world together.

"hard to make him look cool with his green hat" there's is NO way they said that after 20 games, imo link looks cooler WITH his green tunic/hat.
@cdadamly6 күн бұрын
If they really dropped the hat to make Link look cool, then they're going against tradition. Back in Ocarina of Time, they added the white tights specifically to keep him from looking too cool.

As one in Green, Blue was a sign of royalty, a blue tunic made by the daughter of King Bosphoramus Hyrule, to commend the achievement of a Champion, chosen to pilot an ancient vehicle, Technically Monk Maz Koshia Gave Zelda Links Tunic as BOTW Link controls the Master Cycle Zero.

And then they gave us all of the updated versions of his previous outfits, and I keep him in the Twilight set 😂 It's one of the coolest of the 3d sets, with visible chainmail under the tunic, and thicker fabric that actually looks protective.

Kirby's sword ability has the green cap, and since I played kirby games as a kid way before zelda, I just assumed the green cap is a sword thing. Then seeing link don the same style, it made total sense since he swings a sword so of course he has the sword hat, cause it's a sword thing. .......it took me way too many years to realise it went the other way around.
@Anonymous_Otaku2593 күн бұрын
Link’s green cap and tunic is like Batman’s outfit. He is the dark knight protecting the city at night and looks cool and menacing, but once he is out of element in the daytime, he looks like a weirdo in a bat suit. 😅
