BYU should be thankful any P5 conference wanted them after a decade of horrible W-L records for a decade+ of independence. But, having grown up in the state of Utah one thing I know is the Mormon Church preaches thankfulness, but it's rarely practiced.

@@domin8ss Well that was an oddly personal, get everything off your chest comment. I think Byu has done respectably well given everything. Several 10 win seasons with only one sub .500 season in the last 12 years (not including inaugural BXII year). BYU had been on the BXII's radar as one of their possible expansion teams since back during the last conference realignment, it just feels like Byu finally reeled in their promised and deserved promotion.

@cinematiccatastrophe8338 Tell us how you really feel with that oddly personal belief. What noteworthy program did BYU beat in that decade? They lost to Arkansas in 2022. The Razorbacks are the SEC's whipping boy in football annually. There's also losses to UAB and USF in 2021. BYU's schedule was consistently packed with cupcakes like Texas State, Idaho State, Georgia Southern, and bottom feeders of P5 programs. Yes, I include USC in that total because USC was bad in 2021. That was the year before Lincoln Riley was hired. BYU's last quality win was against Utah on the 20th anniversary of 9/11. BYU's first season in the Big 12 is a reflection of everything I just pointed out. They got reduced to mediocrity with their uppitiness and sulking over their rejection by the PAC-12. Start playing on Sundays and more conferences will take you seriously. Nobody forced BYU to leave the MWC. They did that on their own. Had they stuck with the MWC, they would've had a tougher schedule than they created as an independent. One of the best parts of the MWC was watching the G5 schools beat up on the PAC-10 prior to conference realignment. Remember, BYU only gets half revenue while in the Big 12. The 4 newest members get full revenue. BYU has a big hill to climb to become 1987 relevant again, so put your shoulder to the wheel.

BYU is the next Baylor. Everybody will learn to hate them because of their religious uppitiness. Utah as a whole has a nose in the air problem. BYU is the worst, but the whole state is like that. I grew up there, and I am Mormon. When I realized this issue and that I was included in this stigma, I started working on myself. I've lived all over this country and currently in Florida, aka Lower Alabama. I can't stand being around other Utahans, especially those with BYU affiliation. Utah is still a program on the rise, but it definitely needs to improve its branding and merchandising to Texas levels. It would help make the program more revenue and achieve more recognition. More revenue means better facilities, which will aid in recruitment, etc.

After ND and probably FSU and Clemson there isn't another school that makes financial sense for either conference. That being said I think the B1G and SEC have to pick apart the Big XII and ACC of any meat, otherwise the Collegiate NFL won't be realized. This is like gym class when you pick the strongest players first, but eventually you need to pick the less skilled to fill out the team. You need to water down the Big XII and the ACC to the point they aren't recognizable as major conferences. Do I like this? As a ute fan I personally feel like thee feelings come from being frustrated the pac12 died. When we moved to the PAC we were respected, we felt like the new guy that no one cares about. So to build the program up and now being a program is real significance, not an elite or top tier but a good program. And now we are moving programs again and now power conferences are separated into the sec and big 10 and those left behind in the PAC 2, ACC, and Big 12. As a fan watching the program do so much right, winning games, making it to ny6 bowl games, upgrading their exposure, upgrading stadium and recruiting. We didn't do anything wrong and it feels like we are on the edge of slipping backwards. Of course there are toxic fans, but most of us are very polite and fun fans. My opinion is Utah being selected as the favorite to win the Big 12 is insulting to the hateful 8. Who is this new guy showing up that everyone says is super good?
