A story about how a lawsuit brought in the 1950s by a fishing float company in Dayton, Ohio set a precedent for patent law that is still taught in Law Schools today, along with a how-to primer on how float & fly fishing can revolutionize your angling skills - live from The Shop.

Arkansas lawyer here. Very interesting video. Never took patent law classes, so never read it. A few years ago, the Arkansas Supreme Court had a barbless hook case. Lol. Nice grateful dead flag!

A few thoughts: if you’re going to be lawyer, a patent lawyer is a good way to go. Unlike the rest of the legal profession, those folk get to go home at 5pm. I’ve always fished with a float, and, mostly, with a cork float, because I thought they were pretty, and easier to use with the peg holding the line. The fellows at Mad River told me about the Oros floats (they could not contain their excitement) which they, too, described as a game changer. (Mad River seems to come up with a lot of innovative tackle, and flies, and they seem to have Flip Pallot in their pocket). Thanks for the tip about mixing the Oros colors. Great idea!

I've got some cork floats I fish a nymph under... I like them a bit better than my Oros floats... they seem to land lighter, but I do need to remove my nymph and re-tie it in order to install nymph (tiny fiddle)
