What should be expected of an entry level technician working at his first job, is he assign a supervisor for an extended period of time for guidance, what are the tools requirements, what sort of jobs would he/she be task to do during the initial first month etc., what's the average pay like and anything you all so desired to add in.

The early 2000s df 200-225-250 had a defect on stb block being out of deck. Always popped between 3-5 cylinder. Must have done a 100 of them. Zuke sent block and heads , we'd send the popped block and heads to machine shop to have on the shelf for the commercial guys with no warranty. Was a busy few years.

I like the podcasts! Don’t listen to mercury when you call. I was rigging my own boat and called up Mercury outboard headquarters to ask a question and they told me “you can rig the boat yourself, there are too many electronics involved with the varados” turns out they were wrong. Only had to bring it somewhere to sync the DTS modules to the binacle.

My overheat alarm came on once. RPMs dropped as they should; Suzuki DF150. I immediately shut it down and went simple first. No pea pea stream.🤔. Trimmed it up… large piece of seaweed covering the impeller intake. 😎

When in doubt power out applies better to dirt bikes and snowmobiles in my experience

I think it is either teleflex or I flex they offer a digital shifter that control mechanical engines via a servo motor which actuates the shifter cables. Keep up the videos! Absolutely love watching them

Thanks for the callout - the reason I was asking - I pulled the head off a L6 350 with an overheat issue and the 4-5 cylinders were burnt through.

2005 Suzuki 225hp are very well known for overheating head cuz small water passes through the block around cylinders and head..it was my foul cuz I was doing a lot of shallow water fishing,, sand and stuff got in one of the head and overheating sensor never noticed it,,very expensive repair 😒

I have an old DT140 Suzuki that won’t pee on the expensive dual (octagonal) muffs that I brought but pees fine on the crappy single round muffs that came with the boat.

My question is this: I have a 2002 3.3L Yamaha F225, mid section was already done. Overheating was always a thing on the older "2-smoke" outboards my friends had when used in salt water (never had issues with my personal engines). I flush like a fiend, but I still always worry about it - especially knowing how much it costs to repair one nowadays. I pull anodes every year to make sure my flushing is working as it should, but I still always wonder if the alarm is going to scream as it should, in an overheat or low oil pressure situation. Is there a test I can run that forces the alarm to sound so I know the warning siren will sound off like it's supposed to? I bought and installed YDS on my laptop and have the proper cable, so I have that available to use. Would appreciate input on this. 🙂
