4th I agree that the Revel boxes are absolutely bitchin. I now understand why Flat Rate Master has to bottom boxes and 2 hutches with 3 side lockers.

I just bought a Matco 4s double bay that came with a free hutch on promo. I haven’t gotten it yet but I wish I had a snap on truck for hand tools. I know all of Matcos stuff is rebranded for 3x the price. But the boxes are in my opinion superior to everyone else

Was gonna upgrade my box to a Matco 4s triple bank, ended up finding a killer deal on a Mac MB199UCFD Tool cart, it great except for the 4 swivel casters.

The snapon boxes you can tie them together picked up a second 84 epiq dirt cheap and tied it to my existing box. It all started when I was new to the game I purchased a used classic and the paint was flaking off in big pieces and my rep replaced my box with a new one. Sometimes it's how your taken care of after the sale and after the test of time.

Back when I got out of high school looking at tech school the big thing was 78" top and bottom boxes. There was no such thing as hutches they had an intermediate box so you could have a 7' tall box. Seen picture can't remember Mac or snap on they had a stool so you could get into top drawer.

Matco makes a nice box. I say this as a snap on guy but the one area they seem to fall short in is customization. I'm not necessarily talking things like paint or trim levels but more of what you are talking about. I can configure a snap on box in virtually any way I want with tons of options. Not so much with the others. This is the primary reason I myself have a snap on box.

yup, I can understand where you are coming from on this. After looking at the Matco cart in person that I was going to buy sight un seen it just was not as much of a cart as what I wanted over the Mac cart. If you are thinking about spending the money these boxes cost, you want what you want and should buy only that. Great looking box though, now I know why you did not get a white with blue.

Cant win 'em all, all of the time, but your MATCO guy should be glad to move on and continue going forward with new business potential. That's a lot of nice box to fill up with new stuff. You probably dodged a bullet by staying with the Snap-on tool box. I've seen 5 top drawers full of sockets on 5 different boxes break right off the sliders and fall to the ground. Matco has changed their designs several times over the years and doesn't have the parts to service boxes from just 10 years ago. One of my coworkers had his drawer rip off and all they could do was give him some new sliders and suggest that he figure out how to mount them. So he traded it off to Snappy and replaced it with a 72 inch Masters series. Another co-worker had a 40 year old Snap-on toolbox that wore out s drawer and at first they couldn't come up with the parts to fix it so they offered him a new free replacement box. After he ordered it but before it shipped Snap-on found the parts they needed and let him decide if he wanted still fix it or take the new box. He fixed the old one and kept it for sentimental reasons. Sorry for the long post but I have tons of similar examples. I've been wrenching since 1972 I've seen a lot of money spent on bad toolbox decisions.

An old coworkers matco box separated at the center support column. Match told him basically tough shit. Same rep cried foul when I swapped my 4s for an epiq a few years later. Snap on rep literally said he don't care, it'll be covered. Easily 5000 lbs on the low end, I wanna know the box is gonna hold & be assured if it somehow doesn't.

I recently purchased a Matco 2s Series tool box in Storm Gray with all the bells and whistles. I fell it higher quality that a lot of the snap on boxes the other guys have in the shop. I do have some snap on tool tho, so I’m not super loyal to any brand.

I love Matco tools. But I own a 72” master series snap on triple bank . I believe the snap on is a more sturdy and better built box. Which is why it don’t have center caster wheels. Thats a beautiful box you have and something to be proud of. my snap on box has more Matco tools in it than snap on. I like all tool truck brands .. but my first choice in hand tools is Matco despite most of it is rebranded but quality rebrands. I’m in Charlotte NC and my Matco dealer Mark is a class act and goes out of his way to help me anyway he can. Snap on seems to act like he is doing me a favor selling me tools. The tool dealer makes all the difference in the world. As always great content clay 👍🏻

You are right the dealer is what makes the tools. I honestly have been super impressed with the quality of all the Matco tools I have. They rebrand stuff sure, but it’s like having the AllStar team at your disposal. Everything I’ve gotten from them I have been super pleased with and the quality is top notch. There’s not a better ratchet on the market in my opinion and they have so many exclusive to Matco only tools that all the clowns screaming buy it off amazon and save the money can finally shut up. I get so tired of hearing that. I’m proud to support Matco tools and my dealer. I think that’s part of the disappointment with this entire box deal. It’s hard to be satisfied when you truly have your heart set on something.

For that kind of money get exactly what you want or move on to the next. Special order bill would have a really hard time ordering a matco box. Nice box .

As someone who has had a matco 4s,5s and matco revel x, as well as a snap on master series and epiq, Snap-on has the best quality box. Hands down. No arguments. No complaints. No discussion. Just facts. The snap on epiq line is without a doubt the best box on the market.

Almost in the same boat, always wanted a 84” EPIQ with a hutch but I have 2 scanners on my credit so I didn’t have much breathing room with Snap-on credit. Ended up getting my Revel X (Pale Horse White with blue trim) 3 bank with a hutch for something like $13K. Love this box now but I still see these nice EPIQ boxes and wonder if I could’ve held off to get one of them. Box holds up great with all my tools (Class 8 diesel mechanic).

matco makes some decent budget tools but i like mac as well but i love my snap on boxes i think they are the best i wish we had better matco dealer in cheyenne

As a Matco box and cart owner myself I have to say the quality is top tier! It just feels better than my coworkers krl722. That being said where snappy is leaps and bounds better is in their hassle free warranty. Need slides. Need casters, hell your box spot welds start the crack, it’s all covered under their lifetime warranty. Same holds true for their KRSC carts. Same does not hold true for Matco, Jamestown carts have a 1 year warranty and slides are the only thing covered on their boxes. That being said though my dream box is still a 6331 6S as IMHO the revel series are glorified 5s boxes and the revelx a 5s with 6s 1800lbs casters. Max available depth is 28 while the 6s is available in 25, 28 and 31.

I've never cared for a hutch, I'm not paying thousands to lock up my pens, chargers, and a PC that isn't even mine. Even extreme montezuma and homakhave top boxes.

I would agree with that. However, I appreciate the hutch because you can store things like punches, screwdrivers, etc. without taking up precious drawer space. To each their own, it’s just worked well for me.

Personally i love the quality of the TOOLS from Matco but there boxes i dont really love the way they look and i look and thats why i went with the snap-on box

Yeah snap on is the brand i grew up using i had a matco box when i was little i just didnt love it and my mac box fell apart on me so i said forget it ill go snap-on and ive never looked back since

I can't even imagine the amount of $$$ you have tied up in boxes and tools. I have watched several of your Snap On Friday vids and have seen $1000+ coming off that truck each time, not to mention several Snap On boxes.

Maybe one day matco will have a top box for the revelx. I'm just patiently waiting for that day to come haha 😄. I still love my revelx, even with the ride I have been on since getting into the revelx 4 years ago haha....as I've told you about it haha.

I think Matco toolboxes r excellent quality. But I’m a fan of the 6S. I think the rebel designs are ugly but that is subjective and my opinion. Just like I like the snap on master series more than the epiq series. Especially since I’m a lock and roll guy

Clay, you Snappy box is fabulous and a tremendous blessing by any measure. I appreciate the explanation but am puzzled as to why the overall tone of your message seems so apologetic. It's not your or Michael's fault MATCO screwed the pooch on the 3 bay top cabinet. Enjoy your new Snappy and be grateful Wally isn't dribbling grease and dirt all over it. Be well good sir !

Only pro box I’ve owned is a 2 drawer Matco used cart I picked up for $225. I just got lucky and I’m picking up a brand new Cornwell 5 drawer cart for $650 after trade. Normally they are $1600+. He’s suppose to give me $350 for my cart when only paid $225. We’ll see how the final deal goes tomorrow but I’m excited to have my first new pro box. I just have to pick between blue or orange.

Matco doesn't have much selection for the revelx, I ended up getting a 6S double bay with a hutch which was free when you purchased the bottom...from what I hear the 6S is a bigger box but the revelx is alot nicer looking

I too desperately wanted to go with a matco box, I'd been looking at them for years and make a good calculated decision. Then snap on came out with the epiq and compared to any of the matco boxes, it is a far superior built box than any of those flimsy matco boxes on the market. Now I have the 84" epiq with 2 side lockers and a hutch with the upgrade paint instead of powder coat. I absolutely love the box. Honestly I've never had any good luck with any matco dealer I've ever ran across. I had an airwratchet that broke within the 1 year warranty and pretty much they said though shit, you're outa luck. So needless to say, what little matco tools I had all got traded for Snapon.

Matco DEFINITELY needs to be more responsive to updating their website and catalogs. I've already had people ask me if a 2016 catalog is the most up-to-date. Unfortunately, I had to say yes.

Yeah I research stuff online many times before I even mention anything to my dealer. Often to see if it is really what I want or to just find out more about it and also to get a general idea of what the ballpark cost will be. I know lots of guys that had rather read up on a product themselves instead of bothering the dealer so having an online presence is very important now with everyone having a smart phone.

@@KoonTruckingMatco knows that. I just hope that Matco see's this video and responds like they did with your blue ratchet video. They're a customer focused company. I think they'll do something...hopefully. It's just embarrassing to have customers ask you for your most recent catalog and tell them that a 2016 catalog is the most up to date.

Should have went with Mac boxes they are the best out of the three. I started with snap- on and once I seen the Mac box I traded all my snap- on boxes in. The main thing I hated about snap-on was the top 3 drawers where to skinny couldn’t even put wrench racks in them .....

You don't need to act like you are making excuses for buying the Snap-On, but maybe paying for it. I am not a professional, I just collect vintage Snap-On tool boxes so I have a different perspective. First off there is nothing wrong with Snap-On red and I recommend that color, then black. Getting a unique color makes it harder to upgrade and match, and white shows dirt. Mr. Koon was all excited about the looks of the Matco. Looks is last reason to use in selecting a tool box. I believe Snap-On is the preferred box for one reason - 100 years. In a changing world they are still around and will still sell me many repair parts for my 40 year old tool boxes, and reasonably cheap. And those boxes will probably last another 40 years. And while it doesn't matter, they are particularly attractive in their art deco way. Today's Snap-On boxes are much heavier duty than vintage ones. Seven years ago I bought a brand new KRL722 for $2k from a mechanic who won it in one of Snap-On's raffles. At the time its list price was $5400, now its $6945. That's ridiculous. But you really can't make a tool box better than the Master Series. What does Snap-On really charge professionals like Mr. Koon?

that kinda money you better get what you want . i love Matco , i have a Matco box myself but end of the day it has to be 100% what you want . Am surprised Matco could not make it happen but if thats what has happened its sad and a loss for Matco. Matco use to be the custom tool box head quaters but i guess no more

I think the demand for a top box has faded and everyone is on the hutch kick but it really doesn’t offer more storage than just the top of a bare box only you can lock it up. I just needed the space and most have even forgotten top boxes exist

I like Matco, but they need to catch up...I have a Snapon Cart and another tech had a Matco cart...customer put their car in drive instead of reverse, drove through the safety chains and hit both our carts and turned them over...I was able to open the drawers and get everything out of my cart and only had to replace some drawers and slides plus a few scratches (still got it today)...the other tech with the Matcol. ...his cart was a total loss...had to cut it open to get his tools out

The sad part about these tool boxes from the big 3 companies is you can buy a car for the same price as a tool box set up. This is why I stick with Home Depot Husky boxes. Mind you I am not a professional mechanic.

They are high for sure and I know it costs a lot of money to build the machines and set ups for them and also pay American wages and overheads and the shipping has got to be crazy on a 800 lb box but they are nice. I had a Kobalt box and I seen really quick with the amount of tools especially in diesel it couldn’t handle the weight.

I had a husky 66 inch box and after 3 years that thing was falling apart drawer slides shit wheel cracking rust welds coming undone drawers won’t lock got my snap on epic no issues years later

No sponsors at all. They aren’t stickers just magnets I will not put stickers on my boxes. In fact the GW is the only tool company that has magnets I guess ? That’s one reason they are there. Ford and Peterbilt are my bread and butter so that’s why they are there they are actual truck emblems with magnets on the back. Wally has been gone for a LONG time so the real question is where have you been to not know this?

My grandpa is still likes playing with his tools but his snap on boxes slides are so bad that he can barely open them now. He bought the box years ago and I was wanting to see if we could warranty the slides on it. If you had any information on how I could get that done for him I would greatly appreciate , Thank you!

You would need to contact snap on, you will also need to have the model number of the box and they should be able to help you out

Yes but at the time we didn’t have a Mac guy ....... even though I tried for over a year and a half to get him to come to the shop. Can you imagine the items I would have had in that length of time ?

Koon Trucking Same here! I’ve noticed a lot of rebranded specialty tools like coolant testers, harmonic pulley pullers etc are waaay cheaper on the Mac truck compared to Snap on. But just like you, we didn’t have a Mac guy until this past January so we all bought what was available

I had macro tools everything I've had was matco tools till we didn't have a dealer anymore about 10 years went by I found a dealer at the other end of town I asked him if he wouldn't mind coming out to my shop and help me add on to my toolbox that I had he told me it was out of his area and he couldn't help me.... I then traded my box off because I was so mad and bought me a snap on tool wagon

I hope you aren’t referring to toolboxes because there’s no way in hell I would spend that much on a harbor freight box ever! I can buy a snap on from my dealer for just a little more than the icon even after the sale price they offer now. In 2 years it still ain’t worth crap for resell at least snap on could fetch 50% back

I can order the top box to a RevelX and the RevelX box itself through the Matco app. Not sure what the problem was for others 8 months ago. 🤷🏽♂️

They are nice. I actually ordered an Extreme box before I got my first snap on box. 72” w hutch and stainless top. It came in on the truck damaged (like turned over on the face of the hutch damaged) i refused to sign the delivery ticket because you could see the dented metal through the gaping hole. They didn’t have any more blue in stock and I wasn’t willing to settle on another color so i called Hamilton and he delivered the first blue snap on box the next day. That’s how I ended up with my first 55” snap on

Although it is too late I am curious why didn't you want to go 6s? They offer a top chest and you can get it in a 28 inch deep OR 31 inches deep. The Revel X does look very nice but doesnt have a 31 inch deep option (which I personally think is silly) I am a Matco distributor and I personally had a similar thing where a customer wanted a Revel X but he wanted the work center that had drawers on both sides (only 6s has that) we ended up going 6s and he states hes glad he did because he went 31" deep he added a security drawer so he can put his laptop on it and he just leaves that drawer out 24/7 . Although you got your box it maybe something to consider in the future. I was a former Snap on distributor before Matco and personally think both brands are incredible boxes, I favor Matco due to the power being standard in them, however neither box will let you down.

I just liked the look of the Revel X. Honestly I wasn’t willing to settle for anything else. I already had that square looking box (master series) and I liked the shape of the revel. I just thought it was a good looking box. I was planning on getting it and had my heart set on it and once I started talking about it it made it even worse.

I have the Matco tool box extra riser with hutch love it. And I also have snap on tool boxes. The snap on tool box is far superior to Matco. sorry Michael. But the same weight in a drawer the snap on is like being on roller skates smooth. The Matco drawer kinda shifts from side to side. I am happy with my Matco box but does not compare to snap on. Once again sorry Michael. However I have put all my snap on ratchets in one drawer not to be used again. I love my Matco low profile ratchets. The only ratchet you will ever need or want.

Since there was no help from snap on to get a trim piece for the top box meeting the bottom box, the huge gap. Yes you can see it in the video. That was the change since then.

If im not mistaking your box is depper than the revel x ,my Matco guy tried his hardiest to sell me a box ,cause I was out of room on my 84 inch epic ,hmm why would I go with a matco box ,when I already have the Bentley of toolboxes ,so I just bought another 84 inch epic to make it a super Mr big ,I can send you a picture of them together on Instagram if you like
