Why I’d Build a PC Now (50% Price Drops)
I’ve been building and working with PCs for over a decade, and unfortunately a good number of those years have been dominated by obscenely high prices, but recently I was scrolling through various GPUs and CPUs while trying to help a friend build a PC and something I noticed is that PC prices are actually getting good again. In fact some parts are priced insanely good to the point where they may be offering the best value I’ve seen in years.
Now a lot of this I think has been kicked off by AMD as ever since they introduced Ryzen and more recently launched the RX 7800 XT they definitely seem to have pressured Intel and Nvidia to not only drop prices, but rush out new products as well.
So today I'm going to show you why building a PC now may be one of the best times to do so ever, and to prove it, let’s take a look at the best NEW CPU & GPU deals I found.

@@tadsnyder2756 haha, that's a fair point and I do agree with you, I've not owned a Nvidia card since the FX 5600 but I know a lot of people only want to use AMD to lower Nvidia prices. As with any company, you need to make a better product overall than your competition to even stand a chance of winning their customers. I personally like AMD cards, I think they have always offered better value but recently I have been needing more and more application acceleration/quality in things like Handbrake, Adobe Suite, Topaz, etc and I think AMD needs to catch up a little on this side of things.

Gotta spend $150 for a cooler for 13 and 14 gen. 12 is the last reasonable gen as far as efficiency is concerned but you could still save money on a cooler as you can easily cool a 7800x3d with a basic $50 cooler as well as saving money on ddr5 because you do NOT need fast ddr5 to get good performance on the x3d CPUs. On the 12th gen you will benefit from having fast ram up to 4000 cl18 or so. 4000ddr4 vs 6000ddr5 isn't that much more expensive like.. $60 vs $95 or something. Haven't checked in a while.

Dude...the PS5 and XSX are running on a garbo-tier super nerfed Ryzen 7 3700X , even if console optimization magic was still a thing (which really isnt these days...) you're still well beyond what you'll ever need for the rest of this gen if you have a Ryzen 5700X or i7 10700K , everything beyond that is just a luxury, how much of a luxury you want and can afford is the real question.

TIME IS MONEY, MY FRIEND !! If you’re going for the 5090 and feel you can beat the scalpers, wait. Otherwise… you might be waiting a year. Also kinda depends on whether you have a gpu already or no gpu at all (i.e. integrated graphics). Leaving a year plus of gaming on the table for a possible whiff of next gen gpus might be just a tad too long. Then there’s location. Where I am the prices are sticky and not so sensitive - the distributors import them and prices are kinda fixed in stone for the authorized resellers (I don’t know the distribution model but I’m assuming they bring it in at X price and sell it for X + Y so whatever existing stock keeps selling with X as a floor until stocks are sold out). If you’re in the U.S., ground zero, huge market where stocks move quick and there is no lag and prices fluctuate responsively to news of next gen products arriving, perhaps it’s worth waiting and keeping and eye on the dial. If you’re in a different market however, that waiting game might not be worth your time.

LGA1700 has you use a gimped GPU lane layout and then you add 1 NVMe and lose 4 lanes because that is how it is done. The layout is more borked than AMD and I have some things tro say there about their glorified usb controller as "chipset". Just pull out the 4 sata lanes, put them back in the IO Die, add some lanes, 3× NVMe right out of the cpu plus gpu all done.

Everyone is better off waiting for AMD to launch their CPU/Gpu's later this yr. Then you'll see the prices drop for the R7 7800x3d and the Rx 7900xtx. Pair those up with some G.Skillz 6000mhz 32gb 30CL and you're set for the next 5-8 yrs no problems. Unless ofc the AMD architecture is utterly mindblowing with over 60% gains across the board and power consumption at around 400 watts total then...

respectfully, I appreciate your perspective, and the deals you list makes lots of sense in a vacuum, but this is a generation improvement release year. in 6-8 months we're looking at releases of products that are expected to be 30-50% faster than the current generation while improving efficiency. combine that with the upcoming amd parts with actually GOOD igpus (that rival dgpus) and how much the current parts that are going to drop in prices as we approach the release of these new parts zen5/zen4+igpu, new intel parts, new high end dgpu parts from both amd and nvidia all happening this fall... this is quite possibly THE WORST time to build a pc.

I get your point, but it's the typical pc waiting jargon.. end of the day, build when it's right for you. The never ending argument of, wait next is better, then it's wait again, something else is coming up, may aswell wait again the gen after next is round the corner.. I just upgraded from 8700k 8th gen to 14700k and couldn't be happier. 1080ti to 4080super.. the jumps in performance are relative to each person. Unless you are someone who upgrades every gen, and needs the best at all times then yeah sure wait..

I'm buying the top zen 5 chip on release. I game, record, stream and multitask all the time and this is my hobby that I spend thousands of hours a year on. I'll get what I paid for and I'll get my money's worth out of it

Best time to build is right at the beginning of a product release IMO. I don't really think there's any such thing as a "good deal" for the most part - any deals that do come are likely to be for mid-tier and come quite a few months after the initial release.

The 7800X3D is now stock price thanks to the discounts :/ I hate the UK Edit: in the UK it has a 3% discount... Yeah building a pc here is more expensive and annoying

This is a terrible time to build. New cpus coming in 4 months or so, and new gpus in 8-12 months. Gpu market is pretty terrible rigit now

Keep in mind the prices for the components he's talking about. You're either waiting to pay the higher MSRP for the new CPUs or hoping for more of a price drop for the current CPUs. Considering the 5800X3D is only $50 cheaper than the 7800X3D, that's the likely floor for that part. It's really only a bit silly to consider buying Intel right now. You could get the cheapest AM5 CPU for your needs and wait until the future ones get cheaper and upgrade if it makes sense. You're mostly going to be GPU bound on anything that isn't at or above 4080 performance.

New cpu will be costly just like GPU so if one want to build a pc for current gaming can do so in 1000$ or wait to wanmste another 1000 for moderate games or upto 4k for extreme reasons
