There are a few reasons why your floorboard may be wet... In this video I'll go over every scenario including the heater core, an evaporator core drainage clog, and even a rusty floorboard or bad windshield seal.

if I bring my 1999 xj to you can you do a heater core and evaporator change? Im in NY but travel to PA often. cash on hand !

Another big one is where the air enters the cowl through that almost square box on the top passenger side. That foam is a gasket which mates with a riser that protrudes through into the cowl. That foam deteriorates and water that enters the drivers end of the cowl, and washes over to the passenger side, can drop down into that opening. Actually, it's probably getting sucked in if your blower fan is on. (I have to wonder if the blower motor getting water in it isn't part of the cause of my melting ignition harness accessory wires and blower switch plugs.) If you've ever seen little pieces of foam coming out of your vents, this "gasket" is one of the places it is coming from. There are a couple of decent fix videos here on KZfaq, where they cut into the cowl under the plastic cover on top and caulk around that riser. Seems to work. I'm going to do a THOR cowl induction and try to seal mine up through the hole I have to cut for the air filter. Good video.

I had clear water dripping from underneath the dash. I did as you suggested and stuck a screwdriver in the drain hose to clear it. Eureka!!! There had to be a half gallon of water come out. Your suggestion worked perfectly!Thank you for this video!

A lot of people uses an air hose to blow the lines out also. I've had to do it on a ladies 2014 camry, it kept soaking her passenger floorboard. Sprayer seemed to clear the lines out and it fixed her issues. I tried the coat hanger as well but couldn't get a real good angle with it under her car.

Not every scenario although I thought mine was windshield. Front floors are rusty with pin holes in it and a large hole I found when I pulled the carpet. So here in Florida it rains torrentially. I went out twice in the spring to two inches of standing water in the floor. Well finally took the hose and on the drivers side, let it run in the vent where the wipers are. Water started coming in and I was able to locate the issue. Some of the water was running inside the engine bay on the firewall and into the grommet where the hood latch is. RTV Silicone on the inside, let it cure for 10 min and plugged it back in, and on the outside a ring of silicone RTV around the hole and good to go... a 12 hour rain later and no more water... now fixing floorboard.

water will get into the cowl and drips through the fresh air blower area under the dash and puddle on your passenger floor

OUTstanding video! Great break down of the entire heating and cooling unit, with the take apart and demonstration. I just bought a '97 wrangler and the passenger side footwell was soppy wet this morning. My engine bay is plenty dirty and the water is clean, so not the heater core but likely blocked condensation opening. Great work. Thanks!

This is a really good video, covering a lot of different problems. I would get a puddle of water where the passenger in the backseat would put their feet, every time it would rain. Apparently it was coming through the vent that was under the passenger front seat.

this video just reminded me i need to fix one of my jeeps, we took off for fla in july, got about half way there and the passengers side floor started looking like lake erie, pulled over, couldnt find the hose anywhere, talk about a long hot ride through fla, georgia and sc in the midst of summer.
