Every team has a chance to make the playoffs every year, as evidenced by the fact that every team in MLS with the exception of Orlando and Cincy has made the playoffs at least once in the last five seasons. There are more teams who are competitive every year. If you’re a Palace or Everton fan, you know you’re never going to see your club play really important soccer, just mid table every year. The MLS system works better. I think you’re right, that there will eventually be an MLS2, but there just aren’t enough places that can financially sustain an MLS-level team. The USL is great, but I don’t see enough markets that could sustain a team from a financial and infrastructure perspective that don’t already have them on the way.

And why french clubs are not competitive in Europe and why they cannot retain their players to compete more with psg. The main reason is not a football one, it's not a level playing field between the leagues in terms of labour law and taxes. French clubs are in the eyes of the tax man private businesses and should pay the same taxes on wages as Louis Vuitton or Peugeot etc. In Spain clubs don't pay any or little taxes so players can earn more for the same amount of gross salary for the club. That's very attractive for players and explain why players leave Lille or Lyon to go to Brentford or championship teams. Barcelona was only paying 5000 euros a month of social charges on Messis salary. In France this would 1 euro for each 1 euro of net salary. The other reason is the french watchdog is tougher. French clubs cannot run big deficits and every year in June they need to show balanced books or get relegated down to amateur level (like le mans, Grenoble or Strasbourg in recent years). It's a matter of death or life so every year they need to sell their most liquid players to continue to survive another year. Only psg can provide additional revenues with marketing but even they need to show sales profit every year. Two years ago psg sold for 100m euros of academy players including nkunku Diaby etc. Today there are talks of buying them back at five ten times the price. One way for clubs to balance their books without selling players would be higher TV money. They brought a big deal with media pro that failed after three months and left a bigger hole in the club's finances and that's on top of covid and no money from match days. If you want to help the ligue grow watch it and stop saying negative things about it so that even from a sponsorship perspective more money is spent there. It has become a vicious circle.

History has shown us that leagues like the Dutch and Spanish are more technical than the Premier League. Total Football, Possession passing is of more importance in those leagues than the English game. This is not to say that it’s not important in the English game, I am highlighting how it’s of more value in certain leagues. That’s why those leagues tend to produce some of the most technically sound players to have ever played them game. Holland is a very good example of this. And this is especially evident when you look at how certain national teams go about their game. The premier league only began to embrace it with the arrival of coaches like Wenger. Who Sir Alex has credited for introducing that side of the game to the league. In fact in 2011 Sir Alex himself highlighted that English football needed an overhaul at grass root level in order to produce more technically sound players. yes it is stupid to call la liga a farmer league..at least there are teams that are competing for the title each year...not like in ligue 1 where for the past how many years psg have been winning the league, french cup and french league cup..then get knocked out before the quarters of the ucl...unlike barca madrid munich or juventus who always do well in ucl
