He just needs to get a moveset outside of his tag team moveset. He works his matches like a tag match. His offense is in short bursts and typically formulaic. That's the real issue. You're starting to see his matches become repetitive. Sell for a few minutes, back suplex, punches, suicide dive. Back to selling. Fire up, punches, Superkick, spear, splash. Back to selling. Superkick, Superkick, punches, corner Superkick, spear, splash. He just needs to improve his moveset. The crowd reaction and response has been there for over two years now. He has the chemistry and charisma whether you like Yeet or not.

I think this is coping a bit. He is just cringeworthy and even his look is not good for a main-eventer, I mean he doesn’t even have a 2 pack. He’s not good in the ring, that is what you are kind of saying when your talking about his moveset changing. He can’t be explosive/silky smooth like Styles/Bálor he just can’t wrestle like that. He should not be a singles competitor.

Moves like the Superkick and Spear used to be devastating finishers. When people like Jey Uso spam them like regular moves it ruins their credibility.

I'm glad I'm not too alone by not seeing Jey as a main eventer. he clearly gets a crowd reaction when he comes around, and that's proof that *something* is there, but apart from people Yeet'ing with him, I really don't see him doing much to shake the landscape at all. he always manages to get into an important match but never wins, which makes him look like fodder for the real main eventers AND tells me WWE doesn't really see him as a main eventer either, and like other comments pointed out, his moveset is just very repetitive, so he maybe could at least try a few new things, specially get a proper finisher (I mean, is it the Uso Splash, Superkick or Spear? everybody seems to kick out of them anyways)

It's not proof that there is "something there", he's an entrance merchant with a catchy song and catchphrase, that's it. It's Fandango & Adam Rose all over again with the difference being the guy at the top is pretending he's "over" like everyone else is and thus receives top of the card booking.

@@MJFisAnOverratedBagel I actually thought about it too, as in, his ENTRANCE and "yeet" are over, not HIM, but I think me seeing something other than an entrance and catchphrase is the optimist in me, even though I'm not big on Jey, but still, there's another part of me that completely agrees with you. WWE has already made him a jobber for the main event, making him lose when it matters the most, so the "Main Event" nickname as of now is just a technicality, which makes the whole "pretending he's over" seems accurate

Sorry to say but jey is midcard at best, yes he has the fans behind him but doesn't change the fact that evey match consists of 15 superkicks, 3 spears and 2 spashes...and I thought Goldbergs move list was small. Maybe once he gets a few runs with the ic or us titles it might change my mind but until then there's no main event for jey uso

I wonder what happened here because it felt like a match with so much build would have got more than 10 minutes but in hindsight it was a good call. Both Jimmy and jey are just better tag guys. It’s going to be OG bloodline vs bloodline 2.0 at some point, survivor series makes sense. Rock returns to cost OG bloodline and kick start his feud with Roman for mania 41.

To be honest, I agree with you on this one. Nothing against Jey, I just don’t see him as the guy, at least not yet. Who knows though, he might get up there (at least for me), but I just don’t see him there yet.

The fact remains, until he keeps getting the wildly over crowd reactions, he will remain on that spot. He’s not the best in the ring but he got over & still probably is to WWE fans

The biggest factor that comes in his way are his looks similar to his twin Jimmy and so is his in ring work. Jimmy vs Jey at WM 40 was a huge let down. They work exactly the same. If I had to watch 20 superkicks in a match I'd watch Wednesdays. Jey has a different personality but that ain't of a main-eventer. He can still be an upper-mid-carder or better yet as a tag team.

I decided to tune in for a full RAW for RAW 30 last year for the first time in forever since all the legends were advertised. I remember the Uso’s being in one of the first matches of the night, and I couldn’t believe how terrible everything was, from the match structure to how choreographed everything looked

It wasn't the matches it wasn't the reign. It's about the story and the struggle within the family. Look at it now it still is. C'mon pay attention to wrestling man. The only complaint I see that could make sense is his simple moveset I understand that debate. But charisma is a no go for me Yeet is every bit over as Yeah. I've said it before and I will say it again, without The Bloodline (specifically Roman Reigns), Seth Rollins, or Cody Rhodes Jey Uso is not a main eventer. I'll even give you proof, the night after the Royal Rumble he faced Bronson Reed 90 minutes after Raw started, meaning there was still another hour before the end of the show. If Jey Uso was a main eventer on his own that match would have taken place after 10:30.

@@sulwhale3171 see that's another thing, he's been a tag team wrestler since he debuted and that's okay but that's different than being in the main event in the singles division. He's a main eventer in tag team and six man matches only, he's not a singles main eventer and he's never been in that position without Cody Rhodes, Seth Rollins, or Roman Reigns. The only time he has been was against Gunther and his brother interfered.

He never had what it took. The bloodline stories helped push him upward but when he got his chance at WrestleMania it completely failed and what made it more obvious was being between every match on the card being so much better. This video points out everything wrong with Jey's push perfectly his move set is still only suited for a tag team wrestler, he is AWFUL on the microphone and when he was tagging with Jimmy they never got "USO PENITENTIARY" over no matter how many times they repeated it, the audience goes quieter for him faster than X-Pac and the roster is to good to fit him in the main event anymore. Honestly I think the usos both need to retire or work backstage because they're too old to reinvent themselves now.

The thing is his character work as main event jey uso never got fleshed out properly and the reason is that the builf up for his feud leading up to wm40 with jimmy came very late. If wwe actually just invested more time in this brother v brother feud i think we'll be looking at a very different jey, with more added layers to his caharacter.

I like Jey, think he's connection with the crowd IS main event level, but his moveset is really lame. The spear really don't suit him, it only served that one time he hit on Roman Reigns and the superkick spam don't even need any mention of how bad it is. What he needs is a proper feud that not involves the Bloodline or just a single titleshot.

I can agree that Joey is not a main eventer (at least at this point in time), but “main event “ is simply just a moniker that WWE decided to go with for him. I mean they use the name more in a figure speech manner than anything, similar to calling Becky Lynch “The Man”. Jey has had his moments and I believe in his single push, but at best I could see him as a transitional world champion than anything else.

I don’t know, the match last night in Backlash he was super super over. I’ve never heard the crowd like that when he came out. Granted it was in France and not the US but it was a solid match. Yes his WM match really did suck but last nights match was a solid effort. He’s super over right now we can’t deny that, his over reliance on using super kicks is very boring however I mean does he not have anything else in his move set? Maybe bust out a suplex every now and again, going through match after match using super kicks all the time it’s very lame, his move set really needs work

I believe with the nee formation of the new bloodline. It is going to take a long time before we see jey as a main eventer. He has prove proven himself as a all time great tag partner. After sammy drops the ic title or is traded to smackdown, jey will be become a IC or US champion before his world title run comes in tbe picture. Don't give up on Jey.

We gotta let go of this mindset that just because you’re objective to something doesn’t mean you’re hating. Jey isn’t a main event draw and that’s not to say that he never will be but from what we’ve seen since he started his single run, it’s not where it needs to be for him to be put in the situations he’s put into. Jey is more of an intercontinental/United states champion type of wrestler, currently. I believe that since he’s an extension of the blood line they’re saving him for a climatic finish to the bloodline story. He’s still relevant in that regard but if we’re judging by in-ring performances, his entrances are better than his matches. Popularity doesn’t equate to talent.

I like Jey and had a great match with priest but it feels like Jey lost so much momentum once he moved to raw. Aside from a brief run as tag champs with Cody he never really recovered from Summerslam. Mania didn’t help matters in a nothing match with his brother that felt like a raw match. Jey and Jimmy I think will reunite by Wrestlemania next year. Just so far better as a duo. Jimmy feels totally lost with Jey and Jey is just a better tag team guy and that’s ok. Nothing wrong with taking a step back if it worked previously. Hell just to change it up they could even have Sammy and Jey be tag champs, I think they would make a fun duo and they always had off the charts charisma together.

I'm glad you made this video about Jay. Both Uso's are a average tag team. Jay had the all the momentum to get him to the top and he failed. That match at WM with his brother was weak and I was pissed at first that it was 11 minutes but when it was all done I'm glad it was filler match.

I believe in Jey. Also, I think people are making too much out of his disappointment with the WM40 match. They were disappointed, it wasn't a bad match. It was fun and acceptable. It did feel a little rushed, and turns out it was. They handled their business and left us "wanting more". Also, notice how often he OPENS shows. Rather than suggesting he's a "curtain jerker" it actually shows they trust him to SET THE TONE for the live show. Notice how often they open major PPVs with the co-main event. They clearly see main event potential in him, they even made it his gimmick.

i love the energy when he comes in the ring. i really. yeet uso can also spit on the mic but i watched backlash and um.. i dunno. is damian priest always this slow? the entire match was....not boring, but lethargic. i would expect this sort of pacing with bork lesnar and modern day goldberg. not somebody who appears to be around my age. oh god he's younger than me. this is just sad. should he never be a main eventer? i think he still has a spot. but not as challenger for the top belt. IC, US title. maybe. filler saga match. def.

I agree with your sentiment. I recently visited a houseshow and Jey was totally over but he is not original neither is he a legit main eventer. I think he appeals to the younger crowd who are really into influencers because thats what he aims for. His looks are overly flashy and his catchphrase is basically an internet Meme. To me, he comes over as a poor mans The Rock. His promos suck and have influencer/tiktok vibes. No coherency, no fluent speech just spurting loud words/insults and yeet. But thats just my opinion.

I agree. I was skeptical of Jey being a Main Eventer already, but the match vs Jimmy at Mania being the worst of the entire weekend just put the nail in the coffin for him as a Main Eventer how do you have no chemistry in the ring with your own brother? I wouldn't even say Jey is Upper Midcard, just solid Midcard and that's ok. Not everyone can or should be a Main Eventer, you need your midcarders, tag teams, and jobbers, etc. It's as the old saying goes, when everyone's on top, no one is. Also I don't ever wanna see another Usos's > Bucks take ever again. People give the bucks crap, but the Bucks are 10x the wrestlers the Uso's are, and while they over use the Superkick too, at least they do it when the match is at high point, and at least they made a gimmick out of it with Superkick Party..

Definitely not. It’s just fans that watch WWE that don’t actually know anything about Professional Wrestling can’t cope with the fact he’s actually bad. I just don’t see how Jey Uso could have another main event feud unless he’s not the main focus and it’s bloodline related.
