Fucking rights! Wreck that gum girl!! I'm on day 3 or four I cant remember. I have stopped about 3 times now since I was 18 for 4-6 months but seem to fire back up for about the same duration. For me it is a particular friend who I just truly enjoy smoking darts with that gets me going again. The second time I stopped was the damned worst. Barn reno, working at heights (I hate heights) and full on Ukranian immigrants with nothing but the basic english HA! Still makes me chuckle. What set me off then was the cats around the farm. Their fucking legs just seemed inappropriately long for how slender and low their tummy was to the ground. Pissed me off I say!! I am having fun with this withdraw though. Taking time to just really study myself in it. Pointers for cold turkey beginners: Take a nice solid week of building a "quit wall" in your head before you start. Build it high and dense. I cant really describe it its just made out of pride and determination. I found that helped for me. Now I am not dealing with the mental side of the addiction I could have a lighter in one hand and a dart in my mouth and not even care to light it. Just the physical withdraw. Super tired all of a sudden but cant sleep. Focus is out to lunch. Cats are chill this go round though. Seen one going laying on the neighbors grass ... WAIT ... he was just flat on the grass his legs are probably inappropriately long too. That fucker.

I think withdrawal severity depends on how hard you were a smoker. I used to smoke 2-3 packs a day. When I quit, I literally lived in a hell for about 3 months. Thank God those days have passed, and I've been smoke-free for almost 3 years now. Edit: As of May 2023, I'm 5 years free from smoking now.

i quit smoking cold turkey 3 years ago after many attempts. What worked for me fighting the withdrawals was just a change of mindset. I kept on telling myself "i've been through so much sh!t in my life, withdrawal is nothing"... yeah that helped a lot. Instead of being afraid of the withdrawal symptoms like in previous attempts, this time I challenged them. When the withdrawal symptoms attacked, I remember I would challenge them like "bring it on, is that all?"... Surprisingly enough, I had minimum to none symptoms after the 3rd day..... on previous failed attempts they lasted longer than a week, something I cannot explain - maybe because a lot of the symptoms could also be in the mind.. Another thing that I believe it had helped was to consider myself an ex-smoker from day 1 and that made me extremely happy and I kept on going... Some people might find this a bad idea and I understand, but what I also did, I did not clean my ashtray, I did not throw away my cigarretes, and I kept on hanging with smokers. They were right in front of me on purpose.. this way I found easier to challenge myself. I would see the dirty ash on the ashtray thinking that all this was going inside me.. I kept my cigarettes to challenge myself...and I hang with smokers because I just knew "they want to be in my shoes, as ex smokers" - so I never got jealous, they were. I did not avoid my triggers, I challenged them! Today, looking back at the time when I was a smoker, I just don't get the point why I smoked...it was so stupid and a waste of money and health.., simple as that. oh yeah, and one more thing (sorry for the long post), my worst withdrawal challenge was when I was thinking "what would I do without a cigarette? how would I spend my life from now on?" -simple answer, thinking of it as of today...... -> "nothing would change, you'll do the same things as you did before. remember when you were a non-smoker? keep that thought, how was life back then? did you miss out anything? no - but certainly you did miss a lot after you started smoking" I hope I helped someone with this.. take care

Bingo! Thank you for sharing your experience Andy! How we experience the withdrawal depends on 1) overall health 2) our mindset 3) our nutrition. So it's no surprise you had an easy withdrawal once you changed your mindset about it. Congratulations on your success🙏🎉👍

Not very easy too do when you have been smoking 2 plus packs a day for almost 20 years. I've been at almost 2 and a half packs a day for 10 years. I dread going to sleep because I spend about 2 hours coughing mucus up before I can fall asleep , and about an hour after I wake up coughing up mucus. I'm quitting cold turkey tonight because I am tired of this. This addiction is hell for me.

Try mucuna puriens - it's an herbal dopamine precursor. Also the amino acid L-tyrosine is a dopamine precursor. You can also try adaptogens like ashwagandha. But remember when trying new herbs and/or supplements always start with an extremely low dose to make sure you won't have a bad reaction - the saying is go low and slow.

I’ve “quit” multiple times, longest I’ve been off is 3-4 months at once. The #1 reason I have fallen back in is due to alcohol, and being around people who smoke while drinking (I would end up bumming a cig). I believe that one must reduce or avoid socially consuming alcohol to succeed with nicotine secession in the early phase (at least the first 5 months). Stopped at the vape shop the other day, but just sat in my car questioning whether I really needed nicotine at all. Decided I didn’t, and drove off. At first, I went ahead and bought patches and things were going well, but then went to the bar and ended up buying a pack of cigs. Smoked the pack then went cold turkey, currently on day 4 without nicotine. Interesting how nicotine has invaded my entire life, even in my daydreams of the future. In my dreams, I see myself smoking while doing what I love. It is like the chemical is an old friend; but, it is not my friend. One must take note of thoughts influenced by addiction, and not act upon them. I am confident I will make it out of this addiction, I just have to avoid the triggers.

As uncommon as it is to hear this advice... Knowing what to expect will help you quit. Deep breathing and meditation is another great tactic. On top of this, Jesus Christ died on the cross and was resurrected on the third day to open access to the living God. And above all therapy and power, His love is power to get through the hardest of temptation :)

Been addicted to Nicotine for 5-7 years now. I hit my breaking point this morning when I told myself that I wouldn’t buy any more Juul pods, only to find myself 5 minutes later making a U-Turn that felt completely out of my conscious control to drive to the gas station. I’m not sure if I’ll be quitting today, but this did open my eyes to the fact that it needs to happen.

Bro same, at least when I was smoking cigs, it was once a day-usually after work at night. Since the introduction of Juuls, it made it easier to get a buzz anytime/anyplace. The only positive was it didn’t leave a smell. Literally quit cigs only to now being unable to go 30min without hitting the Juul. It’s caused me to become addicted and regret ever buying them in the first place. At least with cigs I could quit anytime and go days without smoking, but this? This is a nightmare cycle

Just got over a really bad craving, then I went to the store and a guy was smoking in his car. I got nervous because I just knew smelling the smoke was going to trigger another craving (especially since I just got over one 5 minutes before.) I feel proud of myself because overcame 2 cravings back to back. I quit on January 1st 2021, and it's the 14th. So far I only smoked part of a black & mild (I gave my friend the rest) and that's it, nothing else. I feel better, I can breath more easier. *Edit* the same night I wrote this, I bought a pack of cigs and smoked some 😣 sorry guys. I'm not giving up, I'll do better next time.

Keep going people. After about day 5 it got easier and easier, the worst symptom for me was extreme hunger at night but my mindset was “this is working” and I turned it around on itself and it made it feel rewarding. Deal with it and grit it out, I felt so much less agitated and much calmer afterwards, it’s like my system just went BZZZZOOOOOWWWWW and levelled out, great feeling. Gym was better, nicotine will halt your gainz, blood sugar lowered, probably blood pressure too, anxiety got better. By the way I was addicted to nicotine lozenges and vaping NOT cigarettes, so it doesn’t have to be cigarettes you’re coming off, any nicotine product you are addicted too. Nicotine is not good for you, people may claim it and say “it’s not the nicotine in cigarettes that’s bad”.....nicotine is not the worst thing in cigarettes however I’ve done lots of reading on it and it’s not good in isolation

Don't fall for the negative press that vaping gets. It worked for me. I vaped for about 8 months while gradually weaning myself off the nicotine, and then I went an additional 4 months vaping with no nicotine. Then I just got to the point where I was finding myself not vaping anymore, and it wasn't because I was purposely avoiding it, I was just forgetting to vape all together. Then one day at around the 12.5 months mark I just told myself that I was done, and I was finally ready for that commitment. I smoked for 33 years, and it's been more than 1.5 years since my last cigarette. I am a very old fashioned person who had a hard time switching to a vapor cigarette but I'm glad I did. I have no regrets and I suffered ZERO withdrawal symptoms. Good luck!

Ive being smoking since I was 16 im now 33, I quited cold turkey 2 times. First time was for 1 year second time was for 1.5 years. Today Im starting my third attempt hope for ever. Wish me good luck. I can say it was not that difficult. Is basically mental. When we get withdrawal symptoms you need to acknowledge the feeling, embrace it, not resist it and actually feel good about that feeling. The other thing is being mindful about your smoking routine. Just remember when you routinely smoke through the day. One other thing that I experienced was the withdrawal symptoms were coming: 4th day steong then after 1 week strong then after 1 month then after 3 months and so on. And the most important think to remember is why you quitting and maybe develop a hatred about smoking in general in order to quit for good. Let me know on your experience.

I haven't smoked for two days. Nicotine withdrawal is an unpleasant thing, but you have to get through it. I told myself: "I'm human, I can control my thoughts and desires. I once smoked to calm down/relax/get pleasure. Now I'm addicted and I want to get rid of it." Part of my mind is telling me to smoke, but that's because my brain is trying to avoid the discomfort of withdrawal. This is not my thought or my desire, this is a protective reaction of my body/brain. Good luck to everyone, believe in yourself and your capabilities.
