This is why Legends is so much better than anything Disney could ever make. In Legends, Sidious is actually smart enough to realise that Mandalorians don't play games with their enemies, they just kill them. Thus, attempting to annihilate an entire planet of nomadic warriors is both counterproductive and impossible, as he'd never get them all, and even just one living Mandalorian can rebuild the entire civilisation. Furthermore, the Mandos almost never fought real civil wars between themselves, just minor squabbles between clans that never erupted into full scale wars (unless you count everyone else hating on the Death Watch). And no one on Mandalore ever cared to fight about whom was Mandalore, not since Canderous Ordo killed his ex-wife to get the Helm of Mandalore and become Mandalore the Preserver. Mandos are far too independant to care if they have a Mandalore or not, and the only reason Fenn Shysa put forth a clone of Jango (I forget his name) to play Mandalore was to provide a single person to deal with the Empire and provide a semblance of Mandalorian submission to the Empire.

Even against the likes of Death, Dark Shadow an Royal Guard troopers hell even Dark Jedi/Assassins these guys kick ALL the ass. Had THESE guys as a whole of survivors decided to join for any reason, an just to give Sideous the Middle Finger woulda been enough after their attempted Genocide.. Can see even without the events of the Original Trilogy perhaps the Rebels actually WIN. Places like Hoth wouldn't really be an losing battle if a contingent or even a small army elected to blindside the Empire there. I think by the end, the Mandalorian will actually have been about Grogu's rise to become the new Mandalor. I think they're setting up for him to be the next Tor Vizla. Though I admit that it could just be what I'm hoping for.

Mando's will never die off. They have been destroyed before and survived. This is due to being a Mando is a code/creed not a people of one race. Corasant is the original home of the Mando's not the current mining planet they call home. Scattered yes but never defeated. To me Mando's are greater than any Jedi or Sith due to just how great they really are. Love the new interesting star wars direction telling the Mando story.
