Oooh common Brad... 126mg of magnesium taurate.... that's like you say 1g.... yes.... 1g per bottle.... to any effect from taurine you seem to need about 3g per intake.... Let's do the math.... 126mg of your magnesium taurate is about 90% taurine... which means it would be about 70mg.... Which is around 0.070g.... which would have no effect at all...

I had selenium toxicity and it helped me while I was recovering. Hair loss is a sign of selenium toxicity, Im assuming you may be eating a lot of eggs and or liver? wavey fingernails is another sign fyi. From what I gathered with AI, the body can't easily regulate how much selenium it absorbs like it can with calcium nd other minerals. It absorbs it all, and relies on detox pathways to maintain homeostasis. Taurine being a sulfur based amino acid may help compete with selenium

For what it's worth at 72 I have been taking taurine (about 2/3 of a tsp) every day for a little over a year. Here's a quote from an Nih study that relates to my experience: Taurine (2‐aminoethanesulfonic acid) is a non‐essential amino acid, mostly consumed with the diet. 18 It is highly present in the eyes, but its physiological role is still uncertain. 19 Although its role in the retina is unclear, numerous events have been attributed to taurine, involving osmoregulation, antioxidant defense, stress responses, and protein stabilization. 20 Taurine deficiency leads to photoreceptor degeneration but also to RGC loss. Cone photoreceptors and RGCs appear as the most sensitive cells to taurine deficiency. 21 In the year taking taurine my vision has improved to an incredible degree. In the past there was no way I could type this comment without 2x reading glasses, but I'm doing it with easy clarity now without them. It's quite an improvement. All my vision has brightened notably. When I started taking the supplement I had no expectations of improving my eyesight, but over the last couple of months the improvement was impossible to miss. It still seems to be improving too. Sharper and sharper on ever decreasing font sizes. Remarkable.

The waitress handed me a pen with the bill and I could see that there was lettering on the slim clip that held the pen in her apron. A very small font but I could clearly see 007-HOC. I’m not sure if feeling better is a good indicator. It’s possible that living a long life feels no different than feeling normal. If one feel pain or stress or some other negative symptom, it might be related to other issues. If one remains healthy, not sure one would feel any different than someone who has no negative and noticeable indicators. Unfortunately people stop because they don’t “feel” anything. Which is not necessarily a good indicator.
@ntwalipat2

@@gh4534 Indeed, when it comes to supplements, we often evaluate their effectiveness based on how they make us feel. Improved energy, stamina, vitality, and mood are some of the factors we consider, along with the potential placebo effect. It is also possible that our bodies already produce sufficient amounts of Taurine, rendering high doses unnecessary. Although I personally couldn't determine any effects from the last bottle I tried, the studies on Taurine are quite compelling.

Magnesium is so crucially important for so many bodily functions, and it really stands out when it comes to pairing it with creatine or taurine. Both creatine and taurine are cell volumizers, which means that they retain water in the cells, which is a good thing for body health and athleticism. Magnesium helps by driving this process and works as a natural anti-diaretic. So the synergism between Magnesium and Taurine or Creatine is absolutely phenomenal.

Since the presenter stated that he takes Taurine supplements, would he be willing to give us before and after blood culture and other factors of before and after taking these supplements? I've noticed that there seems to be at least a twenty percent (80/20 Rule) chance that any positive benefits can be attributed to a kind of placebo effect. This is why substantiated data is crucial.

Hello Dr. would you consider reading and reacting to some of the Ray Peat health trends. It is becoming a major mainstream health fad that promises the world. Some of the big topics he covers are the need to take aspirin, the need to avoid PUFAS due to oxidation, supplements with progesterone etc. I have never heard someone as educated as you address his health principles. Thank you.

In randomized controlled outcome studies if the replacement for saturated fats isn't specified in the study then there was no difference in heart disease metrics (because people likely replaced the saturated fats with processed foods containing saturated or trans fats). All the pro saturated fat youtubers and docs latch onto these studies to confirm their bias. But if PUFAs (polyunsaturated fats) were specified as the replacement then heart disease difference was obvious. Saturated fats caused heart disease vs polyunsaturated fats which have a protective effect. So ya I would bet my life that any studies showing saturated fats had no effect on heart disease rates that the replacement for those fats were not specified. I can take a pack a day smoker and add 5 more cigarettes to his daily habit and show no extra mortality from smoking them. Does that mean smoking is safe and doesn't cause health problems? No, if you take someone that doesn't smoke and have them smoke 5 cigs a day then it would definitely show an effect. I hope you can understand the logic here and why studies showing saturated fats to be harmless are flawed studies.

Obviously Taurine needs other cofactors: adequate vitamins, minerals hormone levels to exert its beneficial effects. Like Vit d needs Vit K2, Mg, Zn, Boron, exercise to exert its full multifactorial effects on bone, inflammation, immune defence, cancer prevention, CNS, mental, hormonal etc etc as Vit D modifies ~ 200 genes also
@Derek-eh7ys
@Derek-eh7ys Ай бұрын
I doubt if "taurine needs other cofactors", you can read about transsulfuration pathway and find that taurine is one of the product. (i.e. if you supplement taurine, you can produce more GSH or NOS during "conditional events", which might explain the reason why taurine extends lifespan. And taurine is a better nutrient than NAC in this sense since taurine is better absorbed.

While Taurine has been shown to inhibit cancer growth in some studies, it may also have stimulatory effects in other contexts. The Taurine in energy drinks has been proposed as one factor in the dramatic increase in colon cancer among young adults. Researchers presenting at the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) annual meeting in Chicago in early June 2024 believe Taurine feeds and promotes the growth of harmful gut bacteria linked to colon cancer.

I have been wondering about how to increase bile salt production as doesn't it neutralise the ph in the gut as well as emulsify fats. I wondered if the body loses the ability to produce as much bile salts as you get older and you have more systemic inflammation as a consequence. I don't know if this would affect protein absorbtion in anyway if you have an inflamed gut

A comment, some men do not tolerate taurine well. I bought an electrolyte drink for my husband and me. He became very ill from drinking it while I was fine. We didn’t attribute it to the taurine until using the same brand 3 times. We studied the ingredients and realized taurine wasn’t in our usual brand. I googled taurine and many women complained of their husbands feeling very sick and weak after consuming taurine. Please warn of that because men should be aware just in case they have the same effect from the taurine.

I hate the way you and many others will hype a supplement and not say what the clinically effective dose is. Often times to have any chance of experiencing the purported benefits a person would have to take an unrealistically high daily dose. For example in the mouse study I think I saw they used 1 gram per kilogram of body weight which for a 185 pound man would be 84 grams per day of Taurine. You push your magnesium/Taurine supplement but does it provide the clinically effective dose?
