There's definitely something to the idea of having thoughts that may not be your own. Anyone interested in that topic should look into Jerry Marzinksy's work. He's a retired psychotherapist who actually listened to the "voices" in the heads of schizophrenics for over 35 years, and he found that they are absolutely NOT mere hallucinations. These "voices" all seem to have the same agenda: to utterly break the person they're communicating with by any means they can, which usually manifests as impersonating one's thoughts so as to be indistinguishable from one's own and saying nasty, horrible things to make the person feel like they're this monster of a human being when in actuality they aren't. And the scary thing is that these aren't just limited to schizophrenics, they're just extreme cases. We ALL have them, to varying degrees. I know I struggle with them all the time. These "voices" really do behave like classical demons, which has to make one wonder... are they demons?

Also, to put the simbol within a modern, scientific frame, the snake is a creature (former lizard) who lost his legs (which elevate and mobilise or free the body) and went down or fell back on the ground (became one, in full body contact with it: "you shall eat (be like, be one with) the dirt"), on a lower level of existence, material, earthly, (going) in the opposite direction of God, the direction towards which all the rest of creation tends to. And that's why we are "the children of the serpent/devil", because of our inclination towards sin, vices, bodily passions, earthly life and rebellion against God and holiness. Because of our fallen nature. And Christ came to reverse that by taking the place of the sinner on the cross (prefigured by Moses' bronze serpent hanged on a stake, to save the people bitten by snakes), by changing our nature, our life, our direction and by showing and giving us a holy model to follow. The snake is also a symbol of the bodily passion and appetite, through the way he eats his prey: the image of a snake swallowing an whole animal, even larger than his own head, mouth and body (so that the jaws and the stomach are stretched at maximum) it's one of the most horrendous and grotesque in nature.

It's like when you ask for a manager at a store and then some guy comes up who says he is a manager but isn't really a manager, it's the fuzzy shroud of corporate beaurocracy that acts as an anesthesia and a numbing confusion that makes you forget what you where going to ask in the first place or so mad you give up

Why the original sin is interpreted as rebellion?

Would love to hear more expounded upon of the rejection of these “false” or “antichrist” thoughts from the deceiver as a mean toward holiness. I may have read too much into the statement, but in my own life when paying careful attention to my own thoughts, when I reject out right what I know to be antithetical to Scripture and choose instead to believe to God’s Word no matter how I feel about it or understand it, I’ve seen growth and a form of supernatural strength against these negative/deceptive/grotesque thoughts.

Once, around 15 years ago, on a whim I went out and had an enormous dragon tattooed in the centre of my chest. I don’t know why.

One distinction which I’ve come across was between two sort of opposing forces: Satan aka. -- ( a name I probably best left unsaid) -- and Lucifer. One is a rather conservative figure and sticks to traditional life, the other - one of incessant and unceasing change. Although essential for the ability to even think about discerning between the two, the intimate differences are too subtle and nuanced to lay out here (assuming I was even capable, which is unlikely). However, I’ll pass along a little of the already infinitesimally small bits of information I am aware of. The first of these demands order and structure - to the point of absolute tyranny in order to again and preserve it. The latter, ‘change’ and ‘progress’ to the point of sadism or hatred as key virtues if they are the only and last perceived ‘original’ options available. The problem is that both devils/demons/dragons/etc. are needed for wholeness, but they must be subjugated or bow to the Holy One.before they can die and be transformed into an instrument of TRUTH.

So how can the snake simultaneously be a sign of healing and a sign of lying? Was Moses not the great hero and truly a deceiver, which would explain why he carried the snake staff?

Perhaps you can ask Fr Damick why he believes there are three natures in the Trinity. Because that is a twisted notion he never rectified.
