Just got mine after waiting 3 months for it, in 42 years of riding pretty much everyday & having owned or ridden just about everything I can say this bike is so much fun I haven't had a bike that makes me smile like this one. As for people who say about the looks well I say 'I don't look at it I ride it' the quick shifter is brilliant the handling for me is spot on, totally fantastic bike for the money.

by the looks of the engine side on, its looks seem derived from a bored out and slightly stroked CBR 600 block, so really its a super hornet ala Roadrash-escue 6/75 (verses RR's 7/11 (GSX-R 750/1100) - and since the old/original Hornet itself wasn't big.. BUT being a Twin, essentially half a Blackbird engine if it were to have been engine designed by HRC, ...but more likely, engineeringly, just half an oversised VFR merged with NVT/XRV in the lines of the modern small to mid size parallel twin, hopefully utilising aspects of Honda's higher performing CBR's (inc' CBR 600, 900, 954, 1000, & CB500, CBR-F) - yeah sorry that's a broad spread of influences to be distilled within a design.. but ...Honda/HRC/Mugen.

imo the Trident is the best looking in the category, this bike is the 2nd best looking. They blended the shapes together nicely, and there are some smart and subtle color accents on this Honda. Saw this bike at the NEC show this week. It looks good overall, I’d say the front Hornet head light looks a bit naff and lets down the bikes otherwise good looks. But apart from that it’s a strong offering from Honda and an amazing price. The yellow one looks really good in person, I wonder if it’s also because the chassis is blacked out and looks better that way, (I don’t like the design or particular shade of cheap nail polish red chassis). It must be noted that the quick shifter doesn’t come as standard, but there is a healthy number of accessories for this bike. In places it shows that it was built to a bit of a budget compared to, say, the new. Suzuki GSX 8S. I can’t wait for you to do a side by side comparison of those two…the proof is ultimately in the pudding.

Listening to online reviewers and KZfaqrs, one would think that motorcycles that don't come with ride modes, quick shifters and adjustable everything are somehow lesser bikes, but speaking with friends who ride, most don't care for all the features that are being added to motorcycles (nor use them if they have them) and would happily lose most of them for a lower price. The Suzuki SV650 is not popular despite its age and lack of tech, it's popular BECAUSE of these things. It's the accessible price and the lack of overbearing, over complicated tech, that motivates many to get it, and while the Hornet is decently priced in comparison to most of Honda's other (arguably overpriced) bikes, the new bikes coming out this spring in the naked 700cc category might suffer in sales from their significant cost increases. (And yes, I am aware that things cost money and stuff is not free) ;)

Looks a great bike. Finally Honda realised they needed a twin cylinder for this category, not a detuned 4 cylinder without enough low down go. 90 bhp should be the sweet spot and USD forks, which means Yamaha will have to up their game now. Great package.

There's already rebel 1100, i don't think they'll make a 750 rebel anytime soon since this new 750 engine almost had the same power with the 1100

Wonder if this is actually a better bike than the xj6n, or do I need to go mt09 🤔

Are these modern bikes more like cars in that they just work? Or do you need tools, a garage and the know how to keep them running smooth, and starting up.

This is a LOT of bike for the money and doesn't look too bad in the yellow or black colour schemes. If and when they come out with the adventure styled model with the same killer engine - that would work for me

Such a relief that Honda didn't go with the super moto stance that you advocate in your vlog. I found the seating position totally natural and comfortable. It's like a comparison between the MT 09 and XSR 900. The latter being a far more comfortable ride either pootling around or going very fast.

Job-caused i have a Tuono 660 & a TigerSport 660 & a 21 year-old SV650N in the garage. This Hornet has the vibe of the old 650 naked but with the modern electronics of the Tuono. It's a MT 07 killer & gently kicking the 'new' Katy 790 Duke's shins. Moneywise: it's a hit already. Lookswise- 'H!?! You can do better!!'

I think this would make a great sport touring bike. Hard bags always does better than soft luggage. The bit of tank cowling looks unnecessary and a bit goofy.

Looking for something a bit less agressive than my 05 CBR600rr. All the new tech looks great. Power looks decent and riding position looks ace. I just don't understand why Honda haven't chucked cruise control on it.

Robert; would you buy one over the Trident? For me if Triumph put better suspension and a quick shifter as standard and it cost 8k for the Trident, there would be no competition.

Honestly I’d have to ride them back to back to be sure. It really is a good engine! Very entertaining. But the trident looks and handles better, and a triple is always fun. Very close run thing…

Aren't the power/engine breaking/TC settings the exact opposite of the one's on the Africa Twin? For example Power setting 1 here is the most gentle power setting but on the AT it's the higher setting? This bike is set up the way it should be, I find my AT setup very counter intuitive.

Just got my Hornet and all Bob says it is. One criticism if the bike is weather and road protection. I don't mean for the rider but the bike! The front mudguard is a joke, it throws dirt and water all up the front, to the extent the bottom triple clamp get dirty. The rear is even worse. No protection at if you take passenger in the rain or even slightly wet roads, the back of them will be wet and dirty. So fender extender and hugger are needed (got mine on order now) Great review and totally agree with it all
