I just don't want to see a Jamaican owned by other people. Jamaica is for Jamaicans and I think we should ensure we own it. Jamaica has taken the best approach if you ask me. They have taken the approach of encouraging its citizen to be healthy. I see where leaders put in regulations to limit the amount of sugar consumption , promote exercise and proper dieting. Most people who do complain are those that leave Jamaica without proper financial planning, go overseas and spend their life and resources over there and then come back fo Jamaica and go in the worst communities and then complain about the conditions. Sorry to say but its the truth. There are many upscale communities in Jamaica. Why pass all those and go to areas that will make you vulnerable. If you leave with a plan and stick to it knowing that, hey if I want to live in a good communitiy then I have to put away at least 70million and the land will cost at least 30million then am sure that's better than returning and looking for land for 2million and trying to build for 10 million. Or asking contractors and consultants to cut cost expect the most and have high expectations. The reality is that the rich live a different lifestyle than the poor. @@AJAWI_TV Jamaicans say, and I agree with them. They should have access to their beaches. Instead of the government selling it off to big named hotels or big companies. If the beaches are dirty the government should employ people to keep it clean . There's enough unemployment in Jamaica as it is. And if the people are dirty in it tell the people that it will not be tolerated! That's why when people leave they do not want to comeback. Because they get no support from their own government. They put other people and companies before their own people. And that sort of rubbish happens in to many black countries around the Caribbean and Africa

@freddiedouper so are you saying all the beaches abroad are owned and taken care of by the government? I'm sure there are beaches in the US that are privately owned and those that are government owned. Let's be honest with ourselves if we were to do what you're sayin, there would be no public-private partnerships and the overall economy would suffer. Would you then give the government permission to raise taxes to cover these additional overheads?
@freddiedouper
@freddiedouper 5 ай бұрын
@@AJAWI_TV government's do not need no prompting from anyone to raise taxes. And it always seems like the poorer the nation the more the taxes go up. There have been many disgruntled Jamaicans on the news youtube and in the local papers complaining on the amount of beaches that have been taken over. The people are upset, and you cannot blame them. You dont see the beaches being taken over en masse on the other islands I.e Barbados, Grenada Antigua and others in this way. And I'm sure if it was those people of those islands would be disgruntled to.

While Jamaica is a beautiful country and caters to tourists the locals are struggling especially the low income earners. I visit Jamaica very often and I would love to return but every thing is so expensive. Houses and land prices are doubled and sometimes triple. Not to mention materials and labor. Crime is out of control so much fraud and the list goes on. It’s a difficult decision for some persons especially if you have been away for a long time.

Very true. I understand your point but expensive is relative. On a personal level I look at this from the perspective of, I need to increase my income level. OK, let us understand a few things, Healthcare is being worked on, there are housing solutions, and they are accessible as a young person. I can say that focusing on buying a house is not the solution. Young people need to focus on creating sources of income. Our education system needs the corporation of parents because you can bring a horse to the water, but you can't force it to drink. Nobody gives anyone jobs. It's either you have spent time working on becoming high value, and people see where your skills are needed. I say all this, Jamaica has a fundamental problem. The people, we all know what to do, but everyone is expecting someone else to solve our problem. Do you know how much business have jobs but can't find suitable people to fill the positions.

That's great, and if that's your vision, go for it. Let me ask you this, where do you plan on returning? What's your long-term plan? I find that most Jamaicans are not capable of looking past their nose, we only see the next few steps. We don't make these decisions with an end goal on mind. The sad part is, it's only when we reach a certain age and realize that hey, it's too cold in the foreign land. I need a place like Jamaica. Let me go home, that is when we start to look for opportunities to make investment decisions in our home land, at which point it's too late. The only reason you are so interested in going to Japan is because their people had a 1000-year plan. And their people think long term.

When I was in second year of university I took on a job to pay my tuition because I was the one paying myself through life. The returning resident ripped me off took my design and used it and did not pay me. Used tricks on me to get my drawing. I dropped out of school for the semester because of that. I was depending in that money to pay my tuition . So do I label all returning resident or do I move forward and understand that out of 10 I come across 1 may be a rotten egg and I just have to be vigilant.
