A Wisconsin man stands trial for allegedly murdering and dismembering his parents without remorse, and providing false information on their disappearances. Chandler Michael Halderson, 23, faces charges including first-degree intentional homicide. Remains from his father Bart Halderson, 50, and mother Krista Halderson, 53, were found days apart, authorities said.
Defendant Halderson reported his parents missing July 7th, claiming they left their home in the Village of Windsor days before on the 1st. He told WISC-TV at the time that they were going to the village of White Lake, Wisconsin.
“My last message I got from them, they were going to White Lake for the Fourth of July,” he told “There are some festivities that go around there. Better drink prices at the bars. Stuff like that.”
He said that to his knowledge, they were then going to their cabin in Langlade County.
“Along the way, they could’ve stopped many places,” he said. “I wouldn’t know all of them.”
He was allegedly just feeding everyone lies.
Bart’s torso was found in rural Dane County, while remains from Krista were found in Sauk County and property run by the Department of Natural Resources, according to court documents obtained by The Wisconsin State Journal.
Their son had been searching Google for terms like “Body found Wisconsin,” “Woman’s body found in Wisconsin,” “Wisconsin dismembered body found,” and “Dead body found in Wisconsin,” authorities said. Investigators suggested Chandler Halderson used to a visit to property belonging to the partner of his girlfriend’s mother as cover to hide his father’s torso nearby. He had shot Bart Halderson at least once before dismembering him, officials said.
According to investigators, Halderson said after his arrest that “you don’t know the whole story,” and that he “didn’t feel bad about what I did.”

It's so interesting how two can be born to the same parents and I assume raised similarly, and one thrives and one fails so miserably. The only thing chandler had over his brother is better mixture of facial features inherited from their parents, but awful in every other way. Bizarre and fascinating.

For those complaining about a little foul language, I have to say I appreciate the transparency of recording the entire time - that's what we as citizens should demand from our police. I will be the first to scrutinize bad cops, but they were polite and professional around the Halderson son and his girlfriend and seemed to be thorough in their investigation. Some of the one-liners when it was just the cops together were also comedy gold. I can only assume these rural cops had no idea what this case would ultimately turn into!

This is so sad! This couple worked hard and gave their sons a good life. They should have been allowed to carry on and enjoy their home and cottage and eventual retirement and possible grandchildren. It is such a weird thing that CH allegedly lied about his work and education. Was he jealous of his brother? Interesting that he said he'd fallen down the stairs just after his brother had medical issues. I'd love to know how the two brothers got on when they were younger and if there had been any alarm bells with CH's behaviour.

So sad for Mitchell, the only remaining Halderson family member that has to live on with this mess. He's got a fiance, and later, if he has kids... those kids will never know their father's grandparents, but will know one day that their Daddy's brother murdered them. Emotional baggage and damage? Oh, yeah. So what if Mitchell is inheriting a million. He's got a cross to bear for the rest of his life. So, so, so sad.
