I just picked mine up in Ontario (Canada) yesterday. I came from the 2021 "outdoor model, which in Canada- meant I already had the 2.5L, forward facing camera, heated steering wheel options. I havent had the vehicle off-road yet- but a few changes have already become quite clear between this model and my previous outdoor. The handling definitely feels more sprite in the '24, as i believe they pulled the steering rack from the wrx (dont quote me on that). The braking is definitely more aggressive, and im not just attributing that to coming from a car with 40,000km to a new vehicle. The action felt entirely different. Although i consider my '21 quite a dog on acceleration (probably because i compare it to my other vehicles which have considerably more power) the '24 definitely seems to have a little more "umph" to it. This is no doubt due to the different gear ratio from the previous model. The seats are by FAR more comfortable than the '21 (even though my outdoor had the water-resistant seats) and the interior seems far more appealing. Im more of a "physical buttons" kind of guy, so the screen is going to take a bit to win me over. I feel there were plenty of things that they could have still used actual hard buttons for- but they decided to make EVERYTHING touch screen. The wireless charging/car play/android auto is refreshing to me, as the last model was all corded inputs that seemed flawed from time to time. The lack of front facing camera is a bit of a let down, but i can manage without it. Overall, the car feels great. I would definitley consider it to be an upgrade from the 21 outdoor model, and springing for the HK sound system/ sunroof is also a great idea if its in your budget.

With the amount of black plastic cladding, I think the Magnetite Gray is the way to go, the dark paint color makes the cladding stick out less.

I own the new Crosstrek in Australia (I'm American, but now live there) and I find it interesting what is different about the Aussie one to the US one. We have a forward camera as standard, along with 360 degrees cameras that can be used while driving and offroading, but we don't get the Wilderness here. We also have a few things in the infotainment that are different and such.

it also has a very impressive 4.11 gear ratio. In other words this thing can "rocket out of the pocket" with authority. This is one great feature that as far as I know is the only vehicle in its segment to have this.

I wish the Subaru Crosstrek was offered in Canada with a Wilderness trim. I love Subaru's all-weather seats.

There are other options that you can add, but that you add them at the Subaru dealership like Auto dimming mirror with garage remote settings, and LED interior lighting!!

I LOVE these little buggers-- if I can just get PAST the CVT and former engine issues... which I know are SUPPOSE to be fixed. They look like such FUN to drive. I also KNOW they have THE BEST AWD system in the market- hands down- and they can actually out-perform jeeps often.

What is the total width including mirrors the measurement online don’t seem accurate since they are the same as a Honda fit

Well, I'm the owner of the 2024 outback. Driving is ok. The infotainment system ... good luck with that. It is a nightmare. I stopped counting all these glitches we had. We own this car for only two months, but I simply hate it. Makes me sad any time I have to turn the ignition on and ... wait for glitches..

Since you have the word SMALL in there-- I'd say ALMOST.. or possibly YES most rugged. I still find it very hard to trust the boxers and the CVT.. (I'm old school- and breaking habits is hard)...but I guess I'll have to get over it since almost all makers are going to the CVT (by govt. regulation for environment and gas use)...

I know what I'll be doing on Monday morning 🙂

I have the 2024 Sport with one size larger Falken Wildpeak AT’s. It’s a blast on the back roads and with almost 9 inches of clearance it does great, I’m looking forward to winter. For the “no physical buttons” haters, in less than a week you don’t even notice, the screen has the climate control buttons at the bottom all the time, physical buttons to control the temps and volume and tuning knobs. I’ve had no infotainment glitches that others have described and the CVT hasn’t had one issue, it is weird to not have shifts but if you bought one without test driving it to see how the CVT works, that’s on you. The Wilderness at $33k is good bang for the buck, the RAV4 TRD is easily $40k if you can find one. This is a great walk around review. I look forward to October 2nd.

Its crazy this thing cost almost as much as a forester wilderness. For the extra little cash id just get a forester wilderness over the crosstrek wilderness honestly.

It’s not an SUV and it’s not a CUV It’s a small station wagon that’s been lifted !! And I’m fine with that!!!

Wow..more exterior vinyl cladding than a house. I don't mind visual zip but there are so many patterns and visual confusion issues that it is overload. Like the interior trim but a power seat requires a sunroof and audio upgrade? Jumpin' Juniper! Increased ground clearance, firmer suspension, auxiliary trans. cooler are all useful. Really want to take it off-road and pound it to pieces? Well not me! Suggestion: a base Forester, Geolandar tires, all weather tray mats, dealer installed Subaru splash guards and a trip to a reputable sound shop for a quality loudspeaker upgrade. Maybe a trip to dealerparts for a nicer wheel center caps and a trip to a good body shop to refinish wheels in black..gloss will clean up nicely, thank you. The 27 mpg overall isn't too thrifty but perhaps the Forester base is more economically geared. Save thousands and lose little except some geegaws that are aesthetically questionable. Nice basic car..a theme carried too far in an attempt yo snag your hard earned $, not much more. Oh..and keep it on road and clean underneath and topside! Please! Save your cash and minimize visual clash!

Wish that color was available in non-wilderness Subarus. Hate the cladding, the hood wrap and those boring wheels.

I wish they'd all (manugacturers) would get AWAY from this "ASSIST" BS--- I want to drive my OWN car- not have some stupid computer trying to do it.. or interfere with MY driving. When I'm driving- I DRIVE-- I don't fool with any stupid screens-- (another thing I wish they'd all get away from- they're STUPID, and NOT needed.) I towed for a long time and 87% of the accidents I worked were CAUSED by IDIOTS messing with screens- and when you've cleaned up after a few wrecks where babies and small kids were KILLED by that stupidity-- you'd hate them too!!

It's stupid to be "towing" with any car-- especially a little one- prone to issues anyway..

I do not know why people buy these tiny cars when the Forester for similar price is VASTLY better car......Paul

Way too underpowered and the gearing isn’t sufficient!

Damn that thing is uglyyyy, plus low 20’s on the mpg and bunker like windows, I just don’t see the point….

Not a fkn chance I'd buy that ugly car. No, it is not rugged. No, it is not stunning (in the good sense). That is a hideous vehicle susceptible to all the usual Subaru troubles, namely the head gaskets. Just no. With that look, hell no.
