Wildfire near Sacramento, California, torches more than 2,000 acres

A wildfire north of Sacramento, California, fueled by oppressively high temperatures has burned more than 2,000 acres. It's one of multiple wildfires the state is fighting. CBS News Sacramento reporter Rachel Wulff has more.

The fires actually started right here in Oroville I was watching it yesterday right from my window it was like the end of the world. Truly a sign.😢

Every year, every summer. And the global temperature swings are only going to become worse, little by little. But it only takes 1-3 degrees to begin a decades-long ripple effect. By 2400, lands nearest to the equator may be the only areas that could plausibly support organic life without additional technologies. Even then, humanity will be FORCED to seek shelter underground.

You can drive down the back roads and Slo County and see at least 10 different trees hanging over onto the wires blowing back and forth and that's why we have wildfires in California because PG&E doesn't keep up the maintenance on their wires

PG&E is corrupt. They want to line their pockets and they want their shareholders to be filthy rich but they don't want to do one bit of maintenance..

The tribe that lived in the area for the last 600 years called it "the smokey valley" since the whole valley would fill with smoke during the annual fires.

Because NO grass grows under the Oak trees... Quite normal for Califoirnia live oak trees to be the ony thing green after severe fires.

Happens all the time. Strange behavior how some things burn and some things don't. My house burned flat to the ground in Santa Barbara yet a wooden wagon wheel was 10 feet away and it is made of wood and it was in perfect condition. Don't believe in conspiracy nonsense.

There was 16%RH and a 9+mph wind and 100+ temp!! they lucky it's only 3002 acres. and they had a Lot of airtankers working this fire that is why they did as good as they did.

Yes, aluminum melts really easy. Tons of it around my house when my house burned to the ground in Santa Barbara. Nothing special about that.

Actually oak trees in California are considered a fire retardant and not fuel in many cases. Try doing a little bit of homework on the subject.

California politicians wanted to return to a more natural fire ecosystem but stopping all fuel management in the state. It is really not that natural but it is exactly like how fires burned in the 1930's before active fuel management. I keep thinking that the people of CA will want to control these fires but so far they seem to like them.

The wildfires have always been a thing in California. The problem is the California government has not known how to manage this kind of thing. It's not supposed to become so out of control.
