I’m still backing him. I have concerns and injuries alone should never be an excuse. But a mad injury crisis while you are trying to change a club’s identity while the club itself is undergoing a takeover and your head is on the chopping block for most of the season can’t be easy. Not for any manager. Plus, based on what we’ve seen from certain players in recent years and what Ole said this past week, it’s clear there are some real turds in the squad still. Accept the fact that so far he hasn’t got his ideas across and we’re playing shit, so if certain fans want him out, fine. But, I personally think he deserves another shot next year with full backing from the club and hopefully a fitter, more driven squad that’s more capable. Plus, go get any manager in world football ~ bring Klopp in, and it will still take 3 years minimum to get this team challenging. We are still miles off. Needed “open heart surgery” eighteen months ago, and I’m yet to see it.

He could have said a lot more here. What manager in the premier league has had to deal with what Ten Hag has had to deal with in less than a 2 seasons and done as well? The man is dealing with players leaking information, partying, court cases, piers Morgan interviews, no CEO for a chunk of the season, no director of football, new owners and all the problems before him. The man got champions league football and a cup in his first season, Klopp and Arteta came 8th with better structures behind them. I think the whole “we need to go through the painful parts to get to the success” is spot on. Look at Arteta, they were calling for his head by the second season finishing 8th. He’s cycled through several of his own signings that didn’t work out, got the time he needed, and now they are a more consistent top 4 team, fighting for trophies. Even if they aren’t up to the city level yet, he got the time to work with the team and find the right players. My hope would be he gets one more year under the new management to see if he can get us back on the right track. If we sack him tho, we gotta be patient for whoever comes in next.. I don’t think results are just gonna magically change if we get a new manager in for a couple years.

This makes a lot of sense and it’s a very surreal deja vu feeling yet again, when rangnick was sacked and ten hag was newly appointed, everyone was saying right let’s be patient this time and give him time to do what he needs to do, he overachieved last season and got rid of the toxic ronaldo, this season he’s been hampered by squad injuries and had to deal with the sancho and greenwood drama and crap recruitment and director of football, yet fans are blaming the manager again after poor results, it’s almost like everyone’s got short term memory loss!

@@sean11lee there are a lot to check on guys. Arteta deep down I am sure he was telling the management to give him time so that he can COPY PASTE what he got from pep and how to play modern football and WIN. from the start you could see what he was trying to do.. ETH with his philosophy divorced in the first game of his campaign. He himself succumbed to the pressure from fans and instead of building a way of play and his good philosophy he is currently looking for every funny way just to get a win.. The team play bad but with him he says the game was good! at times you must balance the fans psychology as well just accept that the play is bad and do better. currently he have set his standards of measuring good and bad play. with his narrow and toe to toe narrative the bad results reproduce. Make people believe in your project. As of today i am pretty sure given two more seasons and Chelsea project also same amount, poch will overtake him. Poch himself found players he never chose or known but he is trying to fix and teach them his way, facing Luton or man city they play their system now look at ETH who is 2 seasons in. I cant imagine there are some fans who agree with his philosophy and post match analysis to an extent of accepting that what he says is the realty and good.

It’s simple. Here’s the problem. Many United managers have got caught between two conflicting goals - Goal 1) Get good enough results to keep your job , often by sacrificing good football Goal 2) Play the football that you want to and build a team over the long term ( eg 3-4 years ) These goals don’t easily combine and usually conflict. The more TH is “ on trial “ for his job the more likely he is to go for goal 1) , so essentially he’s trapped , because goal 2 ) is impossible to achieve if you are sacked…..So what’s the answer ? Decide who your manager is and tell him that he is there for 4 years no matter what ( even relegation ) , but he has to go for goal 2) not goal 1)………it’s only by taking a long term strategy that results arrive and good football emerges.

I think Adam spoke well. The feeling of uncertainty around the manager is very real, but so is the fear of his replacement being considerably worse given the names INEOS are reportedly looking at. There is a big trust issue with this Glazer-Ratcliffe partnership. The new regime, if it is indeed trying something new, are asking for a lot of faith in their decision-making when they've only just come in. No DoF in post yet, but a feeling they are going to wait for a high-quality one whilst at the same time considering replacing the manager with Southgate or Potter - this feels like impatience to get the positivity back. It feels rash. It might be the wrong move as you can't unmake it. So what if we miss out on the mangers who've been mentioned. A good point about the atmosphere, though. It does sound flat, especially if we go a goal down, whereas City, Liverpool, and Arsenal fans know their team can raise it so they're calm if they start off slow.

Too much negative comments for ETH which IMHO is unreasonable. Last season, won a cup and got CL and without a top no 9. This season, unprecedented injuries, particularly in defence. This matters because if you go behind, a counter attack strategy struggles. New keeper. People forget De Gea was scratchy in his first season for the club. New striker. It takes time and especially when the club haven’t really had a no 9 for years. Off the field issues with Greenwood, Sancho, Antony and Rashford. Club sale / not sale - which has been an ongoing distraction. Being still in the hunt for 5th place isn’t bad given all this… I’m old enough to remember Sir Alex Ferguson’s MU early years. I see similarities and I also see stats that position ETH well. Hold the line. Trust the manager and hopefully INEOS adds value to support him.

I won't be convinced that Ten Haag, Ragnick and Solksjaer did not coach these players. If the coaches were to blame, we'd see structures of play that didn't work. “We have to go through some painful stuff to be be successful”..yeah that’s the best one. I think we should just stick on with Ten Hag, give him time and support (not just fan support but from club as well in terms of resource) he will come out with flying colors in next 2-3 years. Support as in he shouldn’t be taking some decisions like Antony and keeping Bruno in the team. He should get some support to show some bravery

Let's remember, Mr. Carragher, KLOPP DIDN'T WANT MO SALAH, and look how that turned out. I'm 100% in agreement with Adam here, as the Glazers have yet, since SAF left, to implement anything even resembling a world-class structure at the club. Luckily, Ratcliffe knows how important the recruitment, facilities, coaching, personnel, etc. are to have to even ALLOW the managers and the players to do their best, and finally decisions will be made as a whole and not just at the whim of a single man.

Look, we have to give ETH another season in the new structure. There are some fundamental things that are not being mentioned when talking about ETH and his signings: 1 - The manager entered the job with a boatload of players with wrong attitude 2 - The structure above him for signings and scouting has been notoriously poor historically Therefore as soon as he stepped through the door, he had to go with: 1- Players that he knew had the right desire and attitude (Martinez, Malacia, Anotony, Casimiro) - despite some of them not being the best, they all work hard. 2 - ETH had no trust in the structure above so he had to go with what he knows There is proven evidence that supports the above being the case. Throw into the mix the amount of controversy he had to deal with in his first 18 months: - Ronaldo going public - Jadon Sancho going against the manager - Greenwood situation - Uncertaintiy with the sale of the club - Plague of injuries this season The guy needs time, he will get it right I am sure of it. Give him the support and let him thrive in the right structure.

Its hard to know what goes on in the offices and the boards or old trafford. To me if ETH has a sound plan and strategy. Keep him and sack every player and coach that has a has attitude to that plan. Its fine it they don't like it but if they aren't committing to our manager they have to go. I don't see anew manager regardless of who it is fixing utd. Id love to say get rid of board members owners too but they sit higher than the manager so fat chance. ETH another season. Id really love to see players on our team with a fighting spirit even if they lose which has been few and far between ever since Sir Alex retired

ETH needs the transfer and scouting guru to implement his style without breaking the bank to only go for players he know. Hear me out. E.g. if he wants an inside forward with high work rate. Because of the poor structure and maybe limited knowledge of players we have, we have to rely on ETH's recommendations and they have to go 80m on Antony who is the ONLY target ETH want. IF a football director was around, he'll recommend alternatives that may have high potentials and lower transfer fee? We really need to keep him, Southgate and other candidates available are rubbish really. And I think ETH will come good with proper backing like how he did at Ajax

I can't understand the way people talk about United managers and signings. To me it seems like they're making assumptions out of pure ignorance, but it always feels like there's a hint of malice with Carragher. You say he's had power to do whatever he wants, sign anyone no matter the cost without oversight. But he's working with a scouting department that wouldn't green light Haaland, but did for Amad and Pellistri. He's working with a director of football who hasn't got a clue. He's working with the same money men who have overspent and overpaid for 10 years. The same people who paid more for Fellaini because they thought they could pay less than his release clause. The same people who paid £130 million for Maguire and Wan-Bissaka. And it feels like they're prepping another manager's neck for the guillotine, yet another manager sacrificed and taking the fall for the shitshow around them. And every manager we get linked with has the exact same philosophy as Ten Hag and will fail with the same players. Unless this new backroom can fix the squad so it's fit for purpose for SOMEBODY, instead of a broken mix of 5 managers jigsaw puzzles, we'll go round and round in circles.

Ten Hag is a top 6 manager in the world, but it’s a collective effort. I’ve worked in teams where the leaders were dog shite and the best folks would come, try really hard for a couple of years, and then realize it’s useless and leave. I don’t think we can go out and with confidence recruit better than him right now. But this is just my current opinion.

If you replace Ten Hag, ANY manager you go for is a bet. When he was interviewing the other option was Poccetino and look how he's doing. De Zerbi, Graham Potter, Tuchel, Zidane or any other manager you go for is a bet. They may sound promising, but no one is a guarantee. Give this manager a chance, Sir Alex got it and even Klopp last season was terrible because of injuries. If Ancelotti, Guardiola or Klopp were dying to come to United, fair enough get rid of him. But at this moment in time, no one is a guarantee they are all just bets.
