I think it is, if they wanted to give us answers the DLC would need to be time travel to the past. They are giving us an alternate reality that is related to the story. My bet is most will be left unanswered, maybe we get more info on Marika, we are getting more on Miquella.

I guess the implication is she doesnt have much to say. She does apologise for not being able to offer guidance at the start of the game. I want to know more about Melina's origin her connection to Marika the gloam-eyed queen, the godslayers and destined death but unfortunately the DLC will be more focused on Miquella, dark secrets of the golden order, Marika's affair or secrets too and possible Godwyn connections..
@aldrichunfaithful358921 күн бұрын
my tinfoil hat theory is that melina was mesmer's twin who was born from the same affair with the god of the shadow lands, then mesmer sided with marika in the conflict while melina stayed loyal to her father the previous god, and due to her link with that place when the sun was taken away she became the gloam eyed queen. then she gets revenge with a god killing spree and skins them just like we see marika do to the people of the shadow lands in that trailer shot
@simonealcazar81621 күн бұрын
Melina already tells use she’s the daughter of Marika, it’s quite explicit. The connections to her and the Gloam eyed Queen is barely nonexistent. Lore accurate carian knight will always be a chad build. Your PvP gameplay is pretty good! Great use of the carian knight sword moveset, I have a soft spot for that weapon. Despite its shortcomings, the unique moveset is fun and interesting, along with being quite effective in PvE. They really should have either made it so the guard boost/damage negation is higher to lean into the blocking R2 better, or make it double as a catalyst like everyone was expecting it would. Please From, just give it a little something at least. Also, I definitely think the DLC will answer a lot of basic lore questions that have been plaguing the community since launch, while also introducing new mysteries that will become the central focal point for the lore community. I think it’s a safe bet considering that: 1) the DLC lore was already laid down by Martin from the beginning 2) huge chunks of basic lore/timeline are glaringly missing 3) cut content from the base game along with interviews from Miyazaki and team heavily imply that From simply didn’t have time to fully flesh out the whole story in the base game, and barely made the release deadline as it was. Martin wrote a ton of material for them to work with, I don’t see them wasting much of that for the purposes of creating ongoing mysteries, although we can expect they’ll still leave a lot open for speculation.

The thing that's been driving me up the wall since the main game came out is Elphael's layout and the situation with Mohg and Miquella. To sum up my notes at the time is that the kidnapping idea made no sense- Mohg couldn't have snuck out of Elphael. (He did get noticed by that one wandering noble in the snowfield, but he would have been noticed by everyone in Elphael, too, because it's *way better guarded* than that area in the snowfield.) As I'm prepping my DLC character, I've been back through Elphael and it still bothers me to no end. Stuff like that layout of the guards, along with how Malenia and the Haligtree soldiers know Miquella is gone and yet they guard the place like he's still there and they expect Miquella to return on his own. (Not to mention the question of how Mohg knew that Miquella was embedding himself in the Haligtree roots at all, and the strangeness of Miquella respinning the cocoon on the Mohgwyn grounds...)

The world has teleporters. They can even be a surprise gas in a chest! Anyone getting anywhere makes perfect sense if you assume they just went through a portal. Just because *we* only found teleports to certain places doesn't mean there aren't others. Maybe behind walls that are now closed off or hidden behind some roots or something.
@eldritchtouched20 күн бұрын
@@robbybevard8034 This violates the way FromSoft does their world design, to need to speculate about a secret teleporter that isn't shown or even hinted at, to explain away how Mohg got through Elphael unnoticed. We do encounter teleporters, but one is to get from Ordina into the Haligtree, and the one that goes directly to Mohgwyn is in the Snowfield. In which case, why not set up the teleporter to get out of Elphael to go directly to the Mohgwyn grounds? I was into the Souls series prior to Elden Ring. FromSoft's pretty solid about their world design and its implications for the story. That's why I took note of how weird Elphael was in the first place. : \ (That's not even getting into the weirdness surrounding character stuff. Which is important when also considering GRRM is one of the writers and how he uses character knowledge. Malenia knows Miquella is gone and is fine with waiting for him to return on his own...)
@robbybevard803420 күн бұрын
@@eldritchtouched You're the one adding a complication that isn't hinted at in-story. "Mohg should have found it impossible to get out of there". Nevermind his power, knowledge, people that can teleport in out of nowhere as summons, people that can turn invisible, blood powers... There's any number of explanations for the problem you decided was a problem. What's the deal with Godefrey the Grafted being an exact double of Godrick? Or why is there a second Astel in the snowfields? Even when you consider its a whole species of alien bug monsters, it getting to that specific location from underground makes no sense. So you have to assume that it dug or landed there. While the game is generally very well thought out, some things are just there because its a game and it needed to be there, and how something got from location A to location B years ago isn't always something that's going to have a clear answer.

It’s downplayed in current game but may elaborate on what the sun is cosmology. Sun imagery appears related to omen, with dung-eater armor being the main example until the dlc wickerman. The shadow lands is probably the sun kingdom that’s mentioned on that one shield and we probably get more elaborate how eclipsing (ie told worm-eaten in the Japanese) the sun relates to fixing soullessness. Do also have a prediction that the Oman demigod twins may be the product of a consort before Godfrey like the old man in the first dlc trailer (or is just a cured byproduct like all fromsoft root-of-problems suffers).

Hey Rata. FROM did something similar with original Dark Souls regarding content. I don't know if you remember, but there was an art book released and it had those manticores you fought in the beginning of the DLC. Well, the fact they were in the art books really confused people until the DLC came out lol. I think we will get Marika answers about her past for sure, but only to serve as foreshadowing for Miquella's path. Those ashes Vaati mentioned was a pretty big nugget. I would not be surprised however if we don't hear a lot about the GEQ. I think she's a good start to ER 2, if I am correct. A lot of people are in for a really big treat on the 21st. Id argue that ds3 does nothing to answer the actual questions introduced in the base game, it more so answers questions from ds1 actually with the ringed city, but nothing about the deep, profained flame, londor church, or even history of lothric was not explored in the dlc, the dlc was just a conclusion story to ds1 and series as a whole, not to ds3 specifically. I think this is where popular idea that the dlcs never answer questions from the base game came from, even when bloodborne dlc literally revealed so many big named characters from the base game. And ds1 and ds2 revealed in great detail about past events the base games only briefly mention, like the story of the abyss walker and the old kingdoms in dranglaic

Questions Previews Promised Answers To 1. What happened to Miquella and what is his ultimate Fate. (This will include side questions like “How good of a person is he?” and “Is Trina a disguise or distinct persona?”) 2. What did Marika do to become a god and plant the Erdtree, & what were her ambitions (which will at least have strong implications for how competent a ruler she was along with why and how she tore her realm down). Questions That Implicitly Will Get Answers 1. What was the exact nature of the Crucible and why did the Order grow to hate it and the Omens (Shadowland culture & “Hornsent” are so blatantly made by Omens they can’t not explain the deal. May also have ties to the colonized natives of Limgrave and the Banished Knights,but that veers into tangent) 2. Details on the latter descendants of Marika/members of the Demigod Family besides the surviving major warlords of the current era (I cannot begin to guess the precise answers, but simply adding Messmer to the family tree and pinning down his relationship with Marika and everyone else will be fodder for theorists. I ardently hope we will at least be told about other, minor demigods, but I’ll be understanding if all we get new is him, & grateful if it includes deets on the alliances and politics between the pre-existing family members in their early days.) Questions With A Small Chance Of Answers 1. What exactly is the deal with Godwyn’s lobotomized body. (According to at least 1 or 2 pre-viewers, a Knight Miniboss that is claimed in flavor text to revere Godwyn post-Black Knifing is encountered, plus Miquella is recorded as stating that giving the Prince of Death a proper death is one of his specific goals. This will not be a major storyline like Miquella’s personal quest or the truth of the Omen persecution, but I will be shocked if we don’t get a mini-quest chain or at least encounter a minor side-faction that is exploiting the Prince of Death for expanded lore on this front.) 2. Insight about past/rival cosmic entities, their mortal champions/contenders, and why is everyone fighting for the Lands Between (Learning about Marika and the Erdtree will necessitate learning at least a hint about the Greater Will, Shadowland is where “unwanted forms of death” were sealed and there are Ghostflame-fueled golems to fight, so that’s a bit of guaranteed extra lore on the Twinbird, that one talisman or trinket Vaati transcribed talking about “a harrowed clan worshiping a horrific being in the shadow of the ancestor’s corpse” strongly implies Frenzied Flame presence, and in general it makes sense to learn about failed Outer Gods and such forces in this tomb of Marika’s enemies. Also there is literally an NPC named the “Empyrean Grandma”. I REALLY hope we learn SOMETHING about Gloam-Eyed Queen, but if it’s just the Bird, the Flame, & whoever Marika screwed over for power, that’s plenty).

Really want to know whether she knew Miquella was 'divesting himself of his flesh' and heading to the Shadow Realm. Or maybe we could tell her (pure cope) of what Miquella was doing if you did the dlc before the Malenia fight. Also is that woman in the story dlc trailer wielding the 'Godskin stitcher' kind of weapon during Messmer's siege the gloam-eyed queen perhaps? Can't wait for this dlc man, I need more Elden Ring hahaha

Im thinking about all the lore information that has been put together based on what we have and how much of that will need to be revamped once the full story is on the table.

My most itching questions are about Radagon.

i don't get the worry tbh, both the old hunters and the ringed city/ashes of ariandel explain A LOT about bloodborne and dark souls (3, but even about the whole trilogy) And, as we know "Miquella spoke of the beginning"

Honestly, I'm VERY hopeful this time, for three reasons, besides it talking about Miquella, Marika and the emphasis on "the land where marika first set foot and the erdtree was born". Those are the three BIG things we wished the dlc gave us, no one cares about the fucking land of reeds or things like that 1 it being about someone we well know from the base game 2 that they didn't forget St Trina 3 (spoiler for footage showed in the previews) There are DEATHBIRDS. i genuinely thought they would have been forgotten, which doesn't seem the case

Some answers on Melina would be nice

how are new weapons, armor, spells, miracles and ashes of war going to work in the original game areas? will they work at all? can the player easily go back and forth between expansion area and original game content? will expansion owners and non-expansion owners be able to interact with new gear in the original areas via multiplayer?

If you think about it, if the dlc stuff wasent cut from the main game, it would have probably taken one more year to make. When everything is sead and done this game is going to be massive takes allmoat 150 hours to beat it normaly but i am slow and check everything

Hey Rata are you gonna discuss all the new details that came out today about Wilds or is that all on the back burner till you're done with Shadow of the Erdtree?

My prediction is the DLC will give us 100 times more lore on stuff we never thought about or never even knew about than actual answers to preexisting questions. And yes, this is my Ringed City PTSD talking.

If we consider that the dlc in er is really gonna be another 2/3 of the game then there’s gonna be a crazy amount of lore we don’t have

I don't want too many answers, think about it. If there were definitive answers, would the community have been so fueled to find answers by working today together.

Ha, every Souls DLC always just adds more questions that make you question if you even knew anything in the first place.

what would really help would be things in the DLC that will set the timeline in stone.
