I am so glad you are Canadians . I just bought a Sportman 106 PDL in Florida at Silente water in Englewood as a Canadian snowbird from Toronto . The ruder change was amazing and difficult

Congrats on the Sportsman! We absolutely love the platform for all types of fishing. The rudder change can be a real pain, but so worth it! You won't regret it! Enjoy that warm Florida weather! we're not jealous at all! 🥶🥶😂 Thanks for watching! 🙌

Great job on getting out there! And as always entertaining video. Your 20 minute "free rider" as I like to call them, happens all the time with me. Those juvenile Chinooks are super aggressive! When they're really thick it can be hard to get your bait down without them hitting it. That said, I've upgraded my downrigger (same setup as Kyle's Cannon & V-Lock) as the up/down of the downrigger can be exhausting!
@kckayakfishing
@kckayakfishing 3 ай бұрын
Definitely our fault by not having our downrigger clips tension set correctly, but made for some funny footage! 😂 the cannon down rigger is a game changer! Especially being right behind the seat, with the old town seats already being in a leaned back position, not having to lean way forward to crank the ball up is so much easier! And Definitely notice a huge difference having the 1.5:1 ratio, with the size difference being minimal I kind of wish I would have gone with the 2:1. But having the proper equipment makes the world of difference, even with Crystal's new downrigger having the bigger handle, it's much easier to bring in, also having the clutch to send her gear down it's amazing we used the lake troller for as long as we did! Thanks for watching! We need to do a collab this season! 🙌🤘

You know, I so wish I had your patience with committing "on how should to release a salmon." Most of the time I just block them. I enjoy you both and brag to my kids and my wife for what you all do. I wouldn't let that stuff be on your commits. There are trolls everywhere, with that said. I did same thing on the same type of release too. But you are totally correct. Safety and life are not measured by mistakes. I wish you both come out to my area in Washington State......I know you both would love what we have here too. I'm always willing help you both on some fun places to fish here. Anyways much respect. :)

Here's the thing, people can comment and say whatever they like, we have a public channel, and that's what we sign up for, but if people think they're going to come here and run their mouth without getting snapped back on they're sadly mistaken. Our comments section isn't a safe space for people to say whatever they want without consequences. But with all that said Crystal will be censoring my comments from now on hahaha! I've always been a swing first ask questions later kind of guy, and we don't want people to shy away from commenting. We are definitely planning on doing some trips south of the border and would love to meet up! We always enjoy meeting people that enjoy the channel and the content we put out! Appreciate your support! And thanks for watching! 🫶

Ha! Yup my wife handles the drama for me on my commits. We think a lot a like. You all should come out for the Baker Lake Sockeye in July. The Sockeye opener around the second week...or so. Depends on WDFW peeps. Breathe taking area with Mount Baker is always right there in site. Blue and green waters. 200-plus feet deep lake....something to see. Hint Hint @@kckayakfishing

Such a beautiful day on the water! What rod (brand & model) are you using for salmon trolling? Looks like a Shimano Trevala B series if I'm not wrong, but what specs? Also, I'm struggling to find a landing net that is both light and wide and deep enough for salmon and bottom fish. Your nets seem to be the perfect size for a kayak!
@kckayakfishing
@kckayakfishing Ай бұрын
You got it! Shimano Trevala, and we use the 7' Medium Light rods, they've been great for Salmon fishing so far we highly recommend them. We had the same problem with our old nets and it took some searching but we picked up some Gibbs GV-48 landing nets. Not terribly heavy and a massive hoop size and way deeper than our old nets, borderline too deep! 😂 We may possibly cut down the handles to make them a bit shorter in the future once we get a bit more time with them. But so far so good! www.gibbsfishing.ca/products/gv-series Thanks for watching!

A great example of how you shouldn't net, measure and release a fish that you aren't keeping for sure. Keep it in the water!
@kckayakfishing
@kckayakfishing 3 ай бұрын
Most of the time we release in the water if we aren't 100% sure that we're keeping it. This one was close so I pulled it out, they can't all be perfect releases 🤦‍♂️
@ScottMacInnes
@ScottMacInnes 3 ай бұрын
@@kckayakfishing unfortunately the problem is that you took it straight out of the water into the kayak, fiddled with it, measured it, took a picture, then the shaky release that could happen to anyone happened. I'm not trying to be a pain, it's just not the way that it should be done and if you're going to put videos out you should do better to encourage/inform those that are watching. Don't get me wrong, I have made these same errors, but that is why I didn't make a video about me learning how to kayak fish. Just some food for thought.
@kckayakfishing
@kckayakfishing 3 ай бұрын
@ScottMacInnes you're 100% right, next time we'll keep it in the water, lean over the side of the kayak and try to get a measure on it, probably flip but at least the fish will swim away, which it did anyways, I get what you're saying but our safety on the water comes before the fish and reaching and leaning is a no no, so yes I pulled the fish in the kayak, took the hook out and took a picture, at the end of the day the fish ended up swimming away fine so I'd call it a successful release. We're not learning how to kayak fish we've been doing it for years and can count the "bad" releases on one finger, guess which one?
@ScottMacInnes
@ScottMacInnes 3 ай бұрын
@@kckayakfishing wow, that was uncalled for. Take the fish out to measure it, take your glory shot if you have to then get it on it's way. I'm not asking you to risk your life (by your own admission you do that on your own by being unprepared). Don't get pissed with me that you are in the public and doing a disservice to the animals that we all enjoy catching. Do your research, as mortality does not happen on entrance into the water. Please stop attacking me for trying to help you and your viewers to keep the fishing we love available and open. If you think that this was your only time then you should watch your previous videos with a discerning eye. Please do better.

"Most of the time we release in the water,if we aren't 100% sure that we're keeping it. This one was close, so I pulled it out. They can't all be perfect releases." Now this statement agrees with what you originally said, agreeing that it wasn't a perfect release and could of just been left there, but oooh no, you had to double down and make sure you really drove the point home on how I screwed that release up, so who's really attacking who? On this channel we show all aspects of our Kayak fishing, the good the bad and the ugly, it would have been just as easy for me to edit out the whole release like nothing ever happened but this is a real channel. And don't you dare for a second imply that we don't care about the animals when we are fishing when we do everything in our power to make sure we follow every rule while fishing. I've used every bit of lead I had on me to release a giant Yellow Eye and would have tied my battery on if it meant being able to get the fish back down, we don't fish during non retention as we don't believe in catch and release fishing. At the end of the day we value each and every one of our viewers opinions even yours believe it or not, but having someone question our ethics and integrity will not be tolerated, I screwed up and it was a poor release admittedly, what else do you want? I could have just killed it to find out after it was 1/4" shy of being legal. Now, I've tried to agree with you multiple different ways, but if you think this was uncalled for, keep it up, you haven't seen anything yet. Appreciate your support, and thanks for watching 🫶

Thank you! We use the Gibbs GV-48 nets. They have a nice deep basket and a 49-inch handle, not 100% sure yet, but we might look at shortening the handle a bit, maybe take 6-8inches off of it but other than that they work great! Thanks for watching! 🙌
