It was a beautiful, snowy, windy night at the tent. Come and join me as I hunker down for the night and eat some fine food.
---
Where do I live?
Northern Canada.
How much experience do I have?
That depends. I am pretty good at starting a fire these days and gathering wood. But I don't really have true bushcraft skills and definitely no carpentry or construction skills or training. I could probably make a shelter if I had to, but that would just come from all the KZfaq training (watching) over the years.
What gear do I use?
Canon 90D camera x 2
Rode videomicro
Rode wireless go
Sigma Art 18-35mm 1.8
Sigma Art 50mm 1.4
Canon 10-18mm stm
I do not live at the tent. I just visit whenever I can.

Yes, snow is not going to happen where I live. I’m here in San Diego California. I love watching your cold weather videos, and since I can’t go to the mountain trees, I love seeing the snow and the nature and it actually builds up my energy to watch this. I believe you are helping the world Jay!

I don't drink coffee but I do drink black tea and it is so relaxing. I would love to put a clear top on the tent just to see the snow falling down just beautiful. The only thing that would make me wake up is hearing wolf's close to the tent.lol thanks for sharing.😉

When I first saw the episode where the propane tank was installed outside the tent, I was convinced that the fuel would liquify in the cold. I would have put money on that bet. It seems I would have lost. Glad it works so well!

Jay I used to love winter but I am a surveyor and the snow makes my job 4X harder to do. I loved going with my dad in the winter to our camp. We had a 36 km snowmobile ride in. Now, I am 60 and Southern Ontario is way enough winter for me. I bet as you get older you will find winter less appealing. I do love your videos of 🏕⛺ camp all the time. I love 💘 your channel...you are so.likeable and down to earth.

Great video again. Another good breakfast is to cook sossies (sausages), throw in the bacon when the sossies are half cooked, then throw in the beans and when they're hot, chuck eggs and mushrooms in. Top it off with a touch of tabasco, good warming meal to set you up for the wintery weather. Can't beat bacon for brekkie.

I love snow. A girl I was with for 6 years moved to Texas and she asked me to leave with her and that day we parted ways. I love snow and the cold. If I'm cold I can put a layer on but when it's hot and your down to your birthday suit what more could you take off? Hey, jay I really appreciate your videos. I'm sad to see winter go. Watching you enjoy the camping life make me feel that freedom and peaceful feeling. Your truly blessed. Good job. I watch you videos while I paint

My life up to the age of about 30 was spent in Newfoundland, Minnesota, Northern Ontario and I've seen enough -40 weather to last me the rest of my life. I'm glad you're taking all the cold because that just means there's more warmth for me. Looking forward to spring so I can start building out this year's vegetable garden and decorative retaining walls around my house.

To answer your question, yes I could live this way year round. Winter's in Nova Scotia don't cut it for me, unless your living in the Cape Breton Highlands, where there's lots of snow. Heat, humidity and flies can take a hike, fall/winter are my most favorite seasons. Cheers from Sydney Nova Scotia

I love watching your videos. I have spine issues and can't do the work required or the travel/lifting but you bring a wonderful feeling of coziness to your video. Great food which is always tempting to see and coziness. I do wish you had a more comfortable mattress. I used to love exercising and hiking in the cold going inside for a nice dinner, glass of wine. Sometimes fun alone and sometimes with someone else. Sort of a visionquest for me alone.

Cold. Definitely the cold and snow. I am so envious of your April snow. We had maybe....maybe 6 weeks of winter here south of Lake Ontario. What the heck??? What happened to our winter? It's gotta be climate change. Not good. All these weird bugs are migrating north, lakes/ponds now have cyanobacteria in the summer and there's not enough moisture in the soil. I need the old fashion winters back!!

Here in Virginia we have had decent snow (3-9 inches) in April it's very rare but nothing as significant as up north. But during our winters we have had feet of snow come down and most recently in the last 5 years we have had over 3 feet of snow or over a meter of snow but most years it's maybe 1-5 inches over 3-4 months

Well... this weekend I've learnt 2 things: 1. Living it up and breaking all the rules in Northern Canada involves drinking instant coffee at 6:30 in the evening. 2. Living it up and breaking all the rules in Southern Ontario involves longer than Xmas non socially distanced chaos lines at IKEA for "essential" items (Swedish meatballs and poang chairs, I guess?) during a pandemic lockdown. Where do I sign up for NWT/Yukon or Nunavut?

Great video! I would have to say that I enjoy colder weather much more than hot weather. It's kind of relative though. Cold up there is much colder than cold down here and vise versa with the heat. Summer temps here are just brutal. Lots of days at 100 degrees Fahrenheit. That burger looked good. I think it exceeds the "very simple" category when you put brie on a burger. Enjoyed your video as always.

All the manual labor must allow you to eat the incredibly caloric meals you do. I would gain 50 pounds just looking at that burger with brie etc. Cholesterol and triglycerides would shoot through roof. I give you credit. Keep it up. Great exercise. I totally get the tranquility and love you have for the cold weather. I am a woman and never had the upper body strength so opted always for a place that was secluded and less off grid. Wood already cut and so on. My husband hated it.
