I used to wear make-up every day for years as well, and then an esthetician told me to not to wear make-up for 3 days after the facial. I was insecure the first days, but after I felt like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders and I enjoyed it. Now going 4th month without daily make-up (I only wear it for special occasions) and I am loving it. I am focusing all my energy on improving my skin. Last time my skin looked so good was when I was 12!

My wife used to wear a lot of makeup to cover up her acne, but I guess she realized that I like her no matter what, so she doesn't put on so much makeup and her acne's got better too. It's an absolute win.

newsflash for the comments: acne isn't the only thing someone can be insecure about

I'm in middle school and all my friends and other middle schoolers wear makeup everyday. I dont wear makeup, my mum says that you shouldn't wear it at a young age or it damages your skin. In grade 5/6, I did want to wear makeup cuz I was quite insecure or my acne but now I'm very glad i didnt. I took care of my skin with different facial washes, scrubs, masks. Now I dont have acne anymore. So if you do want to get rid of acne, makeup won't help it go away, if you take care of your skin with natural products, it'll eventually go away. It takes a long time but it's all worth the wait. But of course if you're into makeup art, go ahead. It's your passion, you should definitely do it.

It's heartbreaking that so many people are so insecure without makeup. Please just know that you are beautiful. Makeup should enhance your beauty, not change it. Beauty is as beauty do.

I went like a year without makeup, nobody really seemed to care (at least the vast majority of people around me didn't care). A lot of people were super nice and said "I had such pretty skin I didn't need it." There were a few other women who would make snotty comments but I saw it as women who themselves were insecure and got joy out of trying their best to make someone else insecure. It didn't phase me, I just felt bad for them that they didn't feel they could go without it once in awhile. I do wear in now only because I switched to a job where I feel it is more necessary than some other jobs I have held.

I found it very sad how nervous they were and how badly they felt about themselves without it when in reality they all still looked great and mostly the same. I only wear makeup for special occasions and no one ever looks at me as unprofessional or less than because of it. If anything, I just get to go around not worrying about if it'll get messed up and then if I do actually wear it it's a confidence boost, rather than always wearing it and feeling insecure when I don't

I recently started to not wear makeup every day to work. It started around the beginning of the pandemic/ when I got pregnant and I just stopped wearing it. For some reason the 2 times that I did wear makeup my skin broke out so bad! The most recent time I wore makeup my skin had some allergic reaction and I actually had to take benadryl to decrease swelling on my face. You should wear makeup because you want to. And if you don't want to wear it that should be okay too! I think it's sad that as soon as people who are used to seeing you a certain way all the time suddenly say "you look tired" when you don't wear makeup. That's how people used to treat me years ago when I consistently wore makeup then randomly didn't wear it. I've also seen over time that people tend to treat me better when I have on makeup. It's crazy how materialistic this world can be. Love yourself regardless if you choose to wear makeup or not. Don't let other people's perception of your beauty make you feel like you aren't good enough if you aren't meeting their standards. You're living for yourself and to make YOU happy! It took me 31 years to realize this and I wish I would've learned this sooner.
