Having a cabin in the forest is a never ending battle with maintenance. Every time you leave the forest tries to take back its land. You are fortunate to have all the equipment and the knowledge to keep up with the forest.

Many abandoned homes were people's, families dreams that have became broken dreams this says a lot about whats going on in America. Right, left, black, white, straight, gay and everything else you better unite cause they are coming for all of you. A people divided is easy to conquer but a people united here and around the world is a force to be reckoned with just keep and hold on to that thought.

When you live in places like this, or the Pacific Northwest where I live, you learn to listen for cracking of trees during storms. It happens, no matter how pretty they are, they can be dangerous. People who don't live in these places can't speak from experience. You live and learn. It's looking really good!

Trees also have a lifespan. When they've reached their end, they start dying. Too bad you don't have a sawmill where you can utilize your own trees to refurbish the place. The place looks great. You are doing good, hard work.

I love how it looks without the trees. You can grow hardwood trees later down the road. I say keep cutting until you're happy that the widow makers are gone. This is your property and you have a family to keep safe from old rotten trees. Don't listen to others and think about what's right for you and yours. 💖

You’re doing a phenomenal job. I live by myself in my house in Florida and there’s always something, always! I pride myself that I can do most of the small stuff but I just can’t do the big stuff anymore. The last thing I want to happen is for it to start falling apart. I noticed some of my facia when I was weed eating the other day it’s starting to droop like there might be something in there making a nest. yikes!

Just spent the morning getting "future problem trees". One of my maples next to the driveway had the core rotted out of it. And the one next to the house had a "V" in it, and the crack from the "V" had doubled in the last 7 years, so it had to go. But yeah, it is amazing how different a yard looks when you remove a few trees.

With the new high efficiency panels on the market today , we have installed panels in houses with alot more trees than this. Yes some will need to be cut down in the back, but all those trees? No.

I would lay brick or railroad ties where you plan to put gravel right next to the grassy area going down to the proposed boat ramp. Will help keep the gravel from spreading out. Will keep rocks out of the grass so you aren't shooting stones all over whenever you mow the grass. I dearly wish I had that house. I remember seeing videos before anything was done. I would be in paradise out there. Build a nice pier with a medium size platform to fish from and to tie a boat to when you don't want to take it out of the water yet. Just an overall gem of a property.

I respect what you are doing to clean up the property and maintaining the trees that you can. I don’t agree with all the negative comments about the trees that you are removing. There are reasons why you need to ignore what people with little knowledge about tree safety have to say. As an electrical employee we had to trim back trees in a neighborhood in order to keep the branches away from the power lines. The residents of the neighborhood raised a stink over having their trees cut back. The leadership and our engineers had to have a town hall meeting to convince people why the work had to be done with no avail. That spring we had an ice storm and most of the trees were lost due to ice weighing down on the limbs . Had we cut back the longer branches as intended most of the trees would have been saved from the ice storm and saved the neighborhood days of power outage.

Hello, I do understand busy !! gotta make hay while the sun shines we say around here :) you know...you don't have to have all the solar on the house! you can have your solar on a satellite station ! then run your cable(s) to the house. C can with all your tech in it and panels on the outside of it at a placement away from the house, self heated panels for snow clearing and a wind mill for back up during low light days. Seen them set up around here actually. just an idea... anyways... wish you and family all the best! Be well ! thanks for the vid.

You don’t have to put solar panels on the roof. You can clear some ground near the house, install your panels at or near ground level. Then run the cables to the cottage. That’ll save you from cutting so many trees down in front of the cottage.

Hi from New Zealand, where we also say Eh a lot. The people who sold the 'cottage' will be absolutely stoked at how their baby is again being showed some Love, and that must be gratifying cos they obv had shown the place the love it deserves. I trust you have got to know them, or have they commented here as you do your 'progress reports?' I hope the guys health has stabilised too, what a kick in the gut it musta been when they had the long soul search when Dad was initially diagnosed, and eventually reaching the awful conclusion was no doubt a real blow. On the bright side, Dad is still alive so thats something out of the wreck for him and his mrs id imagine. Dad, should by fluke you read my comment, this owner must be just what you hoped for in a successionist to the lovely hide away you and her got up and cracking. Skills to the pair of you, perhaps when its completed and rentable, you and the wifey might like to go stay for a month or so. One just never knows whats around the corner in this dear wee thing we call Life. God Bless to all involved.
