You know Terry, on Queens Birthday here in New Zealand, (round the same time as you in aussie) I took my Iron Duke out on the Ice map, and was rushed by a pair of Nicholas. Two main guns salvos and 13 secondary hits later, I stood with half of my health, and the colonel rebels had been banished to the bottom of the seas, followed a few minutes later by a t-22 also curiosity of me. HE for the win.

The British have arrived >:) Why is Australia celebrating the queens birthday (which is April 21st btw) in June lol. I love my British battleships I got Conqueror and I love her. 3:14 yea i killed full Heath destroyers with one salvo lol 5:28 "the repubulique at tier 8 the premium" talk about a full blown jingles moment. Terry the repubulique is tier 10 and is definitely not a premium lol 9:38 derp music activated

I've got to the KG V, but the Duke or Warspite is my go to ship for a quick giggle. I love the way that the Duke just obliterates a full health destroyer as it turns. A good flat trajectory. I don't do so well with KG V though. I've yet to learn how best to play that. Enjoy your holiday there today!

Thanks! The Agincourt is infamous for that at tier 5, I actually rush destroyers in that thing, just to one-shot them.

@@FunandGameswithTerry well my sleep rythm is preeeetty messed up atm.. because of corona i have really weird school days (i have school 2 or 3 days a week) so i sleep until 11 the one day but next one i'd need to stand up at 6 AM.. that doesnt work tho lol so i just decided that i will sleep very long every second day and then just stay up the entire night so i dont miss the 90 min of school a day.. ik this sounds stupid (which it is) but it works lol Edit: Dont let your kids do that 😅

I was late with uploading this one, so while I was rendering, I ran some thumbnail ideas by my discord, and chat mentioned the "colonize" meme on WOWS PC, but we couldn't find a good one on the quick, so I ended up making this.

I got the Duke of York, T7 premium smoke BB, in a crate, and it's not my play, so I'm hoping this video helps. I'm generally too aggressive with my BBs.

I'm enjoying the line so far, Orion was a tad OP, Duke feels rather balanced. I'm rather excited to see what the bigger guns can do :)

@@FunandGameswithTerry in the PC version, from KGV they say we got play them more like battlecruisers . I don't know how it's on the Blitz version. But, KGV's rear armour seemed weak in yesterday's battle. I hit a double citadel on her with Colorado

AX PETER If you know how to play cruiser you will surely get good at this. The only things these things doesn’t have in cruisers is speed and maneuverability, but otherwise everything else is nearly the same, only better.

Fun and games with Terry You will love QE’s AP shells, especially at mid-close range expect to make full pens and even citadels, but her AP is still not as competitive as the other tier 6 battleships, but otherwise adequate.

I'm up to T9 Lion. T7 KGV is REALLY great though I'm just so so on Monarch t8 & lion... Overall I feel RN BBs are very similar in play to USN BBs...

I still have a lot of experimenting to do with AP at different ranges. Especially in mid-tiers, you find a lot of very thinly armoured CAs that can be overpenetrated quite a bit, so a weak-pen AP might actually work well to score citadels (I haven't yet seen an HE citadel with the Duke, but scored a couple with Orion)

@@FunandGameswithTerry I play USN BBs alot. If match starts with 2 or more enemy DDs I start w/HE. If it's not a DD fest I go AP & start looking for the BBs & big CAs to clobber. WV & NC are particularly good for this.

At least in the Colorado, I stick with AP at the opening stages. Reason being, she's not fast enough to get into effective range for DDs, and her AP is relatively weak at range, so I've got a fair chance of scoring a full pen if I decide to shoot at DDs at 10km (provided I can hit anything at that range). NC might be a completely different beast.

@Fun and games with Terry I just tried this in my KGV. What I did, is that, when I loaded HE, next salvo I switch to AP, and vice-versa; what I did is switch shell types salvo after salvo, no delays. Worked pretty well, relying much on HE is not a reliable tactic. Don’t expect so much damage if you use only your HE, even if the HE is superbly powerful, it’s still just HE.

Premium ships earn XP and free XP. You can convert their XP into free XP using gold, and then use that in the tech tree, but it's rather expensive. I usually only use gold for historical camos and ship slots.

ok, let me elaborate that mechanic a bit. Every ship (tech tree, collector's or premium), once it's fully upgraded with blueprints, gains "elite" status, which means you can pick the elite bonus. For tech tree ships, the XP gained (elite or not) counts towards unlocking the next tier. You can also use "free XP" to unlock tiers. You gain free XP by simply playing the game (albeit at a much lower rate than regular XP), or you can "convert" XP gathered on elite ships into free XP using gold. There are other uses for free XP than just unlocking tiers, you can also level up your captains, the Nelson can be bought for free XP, and the legendary modules introduced in the last update as well. I personally don't use gold for free XP, since it's quite expensive, and I can just get there by playing, but that's how it works.

I'm pretty sure that König wasn't actually thankfull, instead he blamed you for a killsteal hence him shooting you afterwards. Childish behaviour really. Thanks for the vid Terry, great synopsis on the British BBs!

Not sure, we were in a division and they asked for assistance. My personal rules of engagement wrt killstealing is that I don't take a killshot on a target I haven't previously engaged, that is also actively engaged by a teammate, unless a teammate is in dire needs, or it's the last enemy alive in a clear win (i.e. 5 or more of my team are still alive).

Ok, their HE (bbs) are annoying and very effective fire starter, but what about their AP performance ?

I've tried a couple of salvos with AP, but unless I'm shooting at a light cruiser at close range, the HE does a good job so far. We'll have to see how that goes in higher tiers, but I've managed to score citadels against BBs with Orion's HE at close range, so the penetration is definitely there

AP is good overall BUT some like Warspite, Monarch, Hood have VERY GOOD AP. But Nelson I just use HE as AP is disappointing 😢

I love the British BB line so far. I’m surprised how much fun it is starting fires all over the place & hammering DDs particularly. With the Queen E & King George, I keep up the HE until all DDs & most of the cruisers are gone or out of the way on the map, then switch over to AP for BBs. These ships really are giant flamethrowers mounted on hulls.

weird thing that they made british lines so different ....cruisers have AP only and BBs rely on HE ! does this have any historical reason ?....i doubt it QE and KG5 were so disappointing i stopped pushing this line

I don't know, actually - will have to dig around a bit if I can find anything, but it might be just a peculiarity in-game to give the lines some distinct features. E.g. on PC, German HE is pretty good, whereas here it's terrible.

I tried the british line. Kinda cool to see those nasty fires but its playstyle just seems boring. Also, you will almost never do heavy single blows something other battleships can do that, these battleships cant do that.

Terry Gday mate. Another great video, thank you. Can you please review King George V when you get a chance? Particularly how to get the best out of the 2x4 + 1x2 14” guns. ( apparently IRL the class was originally planned for 3 x 3 15” guns and 1931 build, but 1920 and then 1930 treaty’s limited to 14” and delayed build start till 1937. Apparently 3x4 14” would put it slightly over the displacement limits and 3 x 3 14” was considered too light a broadside, see Drach kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bJOhjJCBp5u-ZY0.html ). In blitz if you loose a x4 turret it really hurts to loose 40% of fire power overall or 64% if nose in. IRL KGV armour was world class. In Blitz there is a weird weak Torpedo damage reduction. Nerf? The net effect means for equipment slot 3 you have to choose between. main battery survivablity, torp damage reduction, and the good ship traverse speed boost, all of which you want. I can’t wait to see what you decide.

Definitely, I'll be grinding up the line - Queen Elizabeth next, but I'm curious about the KGV, have seen her do great things. The British had some trouble with bigger guns, since they didn't have much in terms of manufacture AFAIR. I love Drachinifel's vids.

ONLY British bbs get the he main shells. Don't be fooled though, his goesnt mean you should only use he. AP at range in British BB is good.
