In this day and age nobody will be writing a motivation letter with a pen lol so obviously it has to be typed. You can sign it electronically or manually. All the best. Nuel

Some programmes may specify the format of their motivation letter, so in that case, it makes sense and logical to follow the specifications and guidelines outlined. Best regards. Nuel

Thanks so much for your detailed information on writing rebost motivation letter. I have gethed all I need to write the motivation letter, but my course masters in Sustainable Product creation, did not require motivation letter, they asked for a page of cover letter, detailed CV and letters of recommendation as an added option. Pls do I go ahead to add the motivation letter to add value to the application. Thanks for your good works.

A cover letter is usually used to gauge an applicant's skills, experience and background. It is more commonly used in job applications. It could also serve the same purpose as a motivation letter. From an academic point of view and concerning this admission, you still have to show the reason or motivation for choosing this course, so whatever title you call it, the content matters. So, a cover letter or motivation letter still writes and explains the reason for choosing the master's programme. All the best Nuel (I'm the human investor)

This is entirely up to you. As long as your meet the primary requirement in terms of certificate which is bachelors degree certificate anything else addition you wish to add or not is entirely up to you. Regards Nuel

Hi Nuel, impactful information. I am still in the process of admission to the Master in Molecular and Computational Biomedicine, In this video, you mentioned how basic computer programming languages would be a good skill set in this field. I do not have basic bioinformatics skills, but I have attended conferences and acquired training in genomics (Primer design, cDNA synthesis, PCR, Nucleic Acid extraction, sequence analysis, etc ) I can confidently defend this and fit it into my essay. I just have self-doubt as I know candidates would be highly competitive having both programming backgrounds. Is there an acceptance chance for me?

Doubt solve nothing. Programming skills are not the only relevant skills, hence whatever skills that you acquired which you believe will enhance your chances you need to add them. When I applied for that master's degree programme then it was known as Integrated systems biology, there were only 16 spaces but I was not deterred by that, I just took my time and produced a robust application with a strong motivation letter. So focus your energy on what you can control and worry less about what you can't control. All the best. Nuel.

Hi, I just checked the website now, and it seems that they changed the name from Integrated System Biology to Master in Molecular and Computational Biomedicine. This should be difficult to deal with. If the application process says two letters of recommendation or references, logically, it means two letters from two different referees. Provide exactly what is stated. Regards Nuel.

How would you like me to reply on the word count for your motivation letter? How? I replied that most of the time, they will specify the number of pages depending on the programme you are applying for, and if it is not specified, then use your discretion and write your motivation letter. I cannot manufacture a word count that does not exist. You can also go ahead and write to the programme coordinator. To the best of my knowledge, I tried my best to provide vital information for my subscribers and others. Hence, my initial response was reasonable and logical. Regards Nuel.

Hello Nuel, thanks for all you are doing for us. I jave some few questions though, 1. Can i apply for the masters program using my statement of result ad i dont have a certificate yet? 2. The transcript that i have, is an unofficial transcript,cab i apply with that too??? 3. I read on the website that we are to pay an application fee with a credit card. Most of the cards we use here in Nigeria is a debit card, can i use a masters card to make the payment??? 4. Hi, (1) and (2). As an international student, you should have your certificate and transcripts ready before starting the online application. So, I will advise you to get your official transcripts from your school and your graduation certificate. Nevertheless, please email the University of Luxembourg admission office (SEVE) to ask if that is acceptable. But in my view, get all your documents in the proper form (3). You'll need to pay the application fee online if applicable, regardless of the card type; what's important is whether your card is enabled for international payment. Please contact your local bank for that. 4. Generally, you should not apply for a visa with a passport less than 6 months before the expiration date, so it may be wise to renew your passport. Usually you should apply for a course where you have the necessary background, bachelors degree certificate is usually the primary degree of consideration for masters degree application. However, with your masters there may be a connection but bear in mind that the number of years for Bachelors is not the same for masters. Nevertheless, it worth giving a try. All the best. Nuel

The motivation statement centered on providing an adequate explanation of why you chose to study a particular programme logically and coherently. How you structure it is up to you, but those critical elements should be included in your letter. Regards Nuel.

Usually, a PhD is a continuous process that differs from other regular applications. You can apply for the advertised PhD position or as a self-paying applicant. If you are applying as a self-paying applicant, you should find a potential supervisor before applying.
