Hey Andrew - glad to see you back with some new reviews. Will keep this one in mind. I have two houses - I removed the Arlo wireless from the one house in AZ and made them WIRED for my MN house. My AZ house has DLINKs and I HATE THEM. The only good thing is they are PTZ ... which I like - but you just can't count on these and the app takes FOREVER to bring up an image. MIGHT try these Wyze next season when we go back for the winter. BTW, cute kid!! Thanks for sharing!

Excellent video. We have Arlo cameras...which we are returning tomorrow. I haven't found too many negative reviews of the Wyze cameras. More than likely we will try those around our home.

I just don't understand how people are getting electricity to these outside locations... where/how are you running a power line? The included cord is only 6 foot after all.

Great tutorial & Review, I've have purchased 3 from Amazon and shipped from the US to UK. I have all 3 running flawlessly with Action tiles (Thanks Taylor). However, UK buyers beware they don't not support Alexa here the UK yet. Wyze currently don't have any international servers yet so need to address that before they can offer Alexa support in Europe. Hopefully they can fix that soon!

Thank you for a great video. It was very informative. You mentioned a few things that most reviews don't mention. I did not know what the usb port on back is used for, I didn't even see info on the Wyze website for that. I also did not know you can set a detection zone. That will save me from dozens of false hits every day.

TaylorTech is your pan still showing up on your fire tablet? My pan won’t come up on my Show but my regular Wyze v2 comes up fine on the Echo show. Same issue on fire tv. I’ve read they have had an issue since November with it showing up on the amazon devices.

Can you set it on a network without access to the internet? Basically connect it to a network at a remote site and have it record motion/events, then come back later and check to see what happened?

I did the same with Google Home. That send to my Tv via my Chromecast. Picture is nice but 12 sec delay between actual movement and the moment and the mouvement you see on the Tv.

@@devanshannon yup it does work pretty awesome , i can have it switch on my TV through CEC too but if the TV is off and i say "alexa,show me the front door" the TV will switch on and it will go to the fire TV input but it does not pull the stream , i have to ask it a second time for it to pull up the stream , i think if the TV is on another input and i ask or if i am using the fire stick and i ask it it will go to the stream and i only have to ask it once , it would be more impressive if it could pull the stream when i ask it and the TV is off without me having to repeat the request

So, if you have 4 cameras on your system, does that mean you have wires going from one to the other? That's a lot of wire to connect all the cameras!. Or are they each just plugged in to 110 outlets??

Will they display on your smartphone with the Alexa app? I have no Fire devices. People are charging between $120-$160 for those WyzeCam Pan cameras here in Australia, and $90 for a WyzeCam v2. Crazy.

I bought both Echo show and Wyze for this purpose; unfortunately it's not working. Echo Show just always says "hmmm, the camera isn't responding". I already did everything should do, but to no avail. Reset, Power Cycle, Factory Reset, disable/enable alexa skill, remove delete, reinstall.. made sure in same network; none of these works. Its frustrating. I searched and I am not alone. There's a lot of us who had same problem. I hope a fix comes very soon; probably firmware update.

Range isn't the best. I added a second older router dedicated to outside stuff 2.4ghz only. I put it right on the inside of the concrete block wall and have no issues with cameras 60 ft away. Could probably go further

If you turn your tablet vertical, you should see the pan controls, also my night vision works through windows on 2 wyze cameras. Inside light reflection can hinder video quality.

I have tried out Yi 1080p home, Reolink argus 2 to watch my drive way. The result are disappointing. Bug, sunshine reflection, rain drop and tree twig swing cause false alert. I cannot tell those event from intruder's car. Do you experience same behavior using wyze? Thanks.

Wyze does have a lot of false alarms as well. It offers a scale from 0-100 of sensitivity, though. So that should help a bit.

Drew, I was thinking that perhaps I could mount a camera where there is no power available and connect it to a USB power bank. How long do you think a power bank would run a camera before the bank needs to be recharged?

6000mAh power bank on a camera recording 24/7 lasts about 10 hours. Motion recording only with not too muxh activity can last up to 24 hrs.

Got it thanks! FYI yours was the only video I reviewed that specifically mentioned that the camera needed a "permanent" power source. Do you also know if I have it connected to an Alexa Dot or Echo etc if it will eventually be smart enough to give me a voice alert to tell me which door / window was opened using the WYZE sensors ? Wyze cam pan and wyze cam v2 are the only ones that work. The v1 does not work with Alexa.

TaylorTech I could try that, but the problem I’m running into is the Samsung login. It kicks you out to browser login and their page rejects Silk Browser. Telling the tablet to default to chrome doesn’t fix it either.

It looks like it works in Australia from my breif research. The only issue is getting them. They don't ship there. I know Amazon recently launched, so check Amazon? Or you may have to find someone here in the states to ship them over to you.

Would these work with Fully Kiosk? Instead of having Dakboards load its picture screen saver have the camera(s) video fee load instead.

That should work! If you setup TinyCam pro as a web server and use that IP address as the URL for the screensaver.

EDIT: had a really frustrating time getting this to connect to my network turns out my SSID has hidden space at the end of it this camera didn't like that ,funny that i could enter the SSID into all my other clients without the space at the end and it worked ,i ended removing the space at the end from the SSID but then i had to reconfigure a shit ton of other smart home client devices , also was not having any luck getting Rpi's to connect to my network before i think this may solve those issues too hopefully

Since no one should ever have the manufacturer's SSID in your network, then most likely you typed in the empty space when you keyed it in. Yes, good coding practice should strip off any empty blanks but, evidently, this is not the case here.

I bought 2 wyze cameras and they don’t have the set up thing to push on the back of it. And no slot for card! Does this mean they are not the v2 version? And my new fire hd 10 tablet doesn’t have the wyze cam app? Help!?

@@TaylorTech You might have to pop the grey bar down. The bar is like a mounting bracket and the reset button and card slot are hidden by it when it is in the folded up state. (I just figured this out last night with mine!).

As a bonus, Wyze links with IFTTT so you can use it to interact with Hubitat or Smartthings as a virtual motion sensor!

I tried using IFTTT integration for the ring flood light and found that using the virtual switch it would take up to 5 to 10 minutes to trigger a Webcore piston. I found that Stringify would actually fire almost instantaneously in comparison. Maybe SmartThings will integrate it?? LOL yeah right

Robert Figueroa I use IFTTT with Hubitat (sans webcore) and Ring/Arlo/Wyze and usually only experience a 3 to 5 second delay. Not having to go through Samsung saves so much time.

hubitat? never heard of it, what is it? also what is the final verdict , i have my front porch lights on GE zwave integrated to ST so if i get this for the front porch then what is the best way to use it as a motion sensor to turn on the light? will the wyze show up in stringify as a trigger so that i can just use a stringify flow with wyze as sensor as the trigger or do i need to set up anything else like in ST? can i just use wyze and stringify?

You can just use wyze and stringify, as long as your smartthings account is linked to stringify. You'd just set up a flow to turn lights on when WyzeCam detects motion.

HelenBorrieRIP try pushing 0 button on tablet when alexa opens say “ show what ever you named camera” I got mine working on versions 5, 7 and 8. Just remember to use exactly the name you called it.

I would imagine you need the skill in order for the Alexa app to recognize the cams.

I use a weatherproof box connected to an extension cord, which is connected to a in use weatherproof outlet box.

15:45 so this works for fire tablets without the new Alexa show capabilities? you mentioned fire 7 and as far as i know no fire 7's support the new Alexa show capabilities if it only works with the new Alexa show capabilities compatible tablets and FW then how does your 6th gen fire HD 8 not have hands free Alexa but still has the Alexa show capabilities ? the show capability is brand new the hands free Alexa is like a year old feature. AFAIK only fire HD 8 and fire HD10 support Alexa show

It doesn't need to support show mode. Only hands free Alexa like in the video. My Fire 7 does also work, I'm not sure which gen it is, but it does support hands free.

Wow that's great i figured it would need to use show mode for that I'm really surprised by this, i doubt my 2015 fire 7's could do it though besides they are rooted with custom roms , but i got a fire HD 10 on prime day i have not setup yet(i plan to root and get xposed with fire OS) that is what got me interested in this cam since they just added show mode with latest FW to the fire HD 8 and 10, the only thing that even interests me about show mode is the ability to active the cam by voice , and now i find out it is not even a show mode feature, just a feature of the echo show ,really surprising i wonder if there also is a way to set it up to get a GH mini to show me the cam on my mi box 3 , or even a CC

I know you said it does not support the Fire TV so I'm assuming it does not support the Fire TV Cube correct?

I believe it supports firetv, and firetv 4k, but not the fire stick. So it may work with the cube.

I have tried it on Fire Tv stick and it will respond but just times out.It will never show the camera. I am looking for a fix. Any suggestions

The STICK is not supported, but the FireTV box is.

13:45 the Alexa section begins. Unfortunately, he doesn't show or talk about Alexa's best integration, and thats the TV integration, because no Wyze apps exist on other TVs like Ruku TV ect. Thus making this function unique. Using Alexia apps over the Wyze App for tablet/phone viewing is dumb.

Wyze: Where is the ability to use a Google Home smart speaker with your cameras? It would be useful if you offered a matte black body for the camera rather than white. This is because white is so obvious whereas black would hide.

I agree with the color, not sure what you want a security camera to do when using a voice assistant though, it's not like google smart speaker can show you what is going on, but it's a option with Alexa. Amazon's Fire TV and Amazons Echo show lets you see what's going on, and that uses Alexa too.

Jeff, well, first of all not everyone has an Alexa smart speaker, many of us have one or more Google Home smart speakers. The app from Wyze unrealistically presumes a person will always have their cell phone with them to be able to be notified and also to react to an event. By also supporting a Google Home smart speaker system, one or all of the speakers could notify a home owner that something was going on. The home owner would also be able to hear the sound event and react to it by speaking a response - just like the phone app can do. BTW, it is now possible to network all of the Google Home smart speakers in a home so they work together. It would be very cool if Wyze could figure out a way to display the video alert message on my TV sets if a Google Chromecast dongle was plugged in.

@@AtlantaTerry "first of all", really? Why so stand offish? I'm not going to knock the google home system, I've had it, has it's pros and cons, (mostly cons) however, the same can be said about the Alexa one (just less cons). Had them both, and found neither of them very practical. I found that they did absolutely nothing that I couldn't do myself, but that's just me. Really couldn't find 1 thing that made me want to continue using either. I'm sure that both have improved, not sure how much, since I haven't used either of them myself since February or March. Disconnected Alexa to try google, after 2 months I stopped using that as well. I for one don't understand the need for integration of Alexa or Google speakers. Assuming I got a alert on either of them, I would be home and would already be aware of the situation before the alert came through, wouldn't I? The assumption that a person has their phone on them all the time, honestly is a safe assumption. Most, not all, but most people do. That's just a fact. Look around, most people nowadays look lost without their phone. However, I don't. But my Garmin watch tells me any alerts, text messages, even lets me know when I have a phone call, etc.. and if I choose I go and get my phone. But that's just me.
