I had this problem after fixing a bumper button issue...I forgot about till it started doing it again two days ago after forgetting it out in the sun. Watching this just jolted my memory, cheers for the video!

This was exactly my problem and you described it perfectly. Thanks for putting this up; I never would have seen that little pad or figured out how to get it back on. I used a little bit of isopropyl alcohol to clean the Plastic and the pad and that eliminated the stickiness entirely. Thanks again buddy!!

Before people try and disassemble their controller and potential ruin it, you can fold a thin piece of paper in half and slide it down the side of the trigger to dislodge this sticky tab. This worked for me and I haven’t had a problem since.

Thanks man. Fixed mine today with your information. Not sure if it was mentioned in the video but don't forget to take a cotton swab and some running alcohol and clean off any adhesive build up in the foam pad and on the rear casing where it makes contact.

To me the Series2 is more lasting, the Series1 broke twice on the RB twice and fixed twice by Microsoft. It never fell on the ground, never launched it in the air or anything, just by the touch of the hand after a while the plastic would just break...

Excellent, thanks for the video man. I'd tried quick fixes which helped a little but this solution solved the problem completely. It's just a shame you need a specialist screwdriver to get back there.

So this issue just happened to me today and after seeing this video I'm relieved that it wasn't that of a major electrical issue. If it's that pad getting dislodged from its place and its sole purpose is to just make the buttons silent, I think I can live with that (and hope it also happens to my left trigger to make it equal) So anyway, thanks for this video!

Had mine since launch and this abruptly starting happening back in June for me. I've been trying the vibration spam fix in the accessories settings for a good 10-15 mins now with no improvement. I think I'm going to have to crack my controller open to clean out the adhesive gunk causing this. Its way past warranty anyway. Super sad problem to have for an otherwise very impressive controller... Thanks for the video!

To take it apart, all you really need is a prying kit (can get a cheap one in amazon for $10 or less) and a T8 screwdriver. Just pry it open, the top shell comes off, then remove the six T8 screws (one of them is hidden under a white circle sticker), then that allows you to remove the back shell and access the part where the sticky cushion pad is.

I fixed this issue (in less than 3 minutes) on my controller without taking it apart. I got a long loose piece of cotton (like found in a pill bottle) and worked some of it down (not all of it you need to pull it out) into the body of the controller, with a tooth pick, along the trigger (while holding the trigger down) where the sticky tab is (this would be the bottom outer side of the trigger). I then released the trigger and tested if it was sticking and moved the cotton until it wasn't. Once it wasn't sticking I released the trigger and then slowly pulled the cotton out (to leave some fibers behind on the sticky bits) and tested. It was still sticking a little so I repeated this process a second time and low an behold my trigger is fixed (well not sticking). Hopefully this helps people not void their warranty!
@andyhoffman95174 жыл бұрын
That worked no disassembly and no more sticky . Just some cotton down the back outer side of the trigger.Hold the trigger down.Work cotton down with toothpick. Hit the trigger few times to get cotton suck on sticky pad area, hold down trigger pull out cotton thank you sappy0001
@taylormay99383 жыл бұрын
I have been messing around with a similar method before actually seeing the internals. Now that I know where the pad is, I'm about to try this method myself.
@taylormay99383 жыл бұрын
Success with a napkin and toothpick! For me, the "back outer" area of trigger didn't work fit me. If you look at 1:17 in this video and use the location of the pad for reference, that helps. Mine was corrected after inserting roughly middle of the way between the two creases in the case and following the above methods. Thanks guys!

I was able to get rid of even more of the stickiness by cleaning the contact surface for the pad on the outer shell, a tiny amount of adhesive had transferred there.
@paulanderegg55362 жыл бұрын
I just did the same...used a toothpick and put a lens cleaning wipey over it and scrubbed the area where the pad touches, rubbed it real good, sticky is gone and silent like new :). Taking apart the case to do this did make my controller go from out of the box new mint to scraped and trashed though :(

My left trigger kept getting stuck, I removed the pads and still had the issue. I ended up just sanding down the bottom side of the chassis with 400 grit sandpaper on the left side. I think the problem is the chassis is to tight every time I screwed the board back on the issue would reappear. When sanding it down careful not to sand down the trigger sensitivity mechanism.

Anyone know where to buy replacement for the rubber pad? Or something to buy than cut the same size. I have ordered a 1mm foam pad from Amazon for now.. will see how it compares to the stock pad on my other trigger. I got rid of the stickiness by cleaning everything near or that makes contact with it using a q-tip and alcohol.
@GG24-c1u3 жыл бұрын
To FULLY remove the sticky noise I cut the edges of the top on the cushion pad and then filed it a bit so that the edges are smooth and now there's zero noise or stickiness. If you imagine the cushion pad to be a cube, the "top" I'm talking about is the side that's facing up and that has a thin layer of hard black paper. Thanks!

My left trigger making noise when I test the vibration my right one sounds good but my left one sound bad, is it because of that or something else?

Did you clean anything on the bottom frame? If so, mind explaining where you cleaned? I just cleaned the sticky pads off of both sides, but still having trouble with the right trigger sticking while in the default position. I'm wondering if there's still some adhesive on the bottom frame, just can't quite locate where it might be.
@McGorm144 жыл бұрын
I didn't actually clean mine like others have and after a month it went away. So not sure what else it could be if you have already cleaned the area sorry
@colegrieshaber1294 жыл бұрын
@@McGorm14 I figured it out, you have to clean the little piece of plastic that the squares rest on before pulling the trigger. It's somewhere at the bottom of the frame, almost like a little plastic wall that stops the squares. I cleaned both sides and the triggers work perfectly now with a little bit of noise, but I'd rather that than the stick. Your video was extremely helpful, thanks so much.

just happened to me to my 3rd unit, from amazon, it hapen on the first unit, and it "fixed itself" no stickiness but the noise... the noise of the trigger made me request a replacement to amazon, then the 2nd unite had an horrible noise in the sticks, like plastic when moving it,,, then the 3rd unit was ok, but today i wanted to replay rdr2 campaign and u guess what... the stickines came back in the same trigger!!!!!!! have you being playing with short trigger mode to cod maybe? ... i think the culprit is the short trigger mode.. if you stuck the trigger and blow air,, (place it on the top of your pc if it have fans there..) and the stickinies will disapear, for a time at least...

Not sure, could be a cable issue or the little button that the trigger hits when you press it in could be broken.
