Just got mine. Now I have a Pro, an X and a Switch. Life is beautiful.

I'm still loving this console in 2022. It's just great console. End of story.

People comment on how much they hate the other console more than actually play their own.

Great review. I personally don’t care how the One X does in comparison to the Pro. All that I care about is that it’s a lot better then my original Xbox One!

I'm impressed with the technology in One X. It really is a powerful machine. The Games Library on the other hand needs an improvement. Edit : Those stating that the games library is not in need of improvement... don't be a fanboy for once. We need to face the truth that when it comes to the library of games, Xbox is lacking as opposed to competitors. They need exclusives so that there's competition. This part is very important. Competition is GOOD for all consumers. Remember that.

Honestly, this review was easily the best I’ve seen. Littered with actual information like performance and power consumption as well as a personal spin on an overall opinion. The Polygon/IGN etc reviews are comparatively terrible, just people rambling about if things look prettier and why it sucks because it doesn’t do their washing up.

I brought an Xbox One X back in 2017 with a separate 4TB hardrive. It’s a very great console and games looks really good on a 4K TV. On top of that, I brought an Xbox Elite V2 controller last year (2019). 😁

Xbox one X is the black sheep of the Xbox family. The hero no one wanted but the hero Microsoft needed. . I would love to see a new video on it! "How last gen is last gen?" Comparing it to the series X or something.. You guys make fantastic content that makes me enjoy tech even more!

It's hard to get that excited about a console for the 'hardcore' that will only hold around seven to ten major games before the hard drive is full. Delete/install juggling hell if you're going disc based and even worse if you want to go mainly digital with those 80-100 plus gb file sizes.

Richard do you get color banding on LG C7 in the dash board? Also are your blacks elevated on 4K Blu-ray? Something is not right. I don’t have this issue on PC, PS4 Pro, or UHD Panasonic blue ray player using the same display.

DigitalFoundry Could you please tell me, if there are really problems with ghosting or loading textures on xbox x (assassins creed origins)? Are the problems also relevant on FullHD-TVs? Thanks for the great video!

I have a couple of questions to help my console setup. Mainly to do with placement. I have my console placed in a tv unit like what was used in the video, there is no back to it so the air is hitting right against the plasterboard wall (theres about 6-7 inches of space between). It can feel quite warm to the touch, but not enough to burn you. Is this safe or can it be considered a fire hazard? Also, for the unit placement, I did place it in the middle shelf but took the told shelf off to allow for more airflow. However, I can hear the air from the back quite a bit in a quiet room (about 6 feet away). I'm thinking about putting the shelf back on top to block off sound. I know there's no air intake on top but could this affect the air getting in to the side vents? (Leftover room with shelf placed on top from middle shelf floor is a little over two xone x's stacked on top of each other and side vents have about 3 inches of space).

I wish they would left games run at a native 2k, 60fps and better visual quality rather than just dump everything focusing on resolution

Love how people get angry I've a plastic box buy what you wana buy I have all 3 consoles and a pc it's down to what you want to play. Switch and a ps4 or Xbox combo can't go wrong if you have a PC then why even buy a ps4 or Xbox one

Sony did a terrible job this gen with removing heat. Probably because of the 360 red ring disaster Microsoft really went all out with their heat sinks.

You all do realize 3rd party games sell more on both consoles compared to those exclusives?...

They should release a transparent case model later down the line to visually sell how powerful it is because the insides actually do look fancy and cool.

Would the power consumption be lower if u played less demanding games like say Super Lucky's tale and Ori 2? Really curious on that would love any techhead's opinion on it thanks!

For $499, sure, great value. Powerful console for sure. Great design. The one Achilles Heal of this and the PS4 Pro? Games that run at 30fps max. All of my multiplats will still be on PC because of this. 30fps is just garbage. The least MS and Sony could do is make a 60fps mode selectable for EVERY single game on the system. Use adaptive resolutions, do whatever you have to do to keep a solid, locked, never dipping 60fps on this mode. This, imo, is MUCH more important than resolution in every single case. The option to choose, at the least should be there for us to decide for ourselves. Then make a "high fidelity" graphics mode that can run high resolutions at 30fps for people that can stomach that terribleness... I would rather play at 720p upscaled at 60fps than 4k at 30fps, not even kidding one bit. (luckily my 6700k/1080TI PC can handle 95% of games on the market at 4k/60fps, so I get the best of both worlds, but... still... :-)

Good Day Richard, I wanted to ask if you can do a Freesync/Adaptive Sync Analysis for the Xbox One X Using the titles from the Microsoft store that says "VRR/Variable Refresh Rate" on it and I know the 2 new Disney titles feature all XB1X capabilities and I'm curious about the 1440p monitor compatibility for XB1X also. try it and lets see if the screen tearing really does disappear, Rush: A Disney Pixar adventure is riddled with it on the original XB1. Plus those titles are playanywhere so you can compare PC with Native Freesync support. Hope to see it up soon mate cheers.

Glad to hear the console lives up to Microsofts promises, and more. Really a step in the right direction for the brand hardware, now we just need the software to back it up. And I trust Microsoft will deliver.

I remember the good old days when multiplats would look entirely different dependant on hardware, with mashed textures, missing lighting and technical effects, or almost unrecognisable geometry. These days we need to zoom in on indiscriminate backgrounds details and jump back and forth between shots to understand where all the additional computing power goes. Just goes to show being the most powerful now means very little, at last resting all the importance on the games...... I'd still take PC and a switch over PS4 + XBOX.

It would be great if you could do a future video about the best external storage for the Xbox One X and PS4 Pro. It would seem that the performance demands on the HDD are much higher given the new 4K assets. But 1TB is so small. It would be nice to know what external storage options can match or exceed the performance of the internal HDD so that I can expand my storage but also maintain peak performance.

Please test mass effect 1 on this. I'm wondering if pop in textures are remedied as this was quite bad on the 360. Thanks.

Unfortunately mainstream media dismisses this as being too expensive yet when you consider the hardware - not just the powerful GPU,12 GB GDDR5 memory and bespoke cooling solution but also the 4K HDR Blu-Ray player, alongside other things like the controller, warranty, integrated PSU, CPU etc. and the extremely small form factor and you've got a machine that showcases why consoles exist: insane value for money that even the best PC builders couldn't come close to for price to performance, along with the convenience and ease of use. Oh and did I mention backwards compatibility? I mean, in the UK at least the standard Xbox One on launch (with Kinect) was £450. This thing is selling for £1 less WITH A GAME in some cases. Let that sink in for a minute. Pricing isn't the problem, people's expectations are.
