I had been looking forward to a weather forcast like the one I had for this wild camp. It practically rained the whole time I was in those beautiful woodlands, just letting the sun through once before continuing the onslaught of wet weather.
There was only one tent that sprang to mind for use in these conditions ...The Dutch army tent! This shall truly put it to the test, if its ever going to leak it shall be on this overnighter! 😊
The beautiful poem written for me by the very talented Mr. Frank Stuckless ( aka fgs_the_muse )
Here's a link to his instagram account
...
The mini parafin burner for the UCO candle lantern (wow the price of these has shot up)
www.amazon.co....
I really appreciate you watching, it really is great to have you join me on these wild camps. Here's wishing you all the very best that life has to offer.

I'm an old fart of 70 now, but still do the very same things which lighten your soul.. . . The love of nature will never leave you as the years go by chap. It will always feed your spirit. First time watching your videos. Cold and frosty morning here in southern Indiana. Your laid back rainy camp out made me so sleepy.😊 It is awesome being retired and having sweet folks like you to keep me company since I am 71 now and old body will not let me camp on the ground any more. So I make a fire in the yard and snuggle back in my comfy bed for the night. Thank you for your relaxing video. God bless you.

Hi Patricia, wow southern Indiana such a beautiful part of the world to live👍🏻 Thank you very much, yes it's so relaxing listening to the pitter patter of rainfall on a tarp or tent isn't it, awesome to hear you enjoyed watching 🌧🌧🌳🌳👍🏻😊👍🏻🌳🌳🌧🌧 It's a real pleasure to know I kept you company, and to hear you enjoy a campfire in your yard but no longer camp shows that you are connected with mother nature, awesome memories and the great outdoors.👍🏻😊🌳🌳 Thank you for your watching and your wonderful words Patricia, it really does mean a lot to me 🤗 Here's wishing you all the very best, take care God bless you too 🌳🌳🌳🕊🌳🌳🌳 Mike

I agree with everything you are saying ! My husband nd I love being out in nature as well . There isn’t anything more freeing than being out in nature!we also were living in the city and grew very tired of that as well . We now live in the country but still long to retire so that we can go camping full time ! I can’t wait to get out of this rat race and enjoy this beautiful world that our God created for us. I hope that you get to break free pretty soon too ! It’s a blessing to see someone that loves nature the way my husband and myself do . I agree with what you said there isn’t anything in this world like it !

@@xCodeView Thanks Mike ! The Dutch Army Tent is a GRAND design with some possible quality control issues. It`s definitely "a keeper" ! It "looks GOOD on you." Before I`d try all those water-proofing techniques, I`d get an ((oversize)) tarp of "rain fly material," some paracording & a few more stakes, then rig it drum-tight over that fine tent. Your "leak problem" should be SOLVED !! With all the trees & branches around you there in the lovely English countryside, you may not even need extra stakes. A big strong fella like you won`t notice a few more pounds...Anyhoo, you`re "livin the life" my friend---pinch yourself ! Happy Trails.

I was born in Bromsgrove, but moved down here to Brighton 22 years ago. I used to build lean to shelters and stuff with my kids, usually in the Randan woods in Dodford not too far from Bromsgrove. We loved Stourport Common, Waseley Hills, the Lickey Hills, the Clent Hills, the Malvern Hills and Cannock Chase and mooching along the Birmingham to Worcester canal! You're spot on by the way, we're born into slavery, work until we're too old to be much use, then put out to graze, and hopefully for the masters, die before we use up too much of the pension we've paid in over fifty years or so! I'm hopefully, a bit different to the run of the mill pensioner { I'm 71 now } I've done lots of camping and living off the land when I was younger, including the Spanish Alpujarras mountains, and intend to do my own thing in my own way even now! My kids say 'dad, you've got to slow down, you're in your seventies not your twenties' ! Who wants to grow old gracefully? not me, growing old disgracefully is the way to go as far as I'm concerned! A while ago I was driving home from a solo, overnight fishing trip to Hayling Island and saw a lad around 18 / 20 maybe, thumbing in the rain, so I stopped and picked him up because his sign said 'Worthing' and I was going through there anyway! He never said much after he'd thanked me, but a few minutes later he piped up with 'you shouldn't really pick up hitchikers, what if I was a serial killer'? So I stared hard at him for a second or two then gave a crazy laugh and started shaking my head from side to side! 'No way' I said giving him the mad look again ' what are the chances of two of us being in the same car at the same time'? Then to seal the lad's fright, I yelped like a wolf and winked at him! We were on the outskirts of Worthing by now and he asked me to drop him at the next bus stop? so I said 'are you sure? I was hoping to keep you with me for a few more hours or so'! I pulled up at the stop and he was out of the car like greased lightening! All the way home I was expecting blue lights and armed police to be pulling me over, but they never did of course! My missus wasn't too impressed when I told her, neither were my two daughters when she told them! But, I've always been the one out of step with the rest of society, from my poaching days up until now, and hopefully beyond for a few more years yet! When I was a bus driver in Brighton I spent more time in the boss's office than his desk did, mainly for upsetting passengers with my weird sense of humour! Sorry if I've bored you at all, but once I started typing, I didn't want to stop! Anyway, I love your vids mate, it takes me back to better, and simpler times, without all this political correctness and so many other restrictions to our freedom!

I was raised in Cofton and spent my youth in the park, Lickey Hills, Barnt Green reservoir and trout lakes, along the canal...Westmead, Hopwood, Roberts Corner, Tardebigge right down to Hanbury and Droitwich. Camping, fishing, cycling, rambling. Perfect childhood really. I moved away when I married but returned to Bromsgrove in 1984 -2015. Walked and camped in the Randan Woods and Chaddesley....the Barnt Green Inn, Dodford Inn and New Inn at Bournheath my favourite locals. Now I'm in Brittany and surrounded by forest and streams 😁

@@eleveneleven572 Nice one mate, I worked at British Leyland in Longbridge when they started building the Austin Allegro and Derek 'Red Robbo' Robinson was our union leader! But despite what the papers had to say about Derek, I always found him to be a decent bloke who'd do his best for the blokes. When Michael Edwardes was sent in by Thatcher to break the unions, it also broke Derek's heart, he went downhill after that, whilst Edwardes became 'Sir' Michael Edwardes as his reward for services against the working class! We had meetings galore up at Cofton Park, come rain or shine we'd march up there, then ramble back a bit slower as we mulled over what to do next! I lived in Stoke Prior for a number of years and was well known as a poacher by local farmers, particularly the Bayliss brothers, Bill and Arthur and Miss Bailey=Hill who farmed next to the Birmingham to Worcester railway line! One local farmer Mr Gill told me to 'come anytime, it saves you sneaking about at night when We're in bed'! And the lovely Miss Bailey-Hill used to turn a blind eye anyway! I hope you're keeping well, and thanks for bringing back those long forgotten memories!

@@snerper Snap, I worked there from school as a commercial student in 1973. My father was a rectifier in (if I remember correctly) Dalmuir bldg. My first placement in the Tretham time office, then the cost office on Rednal Road, then East works financial analysis and finally in the central analysis above the drawing shop. All those separated by 6 month college breaks. I loved working there, I'd grown up hearing the Bull in the morning and smelling the suds on my dads cow gown. I felt sorry for all the guys. Early on I came across senior old school tie management who even to an 18 yr old seemed a waste of space. I also met some thuggish union stewards who'd threaten me if I ventured onto the shop floor. The regular workers were the meat in the sandwich. My father struggled for years with money problems due to strikes and some serious operations on his back and stomach. We often had the Secure Homes guy around who was great at helping us keep a roof over our heads. I left as soon as I qualified because I could see the writing on the wall. A couple of years later many people got laid off and couldn't find work. On the heap in their 40's. I kills me to see it all gone. They had the expertise but how can you sell cars with 3 or 6 month waits when you can go across the road and buy new cars from other companies virtually off the forecourt? They could never get ahead of the game, make money, invest and develop new vehicles. A few years back I drove past the old East works to find it demolished...I choked up. All gone, an entire community devastated. There is an Ex Apprentice Association that meets up every year but since I discovered it we've been in Covid lockdown. Typical. 😂 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/aJxlrMtoutOqYKs.html

@@eleveneleven572 Mate, I can't believe this, I was a customer of secure homes too, and they've gotten me out of the shit a few times, if I remember rightly they had an office in Heathfield road birmingham. Can you remember an exhaust company running at least until the mid eighties called Gollywogs ltd exhaust fitting specialists, their motto was 'we don't put jam in jars, we put exhausts on cars' I still remember their phone number too 021 440 1360, two white blokes, a west indian and an asian bloke ran it, and did a cracking job too! Imagine that existing in today's P.C. climate? I used to go to the tower ballroom next to Edgbaston resevoir and the Locarno dance hall in Hurst street, Thursday nights were nicknamed 'Widow night' when a lot of women who's husbands worked nights at British Leyland went on the razzle! Pat Roach the wrestler / actor had a weekend mobile home down a lane in Wychbold between Bromsgrove and Droitwich and we often met when I walked my girls along there on their pony on Saturday/ Sunday afternoons. He always called me 'vicar' 'afternoon vicar' he'd say, although I look less like a vicar than anyone else I know! A few weeks ago we went to Dudley for a four day break at the travelodge next to the Black Country Living Museum and we had a day there and a day round Cannock Chase, Clent and Worcester and a morning in the Bullring in Birmingham! Later on that night was the night that bloke randomly stabbed those gay people, it was quite a shock when we heard about that!

Glad you are having a good day! I’m actually from Norfolk, but I lived in Staffordshire for a while during my time in the Army (hence the love of camping). Wild camping really is just the best, getting in the real wild! Just saw your video on the French F2 tent - funnily enough I had been looking at both tents for a long time. Every KZfaqr seems to slag them off, and I couldn’t understand why because military stuff usually works well. Looks like they don’t just know how to use it - a workman should never blame his tools. If ever you set up a Patreon I’d be happy to chip in. Take care out there!

Hi Andrew, Norfolk a beautiful place to live👍🏻A massive respect to you sir also for have being in the military💯👍🏻💯 Yes my friend wild camping is a brilliant thing to do, good for physical health and mental. I see many tents set up incorrectly, or what I'd personally see as incorrect. Truth military stuff is built to do the job and also do it well, I always see it as maybe that person is just learning the (wet way) hard way heheh! I also agree a workman should never blame his tools. Great to see others sharing the same passion that we have👍🏻🌳🌳🌳 Ah thank you very much about the patreon, I dont think I'll ever do one but I do understand why others would do so. I really enjoyed your video. This world was created for God's pleasure, and for man to enjoy. His creation is so amazing. I can't help but imagine how much better the garden of Eden was, before man gave in to temptation. Sadly, so many never get close enough to this beautiful creation to truly appreciate it. We need to be thankful for what has been given us. Getting out in to nature puts things back into perspective, and makes me feel so thankful for being able to enjoy it. Thanks for posting.

Hi there, yes we certainly want to be thankful of the earth. Just such a shame mankind is so very destructive to her and himself. Greed is a massive reason things are as they are and not as they should be. Nature and mankind need each other, we are one thing. But things are gradually becoming more and more detached. The connection is getting less and less, there can only be one outcome. Thank you very much for watching and your lovely comment Here's wishing you a lovely peaceful evening All the very best 🌳🌳🌳🕊🌳🌳🌳 Mike

@@xCodeView Thanks Mike. Your reply makes sense. Yes, greed has done plenty of harm to us, as well as the rest of creation. You've probably heard the saying, "money is the root of all evil", well that's a misquoted scripture. The actual verse goes like this. "For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows." 1 Timothy 6:10. There's nothing wrong with wealth, but there's plenty wrong with putting wealth, or for that matter pleasure before all else. Some of the results of those sorrows are a rise in crime, broken families, drug addiction, and it being harder and harder to find pristine places like the one you found here. Some have such a lack of respect for others that we keep finding their garbage in our field from when they throw it out their car windows as they drive by. We've even had people drive well into our field to do their thing, leaving alcohol bottles and other garbage where they spent the night. If that's all they think of others, it's no wonder they don't think any more of nature. Anyway, enough negativity. Thankfully God is merciful, and I know I need plenty of his mercy myself. If I were in his place, I would have destroyed mankind a long time ago. On the lighter side, You really did over fill your Evernew alcohol burner. It was kind of nice though to see you relaxing next to the flame. Glad you were able to take some time off and enjoy the great outdoors. Sorry for leaving such a long comment, but I'm a chatter box in person as well. You've probably figured that out by now. Thanks again for sharing this enjoyable video, and for choosing some relaxing music to go with it.

Love the intro mate, really nice music too, so relaxing with the sound of the rain on the leaves and the tent, nice chat too, people being part of the machine and becoming more detached from nature, although lately it seems to be becoming cool again to get out into the outdoors, bushcraft, wild camping, as long as people stick to the leave no trace and respect nature it's a good thing. Definitely good to get a break from working life and soak some nature up. I've got a similar titanium stove , only used it once but gonna give it another run out soon. Sea bass and stir fry 👌 delicious, I like the look of them UCO lantern and burner, great shot with the deer calls too 👍, top video mate, all the best 👍👍

All revolving round dr*gs status g*ns m*rder and materialism. Gone are the days of a fist fight and that was that(not saying thats the right way either), here are the days of stabbings and shootings- cold blooded Murder. Its all on the tv too, no getting away from it, we are all being brainwashed but most terrible of all the children are. I cannot see a future of peace when things are like they are right now. Dear Sir; Yours was a very comforting and welcoming video. I have spent many a day in the rainy bush, and this brought back good memories, and listening to your down home philosophizing was calming for the spirit. Thank-you. Edit:- The oil burner for your candle lantern is also my choice. Sometimes, due to wind or a sloppy wick, the candles burn evenly and can make a bit of a mess with dripping wax in your tent and a speeded up burn time. The oil insert eliminates this problem. 👍

Enjoyed your life philosophy ... there's too much emphasis placed on material possessions ... rush to do evwrything ... no value anymore on life and what it has to offer. The rat race has affected everyone's health coz no time for the sights sounds and health benefits of the outdoors ... real country style living where if it doesn't happen today it may do tomorrow or sometime. Love the vlog and your choice of music made it all so peaceful in the wet. Like to get some details on the little burner as not seen that one before. i think about what we meant to live and the plastic world we actually have to live in all the time. like you im a outdoorsy person. im getting older now, but up until i was in my 40s i spent more time camping , wild / survival camping than i did at home. i still go but with life and commitments its not as much anymore. if i could id live outdoors. in the forest. in a mudhut and be just fine with that.

Hello there Jemma heheh👋🏻😊🌳🌳🌳 Hey no worries, it's a pleasure to know you enjoy the vids! 👍🏻Thank you Hey there's nothing stopping you doing a solo other than what the media's shown or told you. Take those scary thoughts and be driven positively by them, take time and build confidence by day camping, challenge yourself..Then overnighter with a friend? Always tell a loved one where you are and what time to meet, you could also arrange a time that he or she could phone you. I wish wild camping was my life, it's just a massive part of it. Helped me through some really hard dark times, Take care Jemma

@@xCodeView Oh I see sorry to hear that 😥..... I haven't myself but have always wanted to as love the woods, love trees and have always had a yearning to be surrounded by trees and hate to see them cut down but guess being female it always worried me that being out in the woods at night in the dark alone in this day and age unfortunately is probably not a good idea sadly 😞 🌳🌲🍃🌿🌳🌲🍃🌿❄🌨🌧❄🌨🌧

Good morning Black Country Woodsman. I am sure many of your viewers would agree there is nothing like listening to the rain to calm the mind & soul. Beautiful sights & sounds of Mother Nature. Simplistic life for Humans is something becoming quite rare, the demands now being made by authorities forcing us into their scheme of things to get that control is not that far away from becoming a reality. I do not believe it is how it should be living in concrete boxes. Travel safely & be happy. Oh by the way at the end of your video what species was making that croaky, grunty soundz.

Yo Mike just watched the vid. Iam actually in a rural village in Thailand away from all the tourist a good reset. Its supposed to be rainy season(and it can rain) here but not in the village.. Regards the rat race here they're some very poor people who cannot afford to get in to it, no mobiles TV ect but every night all the family sit down together for a meal.. They don't know how lucky they are.. Great vid as always..

Hi Gavin, Oh man that's awesome, you're in Thailand! What an amazing adventure you're on!👍🏻 Agreed my friend, a more simplistic life closer to nature would also bring us closer to our loved ones. I'd much rather live a shorter life span and have a far higher quality of life living the way our ancestors did, than live a longer life of imprisonment by the system. Enjoy your epic adventure Gavin Thank you very much for watching All the very best 🌳🌳🌳🕊🌳🌳🌳 Mike

Hi Glen, thank you my friend🤗 Yes I agree mate, many within this community do see 'outside the bubble' it's a terrible thing that life is not as its supposed to be lived. Mankind's continued disconnection with each other and the overall neglect for the planet defies words, right down to the lies we are told and how we're all being controlled and manipulated. Thank you Glen I'd love to meet up at some point, the same goes for you if you're ever up here in the West Midlands be sure to let me know please👍🏻😊🌳🌳🌳 Thank you very much for watching Here's wishing you a peaceful week ahead. 🌳🌳🌳🕊🌳🌳🌳 All the very best Mike
