So happy you guys are liking the story so far! This is my favorite manga and the anime has absolutely blown me away so far, I can't wait for the rest! A few interesting things about the story to this point (spoiler free): The Japanese title "Jigokuraku" is actually a portmanteau of the words for hell "jigoku" and heaven/paradise "gokuraku," opposed to the English oxymoron take (which still gets the point across lol). So really, it's a mystifying mixture of the two places which is the exact impression people have had about the island. As stated, the island is believed to be Shinsenkyo, which in actual Japanese mythology is a utopia/paradise akin to places in other mythologies/stories like Shangri-La and the garden of Eden. Sagiri mentions heading to Edo first. This is actually taking place close to the end of the Edo period, before Edo turned into Tokyo in the new era. This story is likely taking place somewhere between 1800-1860. For historical reference, this is when we start getting photography! And for anime reference, it would be about 50-100 years before Demon Slayer's story is set! She also mentions it's "past the Ryukyu Kingdom." This is in reference to the Ryukyu islands, which were not yet under Japanese rule. As such, they actually have a very distinct culture from what's traditionally "Japanese." Okinawa is probably the most famous destination here. They're spread out southwest of Japan's mainland, and end close toward Taiwan. Somewhere between the two is where our mystery island is located. The lyrics for the opening are very attuned to the story's themes, especially the final verse. Definitely worth checking out sometime! Excited to see what you guys think of the rest of the story~!

Yes this show is apart of something called the dark trio. It consist of hells paradise Chainsaw man and jujutsu kaisen. And there called dark trio because it pushes the boundary between shounen and seinen manga

Sagiri goes to find a way to get stronger so she can take over her family and she once in a while goes to visit mcs wife to have girl chats with her while mc spends most of the time sleeping and eating 😂

NGL when I saw you guys upload not knowing anything about this I was like "'sigh' alright, let's go check it out". Seeing it was rated R raised an eyebrow, at the very least it's not the same old anime with the same 100 tropes. After watching the first episode I'm interested in seeing where the story goes, I wouldn't trust anything Yamada says if I were MC.
