Fair Warning!!! I discovered when opening my ProLine that it is not exactly like this one and has some electrical components attached to either side. Be sure to open the bottom gently so as not to pull out any wires! Also, since my pedal was spring loaded, the squeak was coming from a different location, namely the hinge of the pedal itself and a little bit from the spring. With all the wiring do not spray excessively, just a few drops worked for me. :) Thanks so much for this video, it was very helpful!

All of these comments are positive, and with good reason. This really works. It fixed the annoying squeak my kawai triple pedal unit had with this same oil. I was about to buy a new pedal which runs at about 180$! A small can of WD-40 only costed me 3 bucks.

9 years later and you've saved my sanity

There are actually two places inside this pedal that can cause squeaking. The first is shown in this video (the switch lever-pedal junction), but there is another one. When you push the pedal fully down, the metal pedal bottoms out on a part of the plastic casing to prevent the pedal going any further. This area has two plastic ledges, one either side of the metal pedal, that flex slightly when you push the pedal fully down, and they can rub on the underside of the pedal, causing a squeak at the last few mm of travel. Apply some grease at these two points (you can do this without removing the back plate). By the way, don't use WD40. Use a proper lubricant/grease or the problem will return. Vaseline works better than WD40 if you don't have grease.

I had one of these sitting in a drawer for years because I couldn't stand the squeaking. Tried your fix and it works like new again!

Mine hasn't started squeaking...yet. But I bet you saved a lot of people's sanity with this fix.

My fc4 stopped working, and the pedal sagged a little, not returning to the full open position. I have two, so I solved the problem by comparing. The metal bracket wings that hold the mechanism in place with Philips screws had warped over time. I straightened each side in a large vise, problem went away.

How long does it until you need to do it again?

I used only one drop and the pedal stopped working. Did damage the connections and how to fix?

does this work on cheaper version of sustain pedal?

Oh that noise! I've had mine barely a few days and it started. I'll attack with WD-40 asap.

WD 40 is not a lubricant! This will only be a temporary fix. A better solution here would be oil or grease.

Do you know how to reverse the polarity on it? My pedal suddenly decided to be backwards and sustain when not pressed down and normal when pressed down. It's a challenge playing like that!
