Yamaha R1 starting problem

2010 Yamaha R1 has probably developed starter issue and need to crank repeatedly by switching ignition on and off... relay is clicking well.

Yes it was starter at fault as the brushes were totally worn out. Got it replaced with new brushes and now it’s ready to start at any temperatures 👍🏻

you still there ? i got the same problem but wont start at all . did u replaced stator relay to fix it?

@@ppophalkar thanks a lot. mine starts to have problems to start after some time of riding. When he's cold he starts immidiately, but after some period of time of riding when i stop, then sometimes cluster is blinking and has tough times to start up. Thinking about replacing brushes on mine too and check battery

They all do it... Lots of people say it stops when they put a Power Commander on their bike ..some people have rebuild the starter it could also be your battery was a weak , lithium batters can take a minute to crank up from cold ...My bike only does it when I haven't taking it out in a long time.

Got lithium battery but cranking at cold temperatures remains same

My 06 R1 won’t start but click on the relay solenoid. New stator with flywheel and gasket, new battery , new relay solenoid , new rectifier. I’m out of ideas this is frustrating

It was there all time as self starter was faulty.

Still not able to fix after getting it serviced by Yamaha person. Probably something wrong with ECU as the idle speed is slow till engine temperature reaches 51 c. Then it goes to 1100 rpm.

Now fixed by cleaning throttle bodies with 3 M cleaner and repaired starter with new brushes 👍🏻

Usually it is the starter or CCT, I had this issue but I chane to a manual CCT and the issue was solved, so it wasnt my starter motor or starter relay

why the CCT? mine start good when cold but struggles when hot, could it be the CCT ? it has new starter

Ya te digo yo que la solución pasa por cargar la batería. Conozco bien la moto. Puedes coger un multímetro y medir el voltaje de la batería si lo deseas. Si está por debajo de 12v ya tienes la respuesta. En resumen, la moto del vídeo no arranca porque la batería está baja de carga, no hay más.

Normal in cold weather. Bike doesn’t idle properly until warmed up when below a certain temperature outside. This is definitely prominent when you have flashed the ECU and removed OEM O2 sensor for aftermarket fuel tuning. Also, the lithium battery needs to “wake up” when below a certain temperature. Your start could be failing too. A failing start will give similar starting issue. So I’m actually seeing 3 things in this video. -Cold ambient temp causing low idle. -Cold lithium battery causing slow start with a gradual increase in start with each try. “Waking up” the battery. -Possible failing starter.

Why don't you try to engage 3rd or 4th gear and you pushed it away as fast as you can, and then you sit on the bike directly while you release the clutch....

Now the problem is solved after repair of starter brushes and replacing battery with lithium battery 😊

I had same exact Issue on my R1 2011 My problem is that there was a lot of water and rust in the fuel tank. which blocked the top most fuel injector that are in the manifold. Also the fuel pump was clogged by dirt. THE FIX I bought a new Fuel Pump and replaced with my old one which was working fine but It had no "right" pressure to push fuel to all the injectors. I tested one by one the injectors to see which one is not injecting fuel out. I notice the all 4 were clogged. I went to a gas station where they repair the car/track fuel injectors using regulated pressure and it worked. Also I checked my spark plugs they were fine, also I cleaned the fuel tank. After putting everything back the bike run fine... I was so happy Point to note never let your bike run out of gas...since it will use the bottom gas which is usually at most cases dirty . In my case Big A** head forgot to check on the fuel level and i ended up drying out the tank. Also I checked on the corroded terminals in fuel pump and the two connectors below the fuel tank . That was the case with my bike.

Well the bike always uses the "bottom gas" because the fuel pump sucks gasoline from the bottom of the tank... Running out of gas may cause the pump to overheat but I would not suspect it to be the reason for clogging up.
