Glad to see some actual street riding with this bike where a lot of people will be riding it. So many track reviews, but most of your average everyday or beginner riders will be on the street. Better than an R3 but definitely NOT an R6 or replacement for an R6. Happy medium. Good video and review as always!

As somebody who has owned the R7 for 2 months now (preordered very early) I feel like the brakes issue will feel resolved after they are more broken in. It saddens me to see so many people call it slow or underpowered because they are comparing it to the R6 which its not meant to be. Its in a completely different class than the R6. I also feel like its a great bike for beginners but for somebody coming from nothing but liter bikes I get how it can seem slow or dull in comparison. I'm open to any questions about ownership of this wonderful bike

The R7 is a great bike and very good for street use. Some people are comparing apples to oranges. A street bike and a race bike both are made for different purposes and have very little in common the R6 and R7 are unique in their own ways. Plus the people who are making fun of the R7 don’t know that this is the second gen R7 not the first gen. The first gen R7 or known as the OW-02 was a limited production bike that only 500 units were made and it was 749 cc liquid-cooled 4-stroke 20-valve DOHC inline-4 that had an amazingly great sound to it and with a top speed of if you were brave enough around 170 good for 0-60 in around 4 seconds. Truly think if Yamaha decides to make an R9 that can be a good game changer in many ways.

I recently talked to a guy who just bought an R7 too, and yeah, his summary was almost verbatim the same as yours, except he didn't say anything about the seat being uncomfortable. Poor brakes, too quiet, underpowered. He said it just felt soft overall; soft sound, soft performance, soft brakes. Mods can fix most of it, though, except maybe the power thing (although an exhaust and a flash should make a noticeable difference). I'm very interested to see if you can bring this meh-bike to life, Moto!

Everyone wants a fast bike but rarely do they even ride fast (that’s straight lines AND corners) More than half bike riders will be ok on this bike. What we do have to stop 🛑 is not compare it to an R6 because it’s in a totally different class. Most people comparing never even owned an R6 so it’s actually pretty hilarious 😂 After riding for a few weeks now. I’d agree the brakes could be better and exhaust is very quiet. But for the price this is a great alternative to the RS660 or even someone shopping for an R3 but wants more power. Tunes on the R7 turn up the excitement levels in gears 1-3. It’s much more fun to be able to open the throttle on the street from the immediate torque. It’s just a different feeling.

Kind of surprised to hear you need to downshift that to pass but wouldn't with an R6. I find R6s (and all 600 4-cylinders) are gutless and have no power unless you're winding them out so you ALWAYS have to downshift if you want any kind of passing power. I'd think an R7 with a torquey twin would pass at lower revs easier. At least my experience riding an FZ07 before vs a 600 4-banger.

Discontinuing the R6, then giving this bike the “R” moniker gives the impression that this bike is the successor to the R6, when that’s not what it is at all in terms of performance and function. It’s not a bad bike by any stretch, but when compared to the R6, it’s definitely lacking.

not to be rude, but if you start regretting your purchase of a motorcycle based on a single you tube review, then you should change consumer strategies X) , you should see 30-40 reviews all from different people and pick the bias if possible, you will see many people talks crap about the R7 and many talks reason on the R7, is so simple, your new bike, the R7, is a response from Yamaha to the market who was not buying the R6 cause of price, Yamaha decided to make a cheaper street usable super sport looking bike with an already super street-highway capable motor, the mt07. Anything you might hear about from anyone on you tube out of that is subjective, Motonosity here is trying to see if he gets the full 600cc 4 cylinder super sport experience on a bike not designed for that, the ONLY thing you have to concern when purchasing this bike, is the price tag and the comfort-handling compromises of a supers sport, compare those with the options on the market you have, and decide. You decided on an R7, the for sure you had your reasons, are you gonna regret it cause of a single You Tube video?...clear your thoughts and reconsider ;)

@@brohofied2561 you’re not being rude at all. In fact, I really appreciate your opinion. I actually owned a 2017 mt07 so I know what to expect for performance. He kicked the shit out of the bike with poor ergonomics, lack of comfort from the seat, no electronics, made it sound like a really really budget wannabe supersport, which it is and I am aware of that it’s just that everyone else has been giving pretty positive feedback on it for what the bike is. I would only ride recreationally (maybe 2-3 times a week at most) and I thought the bike would suffice for that but now I’m not so sure. Chaseontwowheels is raving on about it…but now come to think of it Yamaha gave him a couple of bikes for a month so there’s probably a reward somewhere for him to give it a good review.

When I heard Yamaha was bringing the R7 to the streets I was so excited. I expected it to have the #41 plate of Noriyiki Haga on it, instead it's a two cylinder with the same horsepower as a Moto3 bike... such a disappointment.

@Fee.1
@Fee.1 2 жыл бұрын
@@Daniel-dj7fh having said that, if you don’t think 40% more hp and identical torque levels but the ability to make that torque for much longer and enjoy revving it out, that’s fine, but if you want a R7 for anything aside from appearance the brakes and the build quality and shocks and all the other components add up to making the rs660 make a lot more sense for anyone that’s way into riding in a sporty manner. I’m not really into either bike but if I wanted one i would go RS660 every time. I didn’t like it at first. But compared to this bike, for not that much more (MSRP) and even closer pricing out the door, hard to ignore
@Daniel-dj7fh

@@Fee.1 You also have to keep in mind, that the Rs660 has a considerably lower market in Europe, since it makes more than 95hp you can't restrict it down for A2 riders. And Not many people who get their full licence are going to bother getting a 600cc if they can get a 1000.

FYI. Within the context of people who modify their machines. A stock car or motorcycle is at a baseline for performance. The factory sets a stock baseline to improve upon, modify, tweak, adjust, customize. There's no sense in criticizing a machine at a stock baseline because the machine is no where near its full potential and maximum performance state. Make your adjustments and then critique. 👍🏿

Don't like this look, don't like this lack of power, don't like that annoying cable blocking the dash. For a beginner rider, I would suggest going something cheaper to start and get the feel of riding. A simple drop or even a crash might prevent them from hoping on the bike.

The constant references to the R6 are misleading for you viewers. This bike is not intended to "replace" the R6 in any way. The two projects have nothing to do with each other. If the R6 sold better, they'd both be in the showroom together. As you pointed out, the SV is a good comparison, with the R7 being a better starting point for sporty riding.

I think you're kinda missing the point of this bike. It wasn't built for top end straight line riding. Side note: Do you even have a street with curve?lol 0-100 is really not bad on this bike. I mean it's not my 05 ZX6R 636, but it's great for what it's intended. They focused more on handling and low end power than go to jail top speed power. I opted to put a deposit on the 60th Anniversary World GP edition coming in January, rather than buy the blue. I'm anxious to see your build. I'm leaning towards the GYTR mods from Yamaha because it will be a first production year special edition model, but I feel like those mods might end up costing more than the bike itself. They claim that they will offer all the mods from the Twins Cup racing bike. But we'll see. Once the R7 arrives, the 636 will be converted to the track day bike I intended when I bought it. But the R7 seems a better choice for the street riding I do.

Am I the only one not really hyped about the R7? “But it’s better for the street” ok then just get a naked bike if that’s what you’re looking for. Usually people that are after the super sport look want the super sport performance. Not saying it’s terrible or anything but to replace the R6 is just a shame.
