I'm a mom I have a 3 year old daughter and I was still pay my parents my siblings her aunties and uncles to watch her because at the end of the day I know that she is a lot of work a child is a lot of work and if she's living with somebody who is that person's child most likely he's not going to pay rent because that's his home automatically people want to keep on going at him for not paying anything with one they both agree while all three of them agree that he builds things in the house so technically he might be spending more money and building cuz you got to get the supplies and materials and everything so he could be spending more with building than what is but no one wants to think of that and to they have a child so yeah the rent is going to be more that's common sense people who are entitled is going to feel likewhat the grandmother did was unfair but what she did was correct she's keeping them responsible for knowing how to keep bills paid on time making sure that that's because you have a child doesn't mean that you have to stay behind she still try to help even though the daughter-in-law because that's basically what she is I stop paying rent even though she did lose a job she did get another job that didn't pay as much but she didn't pay rent for at least 5 months and she didn't get kicked out she left without them saying that there was an issue without saying that they was arguing she didn't complain about it but most are and ya not living her life it's sad because Grandma did nothing wrong but it seems like she's the one who's getting more talk to in the son talk to because they want to be responsible and teach how things should be

Half that debt should of been the sons so i think the Judge should of told the mother if you want the other half sue the childs father. Mom paid rent for herself(rpice gouged her) dad should pay the other half for the baby. and half the childcare.

She told lies is why she lost and has to pay back rent. She signed a leased with the promise to pay every month and did not. She is not even sorry for it either. I feel for her baby daddy, for he is stuck with her for years to come till their child turns 18 or 21.

​@@kittyfan I think on special occasions or to give mom and dad a break, a grand parent can and should step up and watch the kids, ansolutly free, but as for a full time baby sitter, many grandma's and grand dads have a life outside the home, so definitely pay them for their time, as lonf as agreed upon $, even if it's token money, not as much if you had to pay a real sitter.

Not only could it have cost the agony of never seeing her grandchild again, she didn't have the brains to consider what else her lawsuit could do to her sons family. She undoubtedly took food from her grandchilds mouth, clothes off their back, diapers, and everything else that is needed to take care of a child. Not just any child, HER grandchild. I have 8 grandchildren and I could never nor would I ever charge their parents rent, that's money that they should have been saving up to get their own home. If she had to charge it, she could have put it in a savings account to help them get on their feet. There's also no way in hell that I could ever charge them for watching my own grandchildren, especially if I didn't work and was home anyway which sounds like she was. I know that they need to learn how to take care of finances and I am all for helping them see what the real world and cost of raising a child will be. But I also think that she could've put this money away to help them at a later time when they really needed help. They obviously weren't doing great financially or they wouldn't have been living with her. She even sued her for gas, come on, she's the grandmother of their child, helping out is what grandparents and parents do. If she was going to charge them for child care then they should have taken the child to a real daycare. There's nothing wrong with the grandparents watching the children, but if you are going to pay for it anyway then put them in a reputable daycare that will give the child the skills they need later when they start school. Daycare is a great place for children to learn social skills, sharing, make friends and so many other skills that they are not going to be exposed to by spending everyday with grandma. Even though I am retired and could care for my grandchildren, I don't unless it's an emergency situation. They need to be around other children their own age and learn that there's more to life than just grandma. I love my grandchildren and enjoy caring for them every chance I get, but I know that my job is to be grandma, and they need to be interacting with other children before they are in school so they know that it's okay to be away from mommy, daddy, and grandma and spend the day with other kids their own age without having a breakdown because they've never been in the situation. It also eliminates a lot of separation anxiety. Help your children out if they need it and you are able to help. Don't become their enabler to by playing the role of parents, grandparents, live-in landlord, and nanny. Be someone who they can ask for help in a tough time, otherwise enjoy being what you are, parents and grandparents who don't charge for spending time with your family, especially the little ones, they grow up way to fast.

He will always pick loser women and be stuck paying child support for them. Hopefully he dumped her and only has to pay child support and weekend visits with his child. The defendant is a loser.

Kids need BOTH of their parents, even if they are far from perfect, as long as they’re not abusive. He is equally responsible for creating both of his kids. I’m sure he’s aware of condoms. The 2 yr. old was conceived within a couple of months of the beginning of their relationship (she moved in when he was 27 and now he’s 29, and the child is 2 years old). He definitely does NOT seem like the more responsible of the two parents. When he met her he was living with his mom due to stipulations required in his divorce (his words to Doug). It sounds like he was having trouble of some kind (drugs/alcohol/crime?) and he had to live there in order to have visitation with his older son. (And I admire him for doing whatever it took in order to continue to see that son.) And from the sound of it he may not be visiting the older son much now because he is only at his mom’s house every other week. Neither one of them has made the best decisions. At the very least they weren’t financially stable enough to have a child. But he was the more irresponsible one because he was already a father of one child and unable to support himself. She made a bad choice when she got pregnant with a guy that irresponsible. I have no idea how you think that she’s the bigger problem.

When JM first started that sentence you could see the plaintiff’s little smile - she actually thought that JM was being sympathetic about all the trouble this poor, unappreciated mom/grandma had gone through, as though she agreed with the plaintiff! But halfway through the sentence she heard where JM was really going and realized that JM was right. She looked so upset that I actually felt a bit of sympathy for her.

The babysitting bill is their joint responsibility. Also the plaintiff said that she charged the defendant $50 more than she charged her other son & girlfriend “because SHE had the child”. So that means she (plaintiff) is charging the defendant for the grandchild’s rent but not charging the boy’s father anything for his own son’s rent. It’s also just ridiculous to charge anything extra for the 2 year old. From birth to the age of two, how much did he cost in utilities? Did he take long hot showers? Was he charging video rentals to the cable bill? Was he awake while everyone else was asleep, keeping the lights on or turning up the heat? No, for the first year he took tiny baby baths, then really shallow baths, probably at a cooler temperature than the adults. The only extra utility use I can think of that a baby might cause is a couple of extra loads of laundry a week (unless they used cloth diapers, which would require more loads and more hot water). And maybe a tad more electricity to be used on heating up bottles/baby food.

Being a full time parent( or nanny, would impede a personal life. Yes, everyone is different.... I'm just saying, that for me, once a person gets married, has children and then grandchildren, they no longer have a life of their own; rather, their life is now family life and that is the way it remains until death. Such a life is not a hardship nor a burden... I have found being both a father and a grandfather, a magical and joyful experience... a real blessing. A grandparent's leisure time, in part, is having fun with their grandchildren.... a grandparent's hobbies, in part, are things they do with their grandchildren. If the adult children need a bit of assistance with their own children (the grandchildren), we grandparents will jump in and help; but we don't charge them money for it; at least none that I know would. My wife and I love hanging with our children and our grandchildren.

Judge Marilyn really didn’t want to give the plaintiff the money, but under the eyes of the law she had to. 😔 We all, including the Judge, agree that the plaintiff is a disgrace of a human and her son is a total failure. Husband probably didn’t play a big part in his upbringing that’s why the son is like that. However, the husband could have done something if he didn’t like how his wife was raising their sons.

What is the grandmother needs a job? A lot of grandparents can afford to stay home and take care of a grandchild for free, but if they needed to work, would make sense for the parents to pay the grandmother instead of another daycare, so there’s nothing wrong with it, but in this case, I think the grandmother was just greedy.
