One of the smartest things that a guy can do is to learn how to tailor his own clothes, and this video I'm going to give you all the reasons and benefits as to why.
First off, it's a massive confidence booster. There are very few things that will boost your confidence like wearing clothes that fit you properly. It changes the way you carry yourself, the way you walk into a room and the way people treat you as well.

For me, tailoring is economical because it allows me to shop sales and cheaper brands, instead of having to restrict myself to the exact size of the exact brand that fits me perfectly

After losing forty pounds, I found a lot of my clothes fitting loose. While all my trousers are tailored (short man issues,) I did not like how my newer small size looked, and part of me felt awkward being I still have a few more pounds to lose. After tailoring my shirts, it actually helped accentuate what the progress I made over what else I need to work on. Upon returning to work, a lot of coworkers had glowing remarks.

Hey SD, love your channel! I'm a lot older, a lot whiter, and I probably wear a different sort of clothes than you do. I also live in southwest England, in a community where the fashion aesthetic is probably a bit different to where you live. But you've totally inspired me! I've got at least a half dozen pairs of pants that - thanks to your guidance on hemming and tapering - I now love wearing. They'd previously hung, unloved and unworn, in the deeper recesses of my closet. Can't tell you the number of times I see gentlemen - sometimes wealthy, accomplished, and distinguished - wearing "trousers" (as we call them here) that are too long, or too baggy. And I think to myself: A little time with a sewing machine, a tape measure, chalk, pins, and some decent thread - and those trousers would look SOOOO much better. I just got finished sewing in braces (suspenders) buttons on a couple pairs of pants. Not a topic I think you've covered. But wearing suspenders with buttons (as opposed to nasty alligator clips) totally ups your game when wearing a suit. I'm still working up to trying my first blind hem. The sort you use on wool dress pants that come with a suit, where you don't want to see stitches on the outside. But I'm going to practice. I'm going to make mistakes. But I'll get there. Many, many thanks for your channel!

Thank you for the awesome comment and I'm glad you enjoy my content, it means a lot! It's crazy what a few minutes under a sewing machine can do for your clothes thats for sure, more guys need to know that. Good luck with the blind hem, I'm gonna make a tutorial on that shortly, but in the meantime reach out with any questions!

Adicting? Oh yes. The first sewing machine my grandmother gave was impossible to work with. She is a pro seemstress, so she offered a switch. De don't live in the same part of the country, so I had to go for months before I could get her old used (but shined up) sewing machine. I was not happy! Of course, I am very thankfull to my grandmother, and I hope she can tame the other one. I had no luck, but unlike her, I am a amature :) -Greetings from Denmark

Firstly, shout out from Brazil, I'm a huge fan and I got into tailoring after watching some of your videos years ago :D Now that I watched it I remember that time when my tailor charged me 15$ to just sew a line through my old skirt, literally a F line that was +-6inch across and the skirt itself cost me 20$, that was a tipping point for me, since then I've never sent another piece of clothing to a tailor because I realized I could the same job (if not equally, BETTER) in a fraction of time, and for LESS money too. Since my sense of fashion is really "weird" (I'm kinda androgynous with some love for Yohji Yamamoto) finding pieces of clothing that I actually like is near to impossible, and when I find them they're expensive as hell, so I had to start making my own and BOI it was the right decision. When ppl ask me where I bought my clothing, I always reply with: "Well, I MADE it myself". I still don't know if I start my own brand or not, dunno really, but anyway, thak you for saving me and my style from the normative "boxy = good" that plague us

I think I'll choose to tailor my clothes once I've shed more weight. I literally just started to plan taloring one of my shirts and it hugged my body (my midsection in particular), in a not-so-flattering way. It basically made me insecure of my big belly when I looked in the mirror, so it's a lil' sad. Nonetheless, I am thinking of using this skill soon. Also, I am on a gradual weight loss journey, so I am thinking on beginning to tailor some clothes when I've reached my goal bodyfat level. Wish me luck guys!
