We've had ours over a year now, and it's one of the best investments we've made, I always wanted a second oven and now I have one that only takes the space of a microwave! It's so easy to warm leftovers, heat frozen foods, bake desserts and homemade fries, make pizza, grill burgers and chicken, make toast, and the list goes on. I've even used the dehydrator setting, but because we use the oven a lot and dehydrating takes so long I prefer to use a dehydrator instead...we love it!

We absolutely love our oven! We’ve had it a little more than one year. My wife has baked some great pies, and I have fixed some good burgers, potstickers, egg rolls, pizza, etc. In response to you having to push the menu button over and over and over, that is not necessary. Once you push the menu button one time, then you can turn the knob dial to get to whatever setting you want…quick and easy! We’ve never had a problem with noise. We always leave ours plugged in. Another BIG plus is our kitchen stays much cooler by not turning our big oven on. You can’t use a microwave oven to properly fix all the items I mentioned!

Sorry to hear you are having such a time with your oven! I've had mine since 2019 and get along just fine with it! Just to help out...when the pre programed functions are chosen, to change the temp and/or time simply turn the large knob for any adjustment. If food not done to your preference you don't have to repeat the entire procedure...simply turn oven back on, press large knob, choose temp, press again to choose time. It's like any newer ovens today with a timer you preset to come on and turn off while one is doing other things. And you don't need to use menu. Like ANY OTHER OVEN.. the large knob is the on/off control! You know, turn on..set temp, press again..set time, and it turns off automatically.. By the way, my oven stays plugged in, I don't hear sny noise unless it's in use...that's the convection fan running, which can also be turned off. Sorry for being long winded...but this oven is great. And no one has paid for this or given me any thing free.

Linda, thank you so much for your tips! No need to apologize for a helpful comment ;) I'll double-check if I can turn off the convection fan. The noise is constant whether it's in use or not. The large knob feels counter-intuitive on the Nuwave oven because there's also an On/Off button that is used mainly to turn it on and off instead of the large knob that is used to start/pause a cooking function. It could be that we have different versions? A few commenters have mentioned that with the newer versions some of the issues I experienced have been corrected. I do love the oven and I'm so happy you do, too!

I have used my oven without choosing from the menu. All you have to do is set the temperarure you want and press preheat. When preheated you have 5 minutes to get your dish in the oven, then push start. It will shutoff when done. I have owned this oven at least two years. Hope this also helps.

i just bought the new model XLBravo smart oven-and im having the devil of a time figuring out the instructions-i need it mostly for baking-and im so glad you pointed out that i have to turn it off and do all the steps again if something looks under baked-that was driving me nuts-otherwise im pretty happy with it-havent air fried anything yet

The toast and bagel functions have the same settings but probably utilize the heating elements in different ways. The toaster setting probably uses both the top and bottom elements at full power, whereas the bagel setting probably reduces the power of the bottom elements or doesn't use the bottom elements at all. I don't have this particular oven but that's how it's worked on every toaster oven I've ever used.

I have one, but I’ve never noticed any noise coming from it just by having it plugged-in. I use mine almost every day, including cooking and baking.

I'm so glad to hear that you also use yours every day and with no issues with the strange noise! Some commenters have mentioned that with the newer models, the noise issue was corrected. It could be that I got one of the first versions of the oven.

I have the newer version without the metal strip across the menu area, but I love it too. However with mine it doesn't shut off after preheating. Mine just goes to the cooking cycle after the few seconds that it gives you to put the food into it.

Just FYI, you should not have that oven right up against the wall in your kitchen. You need to move it closer to the edge of your counter. You need ventilation on the backside.

We just got our Bravo XL last week, along with the NutriPot that came with it. There is definitely a learning curve, but for the most part we've been very happy with the results. We've baked a perfect pie, grilled burgers, reheated fries and other leftovers, toasted and broiled bread in the oven. I'm going to give cookies a try today. The nutripot pressure cooker did an excellent job with both a pot roast and bbq pulled pork...the addition of bacon to the pulled pork recipe that came with the pot was brilliant and so delicious, btw.

Everything you've described sounds so delicious! Yes, there's a bit of a learning curve, but I do love the variety of things that you could make with the oven. The NutriPot looks amazing as well! We have an old Instant Pot and absolutely love it!

@@josephthomas2226 No, cooking bacon in the NutriPot does not fill the house with smoke. Cooking it in the oven probably would because of the grease splattering on the elements.

I'm glad I could help. I've learned you have to find your own cooking temp. , usually lower because it's smaller... I still have not been successful using the air fryer, if anyone has any tips I'd appreciate them! ,

Great video, you were saying you don't use most of the functions, and a lot of other users were saying it is too difficult to follow the recipes, and a lot of people say they wish Nu wave would make some videos, but I find that reading the user manual, like they say in the first set of directions is the best answer, I am currently reading it and I am sure I am going to have to read it a second time because there is so much information there. I am sure that even if the salesmen made videos they would miss things, so read the manual and I am sure you will get a lot more out of your fryer, I learn more after each page read.

Well, the company should have hired an actual writer to create the manual, and then test it out. As it is, the manual is very poorly written and isn’t conducive to being satisfied with the appliance.

When you use bagel instead of toast it doesn't turn on both elements on the top and bottom only one, when you do toast both turn on. Basically the same vut slightly different

I have a newer version of the oven. There is no noise when plugging it in. Bagel and Waffle setting is taken out. There are a lot of different buttons. I have option to turn off pre heating and I can add more time. When first using it, I kept getting the toast option a lot. I haven't use the other settings yet.

I brought one about a year ago and the line-up seems a little different than yours. They must have agreed with you because mine, when you press the menu button comes up with "1" and then you can use the dial; in fact, I didn't know about the way you have to press the menu button several times until I saw a commercial about 6 months ago. I agree with you about the preheat timer though. To get around this...especially with toast and/or bagels, I butter them while preheating then it is ready; alternatively, I also set the timer a few minutes more than set time and turn off the preheat immediately for things like meats. They are advertising a newer model with grill. Also, it has stage cooking that you can program and save.

Oh Im so glad to hear they have improved some things! I like your idea of having some things pre-prepped for the preheat! I have to remember to go back to the oven in 5 minutes after the preheat so it doesn’t shut off :/ Sounds like the newer model you have doesn’t do that? The smart oven appears to have a “grill” option, but I haven’t used it. Very cool to see its being advertised for an upcoming model. Maybe they improved its function as well! Thank you for your comment :) Hope you’re getting lots of great use from the oven:)

What newer version? Are you simply referring to more recently manufactured units, rather than older ones such as Yentl's almost 2-year-old unit? I only see the original version that's been out for several years on the Nuwave infomercial and site for $180. By the way, lower priced units elsewhere (Amazon, QVC) don't seem have all the pizza accessories or the 3-year warranty and 1-year with VIP service on the warranty. I suppose our best chance of getting a newer unit is to purchase direct from Nuwave. Thank you.

We should never set ourselves up for failure to get a good feeling for a moment in time. Life does not work that way.

I'm wondering if the difference between bagel and toast functions is the level that the top and bottom elements are set. So even though they look like exact settings, the bagel might have say 100% top and 60% bottom. Because on a bagel you don't want the bottom as toasted as the top. I'm not completely sure that's what's going on, but I have to assume that toast and bagel are not duplicates as they appear to you.

i have had my nu wave for about a year and half with no sound, i use it all the time to make air fried sausage hot dogs , grilled cheese , ive made steak fried chicken baked chicken, and burgers.

i recently got one of these and it is a newer model, it doesn't make any noise when plugged in and the knob now scrolls through the menu. meanwhile the other problems you listed still persist (preheating is just confusing to me), which was disappointing, but thank you for the video !

@@YentlLega With the newer model like mine, you can easilly turn off the default pre-heat feature if you like and turn it back on whenever you want to. I've done several 6 to 8 pound chickens using the Roasting preset in conjunction with the temperature probe set to 165F and they come out perfect every time. I also use this oven a lot to make blueberry muffins and corn muffins, they're great to munch on.

Thank you for an honest reveiw- There is an Alz person in the house and my 3 concerns were 1`# the heat on the outside-2# The knobs or buttons-3# The Noise- Theat because although the person has early Alz- I am concerned about safety- while I would be present at all times- I may get distracted by a number of things- like the doorbell/phone. Same with the buttons- and I worry about the person touching it.. The noise - would be very annoying to the person and me for that matter- while in a separate area- the kitchen is open to the living room and listening to a background noise while trying to watch T.V. Wouldn't work, the person would be asking "What's that noise" during the whole time it was running- I know these seem petty to most, but example when a fan in another room is running-- the person will ask about it -- until I turn it off. Heat is a safety thing....

My pleasure, Jeff! Not petty at all! Very legitimate concerns especially when safety is involved. A few have commented that the newer versions of this oven are more user friendly with the knobs and buttons and they no longer have the noise issue. If you want to test it out first to make sure it’s a good fit for you and your loved one, I believe they have a “money back guarantee” policy. Hope you find one that gives you peace of mind and ease of use:)

@@YentlLega Thank you for the quick reply- It's between the Ninja XL Smart Griddle and Grill- the Power XL Combo and this. My goal is to eliminate 3 other appliances -- a stand alone- griddle-which we use for breakfast- but terrible for foods that splatter- a Slow cooker which I make soups and stand up my short ribs in, and a plain ol' grill-. and the stove- /oven because it has a glass top and it stays hot way to long after it's turned off. However trying to find an honest review that points out both the pro and cons of all 3 is even harder, because no one takes into account seniors or other people in the house- and you mentioned the "safety of kids" and an Alz person at times is like worrying about a child.

The Bravo menu can be changed to different programed items by pressing start/pause button after pressing on/off and than menu and than turning to any of the 12 menu items.

Thank you ☺️ I think we may have different versions because I’m unable to use the dial to go to the different menu items. Unfortunately, I have to press menu several times to select the cooking option and I didn’t see another way to do so in the manual:/

Thank you for your like, I watched a lot of people in the Bravo recipe videos press the menu button until it comes to their desired 1-12 program, but the start button will turn to each program once it is pushed in (start) so be sure to save your self some time by pushing the start button after pushing the menu button to turn to desired 1-12 program.

I've had mine for a few weeks i've air fried food and frozen pizza ... came out prefect.. i'm a real good cook i use my full size oven stove top and now my air fryer ... Going to make a cheese stuffed meat loaf today and use my air fryer to make garlic red air fried potatoes with veggies... and my homemade Red Spaghetti sauce ... i'm gonna use that sauce for a home made pizza when i get my pizza stone ...yum

I love my Nuwave XL. It is more efficient than an oven for small meals. For example, if I only want to make 1-2 servings of tater tots, it is quicker and uses less electricity than a conventional oven. So you save money!!

How can you do a complete review on a product when you haven’t even used some of the basic functions?!?!?!?! I do agree though this oven is not very user friendly. One example: it doesn’t even tell you where the START button is! You’ll definitely need to read the menu and get a degree first before truly know how to use it. Honestly, I’m searching through KZfaq to see if someone has a video on a complete tutorial on all the functions! At this point, I am quite frustrated!!

After using it daily for 2 years, I honestly found that I didn't gravitate to other functions besides toasting, baking, and air frying. You're right, it's not the most user-friendly oven and understand your frustration completely!

That sound seems like coil whine. Electrical items which are not properly filtered will do this. I'm torn between this and the ninja grill/fryer (non oven style). I'm on keto, so I won't be making bready things.

if anyone has any tips ....Hi, the reason for I bought this oven, because I need to use that upper and lower heat seperate control, but I really don't know how to do that, I want to make a Indonisa thousand layer cake , it need to have several layer, so that it just need to use the bottom heat for the first layer after that, all the following layer only need the top heat, otherwise the bottom will get burn to dry. would you mind to let me know how to operate the top/bottom heat control. hopefully you can answer my question and thanks .

you use the top/btm button, and use the round dial in between to adjust and set where you want the burner (10%, 20%, etc.).

So great to hear you love it and are making awesome use of it:) What helps me is a glass cleaner for the glass, and sprinkling baking soda on the tray and grill then soaking it with vinegar. Helps to lift the stains out and then I use a dish brush with dish soap to more easily scrub off what’s dissolved. Hope that helps!

All your 'cons' sound more like nit-picks...you're not complaining about a lack of function, but you are trying to reformat the functionality of the oven. In summary, the machine does what it said it would do; learning how to cook with it cures all ills.

We often rush to respond or question without first commenting on efforts; your VLOG on the Nuwave Bravo XL only supported what I have been consternating over for the last year! Believe it or not, my only restriction is HEIGHT. Sadly, there are few that fit the bill. Of course, the argument internally was a 'rotisserie' versus a 'probe'; if they developed one with both...they would make trillions. But, I'm a guy and cook a bit; I lived off a #1 appliance (IMO) for years..." Set it, and forget it"...made the best rotisserie chicken in the world for years (until it broke down 12 years later). Bottom line: I am sold on Nuwave, as you are on your channel! Thanks for all that you do; you don't mince words; I enjoy a straightforward approach without constant repetition. Glad I found you. Hi, Virgie:) I spray the basket with oil and I place a tray underneath the basket if I’m air frying something that will drip. Hope that helps:)

I do toast or bagels, reheat, bake casseroles and last weekend I did 3 batches of carne asada on the broiler pan set on grill. I did pretty good. So I’m now daring enough to try the air fryer!! Tks 🌹

I just got this (I think it is slightly updated from your model) b/c it was the most exciting thing in my 'company anniversary gift catalog'. It's sort of intimidating, has 100 'preset programs' and you can potentially do 50 of your own programs--but I'd rather just have really simple controls. We already have a drawer-type Gourmia AF I got at costco. The Gourmia is pretty simple to use, just temp and time. All the nuwave really needed was temp, time, perhaps something for fan speed (it has 3 speeds) and for top and bottom burner adjustment. And that is all. It could have been SO much simpler had they just designed it like that. When you used this for toasting, did you entirely remove the little broil pan? The instructions are pretty good, but don't make it entirely clear when to keep the broil pan (rectangle pan with slitted broil pan that fits on it) in the Nuwave vs when to leave it out entirely.

Completely agree with you! It could be much simpler. When toasting, yes, I would remove the broiler pan. Hope you’re able to make good use of it despite the overwhelming features.

@@YentlLega I did notice that by default the 'toasting' feature does a 'preheat'--which is ridiculous b/c the whole point of toasting is to just put your bread into the cold oven, hit toast and hit start. So for the nuwave you have to add in the step of turning off the preheat. I think for us it will mostly be a tremendously over-engineered toaster.

Does this oven have an interior light? Does it have "stops" on the racks so they don't come flying out with hot implements on them?

Hi! Thank you for your question :) I double checked about the "stops" and while it doesn't have them, the rack is wide enough to where you only need to pull it out halfway to reach everything with ease and without burning yourself. Thankfully, I haven't experienced the issue of food flying out with this oven as I have with some others. And yes, it has and interior light :)

The preheat function can be beat if you hit the preheat button and turn it off, then set the actual time and add a minute to compensate. That is another stupid thing about this oven! I looked at purchase date, 3 years. So my digital readout finally is un readable. After looking at expensive other brands, I decided since I loved the probewhich has been failing lately, I bought another. I hope we just had a lemon the first time:)

Though it works well and I like the features, I've grown to hate mine. The rack fits poorly and frequently drops unexpectedly as I'm pulling it out. It's dangerous and I wouldn't recommend buying one. And, yeah, the time limit once it's preheated is aggravating, too.

So far I hate this oven. I read the instructions to set the time of day and it dies not work. It tells me to press the light and the fan button at the same time . It won't allow me to set time of day. Personally I wished I could return this UNIT. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY. PLEASE!

So sorry you weren’t able to return it within their 90 day window:/ Is it something that can be remedied through their limited warranty?

Be aware the 90 return widows is correct but you will have to pay for the unit to go back to nuwave. Then you get the refund minus what you just paid for shipping. Typically this units only have 1 years as an incentive you can register your unit and something they can offer an additional amount of time.

You are wrong , to give it more time just turn the knob before time runs out. I love mine and I think those that don't like this oven just don't know how to use it. We use ours for everything, baking, toasting. air frying, broiling, pizza I mean everything, this oven is greeeeeeeat. I especially like left over pizza I've frozen, just put in in the oven for 5 to 7 minutes and it's better than when you bought it.

IMO, I don’t think your 2 year review on the Nuwave is all that helpful, & certainly not thorough, being that you mainly use it to toast bread. You don’t need a nuwave to do the things you mentioned. When you have a machine that was designed to be able to cook everything imaginable, with so many capabilities, I don’t think this is very helpful, at all. I have a very specific, somewhat restrictive diet, & I cook nearly everything from scratch, & it comes out perfectly! I think you should start using all of the functions, & then do a 3 year review. You will be so impressed what it all can do😊
